Interface Plastic Surgery Program

I completely agree. Interface is a fantastic program and really opened my eyes to how much good can be done. The people are wonderfully dedicated and a pleasure to be around. Interface need and want good folks (with and without medical backgrounds) to be involved. Excellent organization, very fulfilling to participate.

My former associate got me involved in this organization of plastic surgeons, dentists, ear, nose and throat surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, nurses, techs and civilians who all band together to bring our traveling hospital to various parts of Mexico 6 times a year to uninsured children born with cleft lips and palates and other birth defects. Staff come from San Diego, Tijuana and all over the rest of the US to help in this wonderful cause. The program began at UCSD with the plastic surgery department but in recent years has been adopted by the plastic surgeons in the community. The website is
. Kathy Mayo has been the coordinator for many years and she really puts her heart and soul into making the whole thing run so smoothly. We have a killer fundraiser at the racetrack every year. If you are fortunate enough to be invited do not miss it.
