Kelly’s Hair & Nails

This review is for May who cuts hair at the first chair as you walk in the door at Kelly’s Salon at 2855 University (near KFC, at Utah and University) in North Park. She cuts men or women’s hair — I’ve been going to her for 3 years or so — She used to be the shop owner of Perfect Cuts near the Army Surplus shop, just behind University ave off of 30^th St.
May is AWESOME !!! I got so sick of going to «Not So Great Cuts» and «Perfectly Sublime Cuts» and those other places who employ hairdressers for about 3 weeks until they get a job somewhere selling hot wings while wearing Daisy Dukes and a sports bra. I’ve lived in San Diego for 15 years now and got so many crappy haircuts and paid over $ 20 for them. May charges $ 11 for men and she’s NEVER given me a bad haircut. I can’t say enough great things about her. She’s thorough and quick without rushing you, and always has a pleasant smile on her face.
Thank you May for making me look so much better !!! See You Next Month !!! P. S. I almost never have to wait for a haircut there… Today I walked right in and May was available. Walk-​Ins always welcome…

I called an made an appointment.
I showed up on time. She examined my nails and I told her what I wanted.
She asked me to wait 20 minutes, then asked me to pick a color.
I waited patiently.
The the wait went past 30 minutes.
I continued to wait patiently…
Then she told me should could not do my nails.
The shop was empty.
Great way to keep it that way.

Joanne is fantastic — I can’t wait to go back to her… continuously! She brought my nails back to life… was conscious of my time & did a great job. I am sold… I’ll be coming back for a looooooong time! Hope she doesn’t mind… :)

Joanne has been my nail technician for the last 2 years. I have followed her all over San Diego. She has made Kelly’s Nails her permanent place (for now). I travel from Carmel Valley down to North Park to see her every 3 weeks to get a new set or fill on my pink&white nails with gel top coat. She is very meticulous and does a great job using quality product. She is a very talented artist and always paints pretty designs on my big toe, when I get a pedicure. Highly recommend her work!

LOVE! There are a ton of nail salons in Hillcrest where I live but I will drive down to north park for this place. Joanne is seriously the best. SO friendly and so is her mom. There was a gentleman getting a haircut and he seemed like he’s been going there forever. ALWAYS a good sign. Spa massage chairs are great and it’s well ventilated so it doesn’t smell like a nail salon. Paid $ 20 bucks for a spa pedi and MAN was it worth it.

Joanne is awesome. I have been going to her for a year and won’t go anywhere else.
Stiletto nails? She does amazing stiletto nails.
Gel Color? Absolutely perfect!
Acrylic or natural, Joanne does a beautiful job and, quickly but not rushed.
Best nails hands down. :)
