‘lette macarons

Pretty good macarons overall for the flavors I like. It’s a mix between 4.5 and 3 stars. It costs 1.95 each and 12 for $ 23. It’s still under $ 2 each technically. I’ve tried 11 out of the 14 they had at that time. (I sacrificed by gaining 5 lbs to write this review. You must continue reading.) Most of them taste exactly what they advertise and that’s pretty impressive. Their cookies taste amazing with the perfect texture! However, I just think some flavors shouldn’t happen with macarons.
Here is my ranking, minus citron, salted caramel and red velvet that I don’t care for:
1) Violet cassis: very good blackcurrant and some floral flavor, a very unique and satisfying taste!
2) Raspberry is amazing, even with some seeds and meat!
3) Vanilla tastes like vanilla bean growing with the macaron haha
4) Sweet wedding almond: I honestly can’t taste any almonds, but the flavor is rich, creamy and addicting
4) Chocolate: very chocolaty, super rich and delicious!
4) Coffee is one of the best coffee macarons I’ve had. Tasted just like I had a shot of espresso! You need a cup of hot chocolate to go with that.
MEH: Pistachio even has nut skins in it but it’s sweeter than my preference. Passion fruit was overwhelmingly sweet despite the strong passion fruit flavor. The Earl grey tastes like tea but is not rich or creamy enough, so kinda like sweet tea. I love coconut stuff in general and their Coconut has strong flavor with shreds on top of the cookie but I just think coconut doesn’t work in macaron. The Rose is very floral but I prefer a creamier filling for that.
It would be nice if they change up the texture of their filling to suit the flavor. Some filling requires a little fluffier and creamier texture, while the other can be more grainy and syrupy. Maybe that’s not the traditional French way, but this is ‘Murica, fusion is allowed.
I am the kind of person who reads milk cartons and warnings on bug sprays, so I noticed how they said on the box «infuse the ganache filling of these festive almond cookies» yada yada. As far as I know, by definition, ganache = chocolate + cream, implying all ganache contains chocolate. Either every macaron they make contains chocolate (what.?) or they misuse the term «ganache»…
I am not sure how authentic these macarons are, as I never ate one when I was in France, but all I know is I enjoyed some of these flavors a lot, and am definitely going back for the violet cassis!!! oui oui!

Today was my first time here. I’ve been craving to come here and not have to order them online. Came around noon on a Sunday and there was no line at their little kiosk. My husband treated me to a 6 count box for an early birthday gift. The displays are so pretty with their floral designs, colorful display of macarons, organized placement, clean and crisp white background and clear window to the macarons.
I had wonderful customer service from the sweet girl working. She would show me what spots were left for the 6 count box. I asked her what her favorites were. She suggested Chocolate, wedding cake, pistachio, raspberry, and I chose coconut and lemon. All were so pretty I didn’t want to eat them. Love how the box resembles the kiosk look. They look so indulging and delicate. Each bite was very pleasurable, I can see how some customers come here for the larger boxes to share. Its very pricey for what it is so choose wisely.
Overall, how dangerous is this place at the mall?! I mean, you can’t not stop here or just walk by. Its a must stop if you’re at UTC. I recommend this place for a treat, san pellegrino drinks, macaron pops, and a box of macarons to light up someones day.

I LOVE LETTE!
Their macarons are probably up their with the best I’ve ever had (and I basically ingest macarons everywhere I can get my hands on them). The texture of the macaron shells are chewy and the ganache for each ones are SO incredibly delicious. Kind of pricey (~$ 2 for one) but in my opinion, pretty worth it! The prices of each macaron also decreases if you buy more (I always get the box of 6).
The only problem I’ve ever had are with the salted caramel macarons where the ganache melts very quickly and sometimes the shells are a bit TOO chewy. BUT, the people who work at lette are all sweethearts and are more than willing to accommodate requests to get new macarons, etc. My favorite flavor is the sweet wedding almond and earl grey [*DROOL].
A definite must if you are visiting UTC mall!

cannot begin to describe how often I crave these macarons! the texture, the taste, & the flavors are absolutely amazing. the only thing holding me back from purchasing these on a regular basis is the price. I believe 12 macarons cost about $ 24. & shipping is convenient if you don’t want to make the drive to La Jolla, but the only shipping option available costs $ 13 (which you could use to buy a box of 6 macarons if you make the drive instead).

Not sure what the hype is all about. Yes, they’re cute and colorful, but the taste and the flavor combinations are okay to me. I can tell they weren’t made fresh because they weren’t soft and the flavor wasn’t that strong, they tasted like they were sitting out for a day or two. Not sure where they are getting their macarons (whether they’re shipped to this location or not) because the bakeries that I’ve tried that make macarons make and sell them in the same bakery and the different flavors you can tell right away what they were.

I’ll definitely be back to ‘lette to get my macaron fix in the UTC/​UCSD area. I’ve had ‘lette in macarons in Los Angeles and I prefer them to Louie Bottega’s. I would’ve given this location a 4, but the macarons were pretty cold! I had to wait quite a while for them to come to room temperature. I guess they probably ship them from the LA locations, so maybe that’s why. It was also cold outside, but for $ 2 a a macaron maybe they can do a better job at regulating the temperature of the macarons.
Besides the temperature, these macarons are just as good as the ones in LA. Good texture and the perfect ratio of filling to shell. I really like how generous ‘lette is with the macaron filling. The shells are also made pretty well. They have good content, but aren’t too dense.
I had the coconut and passion fruit macaron and both were fantastic once they got down to room temperature. I loved both flavors. They weren’t overly sweet or artificial tasting.
‘Lette in UTC is a great option for macarons if you are in the UCSD area, but I hope they fix the temperature of the macarons.

They have a large variety of nice colorful flavors and are $ 2 each. It’s not the best macarons I’ve ever had but fulfilled my craving. I got the earl grey and wedding almond flavors. The macarons were very soft and there was a lot of filling compared to other places I’ve tried.

I love everything about ‘lette macarons! I recommend getting a couple because it’s more affordable that way, plus once you eat one you will want another. You won’t regret any flavors here. The salted caramel and earl grey is a must! I love the way they package them into cute boxes. I wish this location wasn’t in a small booth though but good enough for me so I can get my macaron fix on. I always want more after I finish my box.

6 macaroons for 11 bucks. Too me that’s a better deal than some other places. The size is right for the price. I’ve seen some other places. Ok like Opera located in sorrento and the macaroons are tiny and to me it didn’t taste fresh. It tasted old. I would know cuz I took a Macaron class at Sur la Table in Carlsbad. My favorite is the salted caramel. So if your looking for Macarons this place is a must.

I’ve had great experiences here, and I’ve had disappointing ones.
A prior east coaster dwelling in Queens, I was a quick train ride away from Ladurée, whose macarons are, in my opinion, exquisite is quality. This place doesn’t compare, but I think it’s a really satisfying option for the San Diego area.
I like the classic flavors, but I never hesitate to try the seasonal ones. The Almond Wedding Cake is a must, and I really enjoy the Lemon, Pistachio, Raspberry, and Earl Grey Tea. They carried an Irish Cream around St. Paddy’s Day that was to die for.
Sometimes I come here and I get the freshest and most delicious macarons. Other days, I feel like I get hard, stale, macarons left over from days before.
When you are paying $ 2 a piece for a treat, especially when you are buying a large box for a gift, you want to be sure you are getting the highest quality, and Lette doesn’t always deliver.

When thinking about macaroons, this is my favorite place to go. They have lots of varieties-​taste and color wise. We always like to get a 6 pieces set to share, and the almond wedding is probably the most delicious one by far-​the richness flavor of almond, the crispy but yet, creamy macaroons shells, and just a little bit of lemon touch to balance the taste.
When it comes to macaroons, I have to say, these are not inexpensive. 6 pieces is about 12 dollars.

Lette Macarons is originally from Beverly Hills, and from what I understand, all the other stores around LA and the kiosk here get their macarons directly from the original Beverly Hills location. I loved getting macarons from Lette in Pasadena since the flavors were always really good and the quality was also very good as well.
Not really the case here unfortunately. The flavors are still really good and I like that they have seasonal flavors, but unfortunately the texture isn’t there. I suspect it might be either how the macarons are being transported or, more likely, its how theyre being kept at the stand here in UTC. I’ve gotten macarons here a couple times, and every time the macarons are cold and have completely lost their crispy/​meringue-​y texture. The shells are just soft and chewy. Really disappointed since I was so excited when they decided to open up a Lette down here.):

I consider macarons a luxury food item, so rarely do I go out and buy them. I just feel like paying almost $ 2 for something that will take like one bite to eat is a bit much. They are always a treat to eat, though, I can admit that. There are a variety of flavors to choose from, so they’re perfect for everyone.
Lette is similar to any other macaron store I’ve been to. Nothing really distinguishable from all the other places. If you’ve been to UTC before, it’s located in the middle right in front of starbucks and tender greens.
A box of 6 macarons will cost you $ 11. I can probably finish that box by myself in less than 3 minutes, and that’s taking my time haha. I think you get my point. Enjoy!

Not a huge fan of French Macarons, but I purchased a dozen to share with my girlfriends for a post-​holiday get together. $ 2 each or $ 22 for a dozen, so the pricing is on par with plenty of other places.
The macarons are definitely made well as they are quite soft and decadent, so each bite feels like you’re biting into the softest cookie ever. However, most of the flavors did taste similar, save for a few such as a tangerine-​flavored one, the earl grey, coffee and the rose one. The packing is quite cute, so it’s a nice treat for Macaron fiends (I know plenty!) and the staff are friendly.
Overall nothing spectacular, but surprisingly pleasant compared to other bakeries (too sweet, hard, or flavors taste the same). The staff are nice and there isn’t a line in the evenings.

Dear Unilocaler,
If you are searching hi and lo for your macaron fix, the ‘lette at UTC is a good place to find it. Since it’s open until 9 PM from Mondays to Saturdays, you can get a decently late night macaron fix.
Location wise, it’s kind of confusing. It’s actually an outdoor shop in the middle of the plaza. On the directory, it is part of the K buildings. You won’t see a huge, blatant K, so look for small, white letters hovering over grey buildings.
Whether you buy 6, 12, 24, or 36, the price remains the same at roughly $ 1.83/macaron. Any less and the price is slightly more expensive. After trying six flavors, stand outs to me were the earl grey and the lemon. Earl grey if you are looking for a subtle tea flavor, and lemon if you are looking for a tart flavor.
So delicious. Definitely coming back.

Individual macarons are 1.95 and the gift box of two is 4 $.
My favorite so far here is the Earl Grey Tea and the pumpkin (seasonal) macaron! It’s delicious!
The Madagascar vanilla and the coconut ones are too sweet for my taste but not that bad! I also tried the coconut one and rose before too and although they’re not my favorite, they weren’t awful :)

I love macarons after a savory meal. Even just 1 is the perfect amount of sweetness for dessert. It’s nice to have a Lette in San Diego, but I have definitely had better macarons elsewhere. They’re obviously not made on site, due to it being a small kiosk… maybe this has something to do with it. If you go towards the end of the day selection is limited.
These are still above average and I’ll probably stop by here and there when I’m craving macarons at UTC. Great customer service though, and I would recommend you giving them a try.

It’s hard to resist these colorful sweets near the Starbucks in UTC mall. But save your money, because they don’t taste as good as they look. We tried the salted caramel and the pistachio macarons. Flavor was mostly sugar, and the texture was similar to pre-​packaged ones I’ve bought in grocery stores.
One tiny macaron is nearly $ 2. If you want a better sweet in the mall, have a gelato at Bottega Italiano.
