Wonderful charity and not just a tax-​write off for a rich athlete to chisel some money away from Uncle Sam. I have seen the Junior Seau Foundation at work when «Shop with a Jock» used to come through Mervyn’s department store, when I worked there at Christmas. I also know that Junior’s foundation has donated funds to help set up sports parks in areas of town to help keep the kids off the streets and busy staying out of trouble.
Now that Junior has passed on, it is up to us, his fans and «buddies» to help keep his generous spirit alive by donating to the Junior Seau Foundation. On Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Qualcom Stadium Celebration of Life for Junior, there will be an opportunity for fans and friends to contribute.
In lieu of flowers, the Chargers and the family are asking that donations be made in Seau’s honor to the Junior Seau Foundation at tables located around on the plaza level. Donations can also be mailed to the Junior Seau Foundation, 5275 Market Street, Suite B, San Diego, CA 92 114. Online donations can be made at

Junior Seau had a heart of gold. As sad as we all are at his passing, the good that can come out of this tragedy starts right here with his Foundation and Junior’s legacy of giving.
