I am always eating thai food and now I have found the place! It is so good especially their curry and pad thai. Now not only is there food good but service is always great. Their lunch special is perfect not only for what you get but also the price. I can eat here every day!

This place is amazing! The food is so fresh and forward thinking, and the cocktails are amazing. The serving for the pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp, this dish is heavenly AND plenty enough for two for the price of Wendy’s, come on people! $ 13 for two and leftovers? Convenient location and beautiful clean décor.

First time here tonight for dinner. Relaxing room, very chill, great for after-work Zen-like decompression. Very clean. Kindly service. Food was off the charts healthy & delicious. We had salad rolls(special order vegan for me and half regular — I liked that they were so accommodating), shrimp special with glass noodles, and my highlight was the green curry veggies & brown rice. I could have drank that curry right out of the bowl it was so good! You can order 0 – 10 for spicy level. I choose a 4 which was on the mild side, so will go hotter next time. Nice size portions. Have some nice leftovers. Thanks! Will be back soon.

This is awesome place in SD for Thai food. I haven’t had a tofu that seemed this fresh at any other place. They have a nice ambience too especially considering the neighboring area. I would definitely recommend this place!

This place is actually pretty decent. I walked in with my good friend and the décor was beautiful. That was a good sign. We sat down ordered vegan Thai tea. That was amazing. After that I had the pad Thai and he had the curry plate. It was very delicious. The waiters were attentive and really nice. The outdoor seating though is very cheap and does not match the inside. it’s very discouraging if you wanted to sit outside and uncomfortable.

Being Asian, I am super picky with Asian restaurants. Since we are still new to San Diego, still on the journey to discover new places, stepped in to Lanna following my wife with full of hesitance. Immediately greeted and sat down without any reservation. Server(maybe manager) lady was very kind and helpful with the menu. «How spicy on scale of 1−10» was super easy and helpful for decision and plates were ready pretty fast. At the end, I only had amex cards and they were flexible enough to take my payment despite their policy of Non acceptance of Amex. Will be recommending to my friends!

Yes yes yes !!! Dined here tonight and it was great !!! We shared the fresh rolls with shrimp and tofu(shrimp was MIA) but they were great !!! Moved on to the papaya salad which they tell me is not oil based, instead it has fish and lamb stock. Pretty awesome. I asked for level 2 spice wise and I would have like it spicier, oh well it was great regardless. We also enjoyed the Panang curry with chicken and brown rice. Pretty neat too service is always efficient; sometimes the servers are short tempered but oh well It is no deterrent !!!

Driving for 20 minutes to go to a Thai place when we have several much closer? TOTALLYWORTHIT! Lanna has some of the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten! And many selections you won’t find in most Thai restaurants. The Tom Kah(soup with coconut milk and Thai spices, herbs, and choice of meat) was much better than average(and average is great!) Lemon chicken was nicely done; lettuce wraps were delicious! And, of course, I couldn’t go without Sticky Rice with Mango!(If you haven’t tried it, you must!) Service was good. Décor is appealing. Food is wonderful! Well worth the drive!

We visited Lanna with my family on a Monday evening. Finding parking was slightly tricky, but we were lucky to secure a spot right out front. When inside you will find a dimly lit dining area with cool sculptures and décor inside. The menu was pretty elaborate with all sorts of options, including some things I had never tried before. We ordered the golden triangles and spring rolls as appetizers, along with the papaya salad. Before ordering, the waitress asked for the spice level and we requested a 4 out of 10, which actually turned out to be decently spicy — not intolerable, yet still tasty. The papaya salad and golden triangle really surprised me because they were new to me and very delicious. For main dishes we ordered a few different things, including the classic masaman curry and pad see ew. All the dishes were on point and even the tofu option turned out to be worth it. Overall, a great dining experience that I would gladly repeat.

I recommend this restaurant for Thai food when you’re in San Diego! Started with the Spinach Wrap, and had Masaman Curry w/Vegetables for the entrée. Both were delicious. The Spinach Wrap appetizer reminds me of a taco bar, with each of the ingredients presented separately. You get to make your own wraps, taking a spinach leaf and topping it with goodies and sauce. The sauce(!!!) takes the wraps to another level. So yummy. Happy taste buds here! The Masaman Curry was great, and a nice change from the usual curries you find on Thai menus(green, yellow, red, and panang). It’s more saucy — not creamy like the other curries. I would totally get the Masaman Curry again.

A very nice place to have a quiet dinner. The ambience is really peaceful(dining out single so can’t say romantic). Coming to food. I ordered today’s special lamb shank and it was truly special. The meat was exactly cooked to precision and the gravy had some cooked nuts that added to its overall taste.

Hands down the nicest people and best Thai food in San Diego. Jack is easy to work with, for any big catered events, and the prices are very fair for how good it is. I just give him a budget to work with and he always provides more than we expect. They just catered another very important party for us, and did a fantastic job. Everyone should check out Lana. So good!

WHY did it take me so long to find this place? We came here today around 4pm for the first time and loved it! The staff is friendly, the décor is nice and the place is super clean. Even the music was great background music. The food was spectacular! We got the spinach wraps with tofu as an appetizer. My boyfriend and I split it and ate it like a salad because the spinach leaves seemed too small to make into wraps. The glaze was excellent and the tofu was perfectly crispy. For entrees I got Pad Thai with chicken and my boyfriend got the Crispy Cashew with chicken. We both got level 3 out of 10 for the spicy level. The food still had some heat to it but not too much. Everything was delicious. I love Pad Thai and tried a ton of places… I have to say that this is my new favorite. Will definitely be back. Don’t let the shopping center this restaurant is located in scare you. Highly recommend :)

Tried this place for the first time since coming back from Thailand. I have to admit, Thai food in Thailand is still tastier but this place isn’t bad. We went with the green curry and pad Thai. The green curry was impressive and the pad Thai wasn’t bad either. Food: tasty and impressive Ambience: nice sit down restaurant Service: friendly and helpful Price: average price as everywhere else

Lanna Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant. The food there is delicious, the presentation is lovely and the service is friendly. I’ve tried many things on the menu and liked all of them with no exception. I had them ctr food for my wedding, after which I went to Thailand for honeymoon. Guess what? Not a single thing I’ve tried in Thailand was better than what I have in Lanna. My favorites are panang curry, tom kha, vetegable delight and island treasures. My mouth waters as I’m writing this. Go there with friends and enjoy!

Best Thai place I’ve been to in the PB/MB area so far. I came with a GF on a Thursday night and had no problem getting seated right away. They have a better wine selection than most Thai places, so we each opted for a NZ Sauv Blanc-did the job. We also split the chicken larb and the red curry with chicken(side of brown rice). The portions are perfect, not too large and not too small. All of the food tasted super fresh and NOT greasy at all. We got both at a spice level of 4, which was just enough to make it pop but I would probably go higher next time. The service was super attentive(never had an empty water glass) and our server had concrete recommendations on what she liked, which I ALWAYS appreciate. I will definitely be back to eat in or take out here again!

I came here for lunch with my husband on one of my days off. There isn’t much parking, but since we were staying at a hotel nearby(long story…), we just walked in. The restaurant itself feels very classy/fancy. It was fairly quiet too. Husband and I got the shrimp pad thai and chicken pad kee mao lunch specials. Just a word of warning to those of you who aren’t into spicy: they say that 4 is a medium, but it’s actually decently spicy. It wasn’t something I was prepared for, and it definitely cleared the sinuses(I’ve been suffering from a cold for the past week)! If you don’t love Asian spicy, I say go for a 2. It has a bit of a kick, but isn’t too spicy. The lunch specials came with a small soup(it was in this cute mug), a salad, and a crunchy spring roll. Overall, decent price for a decent amount of food.

This is hands down the NOM-NOMMIEST Thai restaurant in San Diego. The peanut sauce is perfect. I could probably eat a bowl of the peanut sauce on its own. Love the Fresh Salad Rolls. Love the Sarong Shrimp. Love the Yellow Curry. Love the Chicken Supreme. Love anything with noodles… love anything with rice. Love that gd Crispy Banana w Ice Cream dessert. Go here. Seriously.

I showed up just as the opened for dinner. I was able to chose my seat and wait for my guest. The food was great. One of the best papaya salads I have had in San Diego. Perfect amount of lime and spice. The main courses were BBQ chicken(my guest) and I had a garlic chicken, broccoli wok dish. It was good, but it considerably lacked spice/flavor. The ambiance was nice, quiet, but a bit dark. The place was very clean and modern, but almost lacked character. The service was quite good. They were quick to take orders, refill drinks and were always attentive.

I haven’t had a meal like this in a long time. Craving lettuce wraps, my boyfriend located this Thai place on Unilocal.I had gone there once for take-out 2 years ago, but this was our first sit-down experience. The lettuce wraps were complimented with juicy bits of chicken, water chestnuts, mushrooms, & other seasoning in a tasty sauce. The Lanna Platter is an absolute culinary dream-from the golden triangle filled with marinated white chicken to the chicken curry cups, the salad roll and spring roll, to the chicken satay w/the trio of dipping sauces, I could not ever imagine getting anything but that at future visits. The Wonton soup is also fresh and of a clean broth, with touches of lettuce and bean sprouts cooked alongside heavenly dollops of wonton that are a subtle scream of perfection. The table next to us had already finished their meal but could not help themselves from staring at our spread of goodness. I only rated it 4, because the wait staff is rather limited, & we had to wait a while to get our order taken. Also, parking is competitive as it shares the same lot as Sushi Ota, where we have sojourned many times. Still, it is a rare find to have a meal this good in every bite. I would go there again, & I know I won’t be disappointed.

Stepping inside the place looks small but a step above casual! Nice looking venue! If you bring kids, make sure they’re well behaved. When we first got here for lunch we had to wait a bit to be seated and the place was only half full. Menus came right away but we had to ask twice for someone to take our orders for just drinks. We sat there for a solid 10 minutes and realized there’s only ONE waiter in the entire place. The complimentary soup with the lunch special was very bland! it tastes just like hot water with spinach and cabbage. Awful… Our lunch was nice in portion size. Not too big or too small! We ordered the Yellow Curry(my favorite dish out of the 3), Pad Thai, and a Lettuce Wrap special. Everything tasted pretty good, nothing special. Though the Chicken Pad Thai tasted odd and had a very powerful orange flavor to it.(I’ve tasted many Chicken Pad Thais and this doesn’t rank high in my list) I also didn’t expect the giant chunks of tofu in the dish, which I mistook for chicken at first. Overall the food is hit and miss. Price was good for lunch… about $ 8-$ 9 a plate. At least for today they needed more help to bring customer service up to par.

We picked up a to-go order there on our way home from a beach party. When we arrived home 20 minutes later we were happy to find the food was still hot. The Thai food was very good, but we were a little disappointed that the spice levels we requested didn’t seem to be heeded. I had asked for a spice level 7 on my Pad See Ew, but it tasted like a spice level of 1 or 2. My wife had the same experience with her dish… next time we’ll have to be more vocal about our spice levels. Considering not only the tasty food, but also the reasonable prices and the very nice interior(which surprised us given its tiny strip mall location), we wouldn’t hesitate to go back if we find ourselves in that area; and if we lived nearby we’d definitely become regulars.

Best Thai food that I’ve found in San Diego thus far. Doesn’t compare to my old Thai Dishes in Manhattan Beach, but then what does? Anywho, I always get the shrimp pad thai, which has a great balance of savory and sweet. I add a little extra chili sauce to kick it up a notch though. The husband always gets the yellow chicken curry and it has a great aroma, and he always seems to scarf it down quickly so he must enjoy it! The people who work here are also really nice whenever I come in to pick up my order, and it is generally ready pretty fast, that’s one huge advanatge over Thai Dishes, I must say. They have some interesting salmon dishes that I’d love to eat in and try sometime soon as the inside of the restaurant looks really cute too.

What you need to know: extensive menu and vegetarian options appetizers are very large portions that you can get full off of quickly NOT just for rejects of Sushi Ota… It’s amazing as it’s own restaurant Takeout friendly, lots of people picking up food This place is not just for rejects of Sushi Ota next door, it’s one of my favorite Thai places in San Diego. They have all your favorites and also specials that are unique to this restaurant. I recommend the Lanna’s Platter, it comes with all the best appetizers and was perfect for sharing in my party of 4. The rolls were crispy, the wraps were fresh, and the sauces were very well matched for all the 5 different appetizers. I also ordered: Chicken Lettuce Wraps(a step up from your usual lettuce wraps, with a killer sauce and well seasoned«Thai-tasting» chicken Pad Thai(different than your normal pad thai you might think of, lots of meat included) Soft Shell Crab with choice of yellow curry or signature sauce. Around $ 18 dollars for 3 fairly decent sized soft shell crabs. Tasted crispy and had lots of meat in them. The service was very good, the waters were always refilled and they brought us new plates as soon as we finished our appetizers. Always give this place a try, even if not going to Sushi Ota, you won’t be disappointed.

After a rainy day at Pride, we were looking for something to warm us up. Hillcrest looked like it had a few good Thai spots, but because of Pride traffic and road blockage we decided to wander back up the 5 a lil bit before we settled on this Thai restaurant. It’s in a small strip mall, parking looks like it can be tough when the plaza gets busy. We went for a late lunch so we didn’t have any trouble. There were probably only 2 – 3 other tables being served when we walked in. We ordered: — tom kha soup with chicken $ 5.00 — mussel appetizer(comes with a dipping sauce, it was tasty) — red curry with chicken — panang curry with shrimp The flavors all had a good kick to it! I finished my panang in one sitting. I love curry and this one was delicious! I wanna go back and try some noodle dishes here!

I’ve only ever ordered take out but every time I’ve come into the restaurant it’s very nice and clean. The food is delicious and very good quality. I’m a big fan of the yellow curry and spring rolls. They’re spicy scale is fair. I’m not a big fan of spicy but I still usually order a 3 just for flavor. Something I really enjoy about Lanna is the wok. The east eggplant is delicious as is the vegetable delight. They go well with beef. It’s a little pricey compared to your typical hole in the wall Thai places but still affordable and worth it.

Group of 3 arriving at 8pm on a Friday. We got a table almost right away and server was over quickly. Ordered the pannang curry, pepper garlic with chicken and the curry green bean dish. All dishes were very good, service was attentive and atmosphere was above average for pacific beach. Atmosphere was casual but nice. It’s right next to sushi ota, so in a weird type strip mall(7 – 11) but strangely nice places. Prices are about average starting at 9 for a vegetable dish and up to around 18 for fish specials. They have some interesting fusion type dishes, but also the basic thai type dishes. We will definitely be back.
