In the universe I live in the proprietress took time off to drive a poster she had framed down to the marina where my boat was, since I had sailed into San Diego and was without a car. She is a lovely person, the framing was perfectly workmanlike, and the price fair. Attention Wayne P.: have somebody check your hyper-​drive atomic thruster. I think you must have a screw loose somewhere!
Truthfully — John Baker Framing is the kind of local shop that you don’t often find these days, with an owner actually in the store, a person who takes customer service extremely seriously. You can’t go wrong. Not in this universe.

Just picked up a 14″ x 54″ B/​W photo of an old «Big Boy» steam locomotive that John Baker Frames, framed for me. I took the print to Mary and, not knowing a lot about framing, I asked ALOT of questions, which Mary answered thoroughly !!! Mary, you guys did an AMAZING job !!! THANK YOU !!! Can’t say enough good things about John Baker Frames. As an artist, I have been able to find decent priced pre-​cut frames that suit my work perfectly. They help me with my choices, do the finish up work, wiring etc. and I walk out with a piece I’m proud to show. I’ve never been disappointed when I stop there, and it’s always my first choice no matter how large or small the piece. Go there first.

Absolutely terrible customer service from the female employee. Tried to purchase some ornaments being sold outside. I asked if they excepted credit cards. She rolled her eyes as if I was wasting her time. I then left, only to have her follow me out the store, telling me that putting such a small amount on a card was a waste of her time. Unreal!!! I was also interested in some of the paintings. Obviously I will take my business elsewhere.

I had an old naval blue print that was very special to me and I wanted professionally framed. I did not want to go to the big chain stores, so i found this store, which was just down the street from my house in Ocean Beach. I only had an idea of what I wanted, and this was complicated by their huge selection of frames. They even have vintage wood and reclaimed wood (awesome). I took forever choosing the right frame and matte combo, but the employee was helpful and happy to help. It came down to price and I had to go with a more affordable frame, even though I wanted the more expensive walnut frame. The price was reasonable and I was happy with everything when I placed my order. I returned the next week to pick up my print and was flabbergasted to find that they had put the more expensive walnut frame on for no extra charge! The woman who helped me said that «If this is something that you are going to have your whole life, you might as well have what you wanted.» It was one of the nicest things that any business has done for me, and that was my first time ever shopping there. The framing and matting were perfect and the blueprint (which had been folded up in an old file cabinet since 1975) was flattened with precision. The print now hangs above our dinner table and becomes the center of attention whenever we have guests visit. Thanks a million Baker John Picture Frames. Thanks to the awesome lady who was so patient and kind. Love my print!

John’s work is nothing short of extraordinary. I’ve taken all kinds of projects to him and am always thrilled with the results. I also love the fact that the shop is home to two «greeters», Murphy and Bucket, who make sure you feel welcome when you arrive.

John Baker Picture Frames provides fine custom framing for diplomas, degrees, documents, posters and more. There is a large selection of ready made frames as well. The store is very near Sunset Cliffs-​along a small group of local businesses, and does some very high quality work. I had some African lithographs that needed framing but I was having trouble finding the right kind of woodsy frame I wanted. John Baker had it and does fast framing too.

I like Aaron Brothers over on Midway for some things like art supplies, but I trust all my framing needs to John Baker.
