I usually love Luna but I had to give this one 4 stars not five because it takes FOREVER to get your food. Besides the slow prep time the place is great. I love the gyro, for some reason it doesn’t feel as bad for you as other places(don’t ask me why lol).

Walked in and stood in front of the register to order, waited and waited while everyone behind the counter acted like we were invisible, it was 2 in the afternoon and it was not busy but the manager and a kid with a strange haircut just ignored us. We walked out, never to return.

Extremely salty food it used to be good nowadays most their kabobs are salty. On my last visit i ordered ground serlion and cornish kabobs and they were both extra salty. Please cut back back on salt as 2 much of it is not healthy for anyone.

I’m very impressed with Luna Grill. My friend suggested meeting for lunch here since it’s halfway between my place at the west end of the 56 and hers at the east end. There aren’t a lot of choices midway and Luna Grill’s great reviews sealed the deal for us. When we arrived at 11:30 on New Year’s Eve, there was no one else in the restaurant but the lunch crowd arrived shortly after. It was a good thing we arrived early because there’s a lot of choices on the menu and it took us several minutes to make a decision. I ended up trying the chicken wrap, which comes on pita bread with lettuce, tomato and onion(but no onion for me!). The wrap was overflowing with delicious chunks of chicken that were seasoned wonderfully. Seriously, it was one of the better chicken pitas that I’ve tasted and I highly recommend it. Even the fries were a step up, which I attribute to the dusting of seasoned salt. They also taste great dipped in the tzatziki sauce. It seemed like the food took awhile to arrive at our table though. It’s definitely not fast food and I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re in a hurry. But my friend and I had plenty of time so it wasn’t a big deal to us.

I’m used to hole in the wall places that tend to be less than stellar hygienic. Adds to the flavor I like to think. Imagine my surprise when I came here. This place is so clean it gives off a sterile hospital feel. I was a bit worried there since I thought it was going to be an «Americanized» version of Mediterranean. Turns out the food was pretty good. Staff was friendly and efficient. This is an order at the counter and the staff brings the food to your table kind of place. Sure wish hummus came with the pita bread though. Parking was plenty in what appeared to be an empty strip mall. I guess the local grocery store that was the anchor went belly up.

Been here about 20 times over past few years. Great customer service. They changed the channel on the TVs for me. They bring the food to you even if you sit outside. Good for groups if you sit outside. I always get the Cornish hen but the other stuff looks good too. Prices are fair. Not cheap, but not too expensive.

Overall 3.5 stars. Located in the Haagan shopping center(BTW, Haagan grocery is closing 1st week of November) where Studio Barre is located(next to Rubios/Pizza Rev) it was convenient to go there after my barre workout. I went because, courtesy of a Unilocal/Studio Barre event a couple of weeks ago, they gave away free coupons for appetizers and a chicken kebab. So the only thing We paid for was a gyro wrap. It is pretty pricey for the serving size. Spicy Cilantro hummus(comes with either pita bread or sliced veggies) $ 4.50(free, courtesy of Unilocal giveaway coupie): Very spicy, in a good way. Flavorful. Hubby & I enjoyed it. Little small– just a scoop of hummus. On it’s own, I probably wouldn’t pay $ 4.50 for it, especially since Trader Joe’s is close by and I get all of my hummus there lol Chicken kebab(non-menu item?) $ 6.50(free, courtesy of Unilocal giveaway coupie): It was nowhere to be seen on the menu the $ 6.50 coupon item. But nevertheless, we got something lol. It came with 5 little pieces of chicken and few veggies. The chicken was very well flavored/seasoned and cooked to perfection. I HATE dry meat, on the few occasions that I eat it. This chicken breast was perfect. Wish there was more of it. On it’s own, very pricey for the very little amount you get. But very delicious tasting. Gyros Wrap $ 9(paid full price for it): Good serving size. I wish I would’ve ordered the chicken wrap(based on how the chicken thingie I got was so good), as this gyro was very thin, and very tough and dry. It was pretty hard to bite into/chew. Comes with a side salad, which was your good, basic salad. I wouldn’t order this again. Overall consensus between me and the hubs… we’d come here again if in the shopping center and didn’t have food at home and I had a coupon(I’ve seen mailers, so I’ll save them from now on). On it’s own, for the serving sizes, they’re pretty high priced. I would stick with the chicken and not do the gyro again. And I’d also skip the pricey appetizers. Love that they have all natural protein, free range, vegetarian and vegan options. Also, service was excellent. It’s fast food in terms of you order at the counter then they bring you your food. They kept coming by to take away plates. Better service than sit down restaurants, which rounded them up to 4 stars. Oh but their bathroom is just one uni-sex bathroom. It was crowded when we went about 5:30pm so I guess they’re doing well.

Mismanaged location. Wife ordered online for pickup. Excessive wait and wrong order received. I should have checked the bag closer after watching another customer go back and complain the order was wrong. Won’t be coming back to this location anytime soon.

Luna Grill is conveniently located near me, right off the 56 in a plaza close to a high school. The restaurant is a little small, but when I went seating didn’t seem to be an issue. The staff were really polite and nice. It’s always better eating at a place with good service. The portions were enormous! My family(with four people) ordered three dishes and a side of sweet potato fries. We were all full and even had leftovers to bring home. The food was very tasty most importantly. Awesome food and awesome service, what more can you ask for? Will be back again.

Great customer service from one of the managers, Laura, from the moment we walked in, She was friendly, helpful and patient while we decided on our selection. The menu has changed a little bit since our last visit, but things are still, thankfully the same. My compliments to the chefs, the bistro filet beef kabob was perfectly cooked, full of flavor and very tender! The plate was packed full of basmati rice with a little saffron and a nice salad, grilled carrots are always my favorite! Everyone checked in our dining experience including the manager. Overall, a great, filling meal!

Let me start by letting you all know that I work next door to Luna grill, so I like to think I’m sort of an expert. My coworkers and I eat on average 2 meals a week from here and have explored most of the menu and LOVE it. About every couple months I will switch up my normal order, but right now it’s all about the flat cut chicken kabob. It’s especially delicious accompanied by their pita bread and served piping hot(which it always is) The staff are great and you can tell they bust their asses to keep everyone happy and the food coming out when it gets real busy. Anyway, foods awesome, staff is great, all in all a great place to be right next to. My only suggestion to people is if you are in a huge hurry to call and order ahead because they get really busy around mealtimes.

If you’ve never had Mediterrenean food and wanna give it a try, Luna Grill is a great restaurant to have your first experience in that. It’s an up and coming chain restaurant in San Diego that offers fresh Mediterrenean food with a very simple menu. My personal favorite is the Mediterranean chicken plate. It consist of lemony flavored succulent all natural chicken, basmati rice, grilled tomato, house salad and two pieces of pita bread. This plate gets me so full and the price is decent at $ 10.50. The service is always good at any location I go to and the restaurant is clean with very simple modern décor. Overall, I like Luna Grill for their easy menu. I’m sure there are a lot of other authentic Mediterranean food places out there that are better but this place will suffice if you just want a quick fix. Another good thing about this place is that you can always order online and they also do catering. I recommend it if you’re ever in a situation when you don’t know what you want but you need something fast but not like fast food burgers or mexican food.

Just tried Luna Grill for the first time and had such a great experience. The food was delicious!!! I got the Gyro plate and my husband got the Bistro filet beef kebab and we were definitely satisfied with the taste and the portion size. Also a big shout out to Cory and Kim who were super understanding and accommodating when I needed to make a change to my order. We will definitely be back! Thanks again.

Mixed feelings on this review; very good food but customer service needs help. This review encompasses two visits with different experiences. My first experience was ordering online. It was simple enough to use their website and even make some modifications to the standard order. By the time I got there, the order was ready and waiting for me. I picked up my order and sadly, when I got home there was a message from the manager that they had given me the wrong order! I had ordered food online for six people and the order they gave me was enough only for four people. Furthermore, it was mostly beef and we had ordered exclusively chicken and couldn’t use the meat. My initial action was to get right back in my car and make the long drive back and get the food we ordered. But it was late evening, the guests were here and I just didn’t feel like spending time in traffic again so we suffered through with what food we could eat. I was prepared to write a fairly negative review, but I know their food is good and decided to give it another try. And to clarify, I have been to this particular restaurant many times but this is based upon my last two visits. The more recent trip I decided to go in and place my order in person. There was a young man taking the order whose mind was clearly elsewhere. We ordered the Chicken Kabob dinner, Gyro Sandwich, Large Hummus order and Spinach Pie. However, when I ordered it, I literally had to repeat each individual item at least three times. He seemed distracted and barely was paying attention while I tried to place my order. Most of the time he was looking elsewhere and only looked at me to say, «what was that?». It only took about 10 – 15 minutes waiting to get our meal and we checked everything before leaving. So, in review, the hummus is good but the pita bread isn’t. Tastes store bought. Too thick, not warm and fresh tasting. I would have done better to go to a local grocery store and buy pita and cut it up myself. The Spinach Pie is I’m guessing their version of Spanakopita. Not sure why they don’t call it that, but it comes in two large pieces and they are warm and fresh. This is quite good. The Gyro Sandwich was below average. Most places will over stuff the pita with the meat and this place actually does the opposite. There was very little meat. There was some lettuce, I don’t remember seeing any tomato and no onion. Again, on a pita that tastes old and store bought, not fresh and warm. Very disappointing. Last was the Chicken Kabob served with a bed of rice. They definitely serve some of the best chicken of any Persian/Mediterranean restaurant in San Diego. Big, juicy pieces of boneless chicken breast and they give a generous amount. The rice is typical basmati rice but sadly, instead of saffron, they use a sort of yellow coloring to give it the appearance of saffron on the rice, so you lose out on that special flavor in the rice that you get in most other places. Basically, it’s a fast food. They don’t seem to really care about the quality of the food. They are unquestionably busy. Each time I’ve been there is a crowd and there are bags of food lined up waiting to be picked up. I can only assume the people who come here aren’t aware of all the other great Persian/Mediterranean restaurants that serve quality food and for the same price. Actually, some of the nice places I know actually have cheaper prices than Luna Grill and far superior food. And again, it’s evident in their customer service. I placed a rather large order and can’t understand how they can give me the wrong order. So disappointing especially when you are bringing it home for a party. And for the person who did order it, I can only imagine their surprise when they had to wait to have their order prepared again since they gave away the wrong order. But it wasn’t a one time thing; when I went in and the person at the counter who clearly couldn’t care less about what I wanted and could not take a simple food order. I gave 3 stars because the food overall is average and they use recyclable containers for their to-go food which is a huge plus for me. But I know of many other places that make the same food and significantly better(Alborz, Marketplace Grille, Grenadine). If someone else orders it, I’ll eat from Luna Grill but doubt I will return of my own choice.

I continue to have good luck with Luna Grills’ around town, which continues to encourage me to visit them. This time, I came in for lunch and ordered the single grilled chicken wrap and a bowl of their hearty lentil soup. As you usual, you order at the counter, take a number to your table, and they bring over your food. The young lady who served me was great and had a great sense of humor. which made my lunch meal all the better. The lentil soup, was first for me trying at Luna, and I was pleasantly surprise on how well it was prepared. The lentils were abundant, well cooked to a tender touch, and tasted great. The soup base was well seasoned and arrived piping hot. The soup also came with a few vegetables and they were good. I would easily order this again for the $ 4 price. The grilled chicken wrap was very good as well. It came with plenty of tender chopped chicken that perhaps could of been seasoned a little more, but the fresh flavor of the other ingredients, specifically the yogurt sauce, quickly masked that. The pita bread was warm, fluffy, and moist and the perfect vessel for the wrap. You can also get the wrap in a multigrain flat bread. This made for the perfect simple lunch. Like I said, service was very good and the food hit the spot in more ways then one.

First of all props to Luna Grill for being one of the everlasting businesses in this Torrey Highlands center. It seems like new restaurants pop up all the time, but can’t seem to stay, i.e. Peri Peri, the wine place before that, Bread Bites and Moore(remember that restaurant?!), that cupcake place, etc. So, Luna Grill must be doing something right??? I walked in on a weekend around 2ish. There were people dining but it wasn’t particularly busy, plus it seemed all the other diners already had their food. Another patron walked in right behind me and neither of us were greeted other than a brief look towards the door from the employees behind the counter. We formed a line in front of the registers, all two of us, still waiting to be acknowledged or told what counter to walk up to. I counted four different employees who looked at me, remained silent, and continued on stocking spoons or heading to the back kitchen. ??? I almost walked out right after counting the fourth person, but my mom wanted soup. And my mom’s wants trump everything. After one of the aforementioned employees finally acknowledged my presence, I ordered a Lemon soup to go. I was told it would only take 1 or 2 minutes since it would just need to be ladled into a bowl. 10 minutes later I was finally out the door. Perhaps it was just an off day… *shrug*

There is not many quick places to eat off Camino Del Sur. Luna grill was a nice addition to the plaza area because of there not being any Mediterranean style restaurants. What I Had: Ground Sirloin Combination Plate + Baklava The Good: Food all around was decent; the roasted tomato is a nice touch Quick service, only waited about 10 minutes Large portions(see photo) I liked the side salad — it consisted of cucumbers, onion, tomato, and mixed greens. Dressing was on the side The tzatziki sauce was very yummy! I wish I had more The baklava was done right, crispy, not overly sweet, and well sized The to-go packaging is fantastic, not your typical plastic bag. Very clean/modern inside. Large menu’s up high. Friendly staff The Bad: Too much rice! The meat was not seasoned; very meaty taste(if that’s what you like) Price is about what you’d expect @ ~10 dollars Does not really set itself a part from other notable Mediterranean grills. I do plan on coming back here. I recommend you try it out yourself. Kudos to the manager!

The restaurant is a order first, then sit-down type place. We ordered the Cornish Hen plate with rice and vegetables and a side of falafel. The portions for the plate are enough for 2 people; we split the plate among 2 people and it left us feeling very full. The Cornish hen was very tender and flavorful. The falafel was just okay… a little grainy/beany which I was not a fan of. Overall, the food here is delicious! I highly recommend.

Just picked up dinner here for 5 people and will definitely be coming here more often! We didn’t phone ahead because we didn’t know our exact orders, although we could have because they have an online menu. I ordered the chicken kabob plate, but we also ordered a luna burger, kids chicken kabob plate, and a falafel wrap. All were enjoyed, and the kids meal was free since it was Tuesday! ‘Kids Eat Free on Tuesdays’ = if you order an entrée, you can get a free kids meal. My sister had been here before and loved it, but also said she had never got takeout before. She initially noticed that the portions seemed to be smaller when you get takeout, and they definitely do look smaller than all the plates that we saw while we were waiting for our food, but I couldn’t even finish my plate so I didn’t mind. From our order time, it took about 20 minutes for our food to come out which was a little longer than we were expecting but I guess that just shows that it’s made fresh! I would recommend eating in the restaurant if you have the time, and seems that everything on the menu is delish!
