Wow! after reading the chesapeake deli review I had to chime in. My restaurant buys bread from La Jolla Baking Company and we have had nothing but great service and Top quality breads. We pick up our bread from Restaurant depot in van nuys 5 days a week and anyone with a Restaurant can check out the quality of the bread there. Please La Jolla keep bringing the quality bread my customers deserve. Thanks a million, a Thousand Oaks restarant owner.

I wish that there was an option for zero stars because they don’t even deserve one star. I am the owner of Chesapeake Plaza Deli and Catering and have been with La Jolla Baking Company since April of 2011. Since then I have been disappointed so many times with their unprofessional and«I don’t care» attitude. Especially coming from their owner and manager who SHOULD be the best at their jobs instead of the worst. The only reason we haven’t stopped our business before now is that they have driver who actually seem like they care. We were so happy that they let go of their previous manager because we thought things would get a lot better with him gone but they stayed the same with unprofessional and uncaring attitudes. There have many incidents that have really upset me but I will only list a few of them: 1. I had a VERY big presentation for a new company with 4000 employees and I was showcasing bread and the variety of bread that I could supply this company with. I was counting on La Jolla Baking Company to have my back with this as it was their bread that I was showcasing but unfortunately they let me down big time. When they didn’t show up I called them and they said they had completely forgot about my order and when they finally brought my bread over all they brought was what seemed like day old French rolls. It was pretty embarrassing for me to present this because as this bread was representing me I did not look very good right then. 2.I had an event on a Saturday and one of the worst things that they can do though, is tell me that they can’t deliver bread on Saturday mornings to our area. We tried so hard to have them deliver because we are short on time but they actually refused. So we arranged to pick our bread order up that Saturday morning and when we got there we found out that they couldn’t find our order. After what seemed like eternity they then realized that they had put it on the truck to be delivered. that wasted 3 hours of my time and barely had time to do my catering Job on time. 3. This Saturday, October 22 I had a Job for a brand new client and considering what happened in incident 2. we placed an order for pickup early Saturday morning as we need to deliver and set up at 10 am. When we got there we found the doors closed and locked, nobody there. After checking every door and after calling their tell. # with no answer. I thought to contact the driver we deal with, luckily we had his phone number, he told us they don’t open until 11 am. and he will check and call us back. After what seemed like eternity a man by the name of Terry who spoke very little English and said he is in customer service but today he is working as a driver talked to us and kept repeating«there is nothing I can do». I cant be there before 9:30 am. he didn’t even know if my bread was even ready or not. My event is at 10 am and by the time someone shows up to open the door and I pickup the bread(if there was any made) and drive back to my kitchen make my sandwiches, Salads and everything else I have to make I would have needed to deliver at 11:30 to 12 noon. We as a company in the service industry never do that as clients depend on us to be on time with their food. I left and I had to rush to another place and buy bread retail with not a lot of choice of breads to choose from and have everything made and Delivered on time. It’s Monday morning now and still no one has gotten back to me yet. Even when I was calling the bakery to cancel my standing orders I couldn’t talk to anyone, not even an answering machine telling them that I didn’t wish to give them my business anymore. I had to wait until the driver showed up with my bread on Monday morning to tell him that I no longer wished to order bread from La Jolla Baking Company. It’s 5 Pm now and I am ready to post this and until now NOONE Called. Between Saturday and today I have told three people that work for them that I would like to speak with Steve the owner and until now I was not given that courtesy. I am sure that I am not going to send them a check for what I owe this week hoping that this will get the owners attention to actually call me so I can voice my complete disappointment.
