I come here every time I’m in town and it never fails me. Campeon burrito if you like carne asada. 5 stars!

I have been to this taco shop several times. I like the fact that you can see the kitchen and what they are doing in it. food taste good and its clean. I like their California Burrito and I do not recommend the Mexican Breakfast Burrito. Friendly staff and fast service. Prices are okay for their location. Very small dinning room. You can enjoy a nice walk in Mission Beach after you eat since the shop is right net to it. No privet parking nor street parking, but there are plenty of public parking close by.

The atmosphere here is divey and touristy, but the food is great and the prices are good. I had the fish tacos and I would highly recommend them. They tasted fresh and the slaw on them was exactly the right texture and taste with the delicious battered fish. I would go back here again.

Good enough tacos! But the sign outside clearly shows tacos for 2.85 including asada, chicken, carnitas and al pastor. After I was charged $ 3.61 per taco and given no reasoning why the sign says something different I decided this probably isn’t a place I’ll visit again. I thought there were laws against false advertising.

I had a great meal at Maria’s Taco Shop. The location seems a little touristy, but I still thought the food was great. The salsa bar was very strong with 5+ salsa varietals, pickled carrots, roasted jalapenos, and habenero peppers. A strong salsa bar allows the diner to mix an match the aforementioned items and fine-tune where on the Scoville Scale* one would like to dine. I appreciate this level of customization. I had the Carnitas Burritto Special plate which included, guacamole, sour cream, and beans/rice on the side. The pulled pork itself was the perfect mix of being really tender and also really crispy on the edges. The tortilla was the flakier type, which I actually prefer to the standard tortillas that most places have. The portion size was quite large. Again, overall a great meal. _____________________________________________________________ *

The price is right. Fish taco for $ 2 each! Hard to beat that. They have a nice salsa bar where you can get differ at type of salsas and peppers. Love it! So good for a snack. Would go back.

Wow, this is a taco shop across the street from the roller coaster. Unbelievably bad. Ordered two carne asada tacos the most basic of Mexican food. Corn Tortilla was cold, tacos were slapped together like they feeding animals. Absolutely no taste and who knows what kind of meat was in them. Tried 4 different salsas each one of them also had zero taste. In addition to make things worst is this is probably the most expensive taco stand in San Diego. I get it location, location, location to that I say at least serve up some half ass food. …Compared to La Playa, La Perla, Taco Surf, PB Bar and Grill, Oscars or Ramiro’s in Pacific and Mission Beach these fools are impostors. Can’t believe PB bar and Grill is better than this place. Don’t waste your $ on this place.

I was looking for authentic Mexican food and I thought I had found it when I saw this place. Wrong! It was bad! Pretty tasteless and the portion was really small.

This place is very narrow with the tables and chairs. Their burritos were small for the price. It was ok, but I don’t know if it was worth it. The horchata was good but it had very little ice. They have a salsa bar but when I went to check it out, many of the containers were empty. Some looked like they had been sitting for a while and I was disappointed. Overall, service was alright, the food was alright, and the location was ok.

Fish tacos were good and the carne asada fries were pretty good too. Would recommend for anyone who wants a quick bite.

I had dinner at Marias after hanging out at Mission beach. There’s nothing fancy with the place itself but it’s quite alright actually as it projects that feeling as if you’re in Mexico(although I have never been!) and you know, you don’t need glamorous. All you need is good and cheap authentic mexican food. You’ll find Marias Taco shop at the entrance to Mission Beach away from the usual touristy spots. Not the best mexican I’ve had in San Diego but it was pretty still pretty good.

No attempt at customer service during checkout. No receipt. No ice in my large horchata. Chicken tacos below average.

We spent the weekend right in Mission Beach and visited Marcy’s Taco Shop after all of the great reviews on Unilocal. We tried their rolled tacos(insanely good!!!) and their Marcy’s burrito, which had grilled chicken, rice, grilled veg… some other stuff but didn’t include sour cream or guac, which I usually demand in my burrito. Decided to go with it and am glad I did — tasted really fresh and not heavy or overloaded with stuff. Just good food!

I liked my fish tacos(fried, not grilled), but wish I had requested the guac and sour cream on the side, as they completely overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the fish. I also wish they would use less cabbage, as large quantities of it also undermined the fish itself. I LOVED the fresh salsa/condiment bar. They have two red salsas, two green salsas, pico de gallo, roasted jalapenos, lime, radishes, and this amazing chunky green sauce that is spicy and amazing. I poured it all over my rice and beans and was in heaven. Being served on cheap styrofoam platters was kind of a let down, but this place is kind of a dive, so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. And their napkins are so small as to be useless. But for $ 6.50 for two tacos with rice and beans, it’s a great deal for good food.

Delicious carne asada and fish tacos. There’s a lot here on the menu, but that’s as far as I have sampled. Prices are fantastic, and portions are generous. I loved the sauce bar at the back with so many interesting flavors mixes to choose from along with limes, peppers, etc.

Took the kids to Belmont park while on vacation. We were early so we wanted to grab some brunch. I turned to Unilocal to help decide between Marcy’s and Roberto’s. As usual, I was not disappointed with my decision. I had a crispy shredded beef taco and a baja fish taco. Both were delicious. I also sampled the enchiladas which both of my kids ordered. My son had the chicken and my daughter had the cheese. Once again, very good. I am not a big fan of beans, but my daughter is an aficionado. She proclaimed them to be very good. As others have said, the salsa(red) is very tasty. Lastly, the food is cheap, which is kind of surprising considering the location.

Maria’s( ) Taco Shop(located across the street from the roller coaster in Belmont Park/Mission Beach) is easy to miss since it is dwarfed in size to its next door competitor, Roberto’s( ). Add the other variable that Santana’s moved into the neighborhood across the street from Roberto’s, well, it’s triple-threat taco fight to the death! As I walked in, I noticed a wall covered in styrofoam plates( ). Drawn on each and every plate are depictions of people vomiting and defecating — supposedly after eating at Maria’s. ACTUALLY, they were«thank you» messages from those visiting from different countries, which was kinda cool. In line, there were two girls in front of me that were sporting those bug-like Paris Hilton-style sun glasses. Lucky for them, they(the girls, not the sun glasses) were pretty damn cute, so they were somewhat forgiven. They ordered California burritos which caused me to witness the horrendous act of the cook scooping carne asada from a metal container on the grill which, in turn, caused me to silently weep. I quickly got over the carne asada thing and took a closer look at the girls. So here was the scenario: The Woman That I’m Currently Married To was watching me watch the two cute girls in front of me(though not being too overly and obviously pervy about it) watch the cook who’s watching them. Yes, it was practically a scene out of a movie. A movie that may or may not include Oprah, Judge Judy and the publicist of Jennifer Anniston(not the current one but the one that she had from ’03 through ’07) involved in a lesbian triangle of passion featuring international espionage and intrigue. Anyway, I asked the guy behind the counter if they had pollo asado but he stamped DENIED on my forehead by saying that they only had shredded chicken. I asked about the breakfast burrito and, if my mammary serves me correctly, I believe the guy said that the potatoes were fries — which I passed on as I usually do. Fantastic! My choice is the breakfast burrito and since they don’t accept plastic, you’ll be expected to pay for your food items using American currency. I carefully watched the cook as he prepared my burrito( ) to ensure that he didn’t add anything unwanted such as cockroach legs, clumps of dirt, rocks, hair and flies — items that have supposedly been included in other burritos(that I’ve read about in other reviews) though not at Maria’s. I was given my food which turned out to be a thick-ass burrito. I cut that baby open and just by the look of it, I knew I had a winner on my hands. What did it look like? Breakfast burrito # 86 — Despite Maria’s serving premade carne asada and only shredded chicken, I have no problem giving Maria’s Taco Shop a 5 star rating for its AWESOME breakfast burrito. It had perfectly cooked eggs, great bacon and cheese — all with no oily aftertaste whatsoever. I told the cook that he created a breakfast burrito masterpiece and that Roberto’s AND Santana’s can both gargle a glass full of monkey testes for all I care.
