The only place we go for the freshest, tastiest and BEST fish taco ever. I need not say more!

Best fish taco I have had, at least top 3, and that is saying A LOT! Go ahead, judge the place by its looks and location, shorter line for the rest of us!

…like others, i came across this by way of another website. wish i’d tried it sooner, this stuff is fantastic. the soup they give you while you wait is fairly simple but tasty. now that the weather is cold i think it’d really hit the spot. the fish tacos were likely the best i’d ever had. good portions, good flavor, no nonsense. its something like a couple minutes from the border which really chaps my ass since i live in santee. not sure i can bring myself to drive my gas guzzling truck from santee to there. but the point is that i really want to. so ya know how on occasion you see a REALLY hot guy/girl at the bar whos already with someone? and you really, really wish you could have some of that? these tacos are like that =D

They say that there is no «Hidden San Diego»; just a boring sea of strip malls and a downtown with some fancy but not great restaurants. This belies that rule. I’m not sure I would call this a restaurant or a food truck as it is stationary. It would be a hole in the wall if it had a wall. What it is, is a stationary food truck parked at the back of a small parking lot of a liquor store located pretty much under the Beyer street 905 overpass(a minute off of I5). In front of the truck is a small a stand up table and two«benches» each consisting of, as I recall, two long 2x4s supported by cinder blocks. It’s great. I mean really great. Looking for outstanding exceptional Mexican seafood. Here it is. Note, Mariscos is Spanish for seafood, so I’m told. So, unsurprisingly, there are other mexican seafood trucks with like names in SD. They are not associated. This is the one featured on TV on the cooking channel. on Taco Trip SD: We had the tostada with a mixture of a lot of excellent fresh seafood and a lot of it.
I’m a pig and it was filling. It’s one of the best damn things I’ve had in SD. We also had their 7 chillis(spice) fish taco. It’s not fancy but really good. This place really relies on the quality of its seafood and it’s excellent. Re: Beverages: They only sells pineapple soda(more sweet than anything else) but you can buy other beverages from the liquor store(market). I met the owner and chatted with him. Really nice guy. He’s very proud of his place and it’s well deserved. I will be back. You should go. Now. Note, we went in mid afternoon well after lunch so there was no line(there were about 10 of people though). I suspect if you go there at meal times that won’t be the case and the parking lot is small. About my 5 star rating — Unilocal is an odd thing. Obviously, this is not top notch fine french food and if I was going to just a very good french restaurant I wouldn’t give it 5 stars. However, relative to quality Mexican Seafood, it’s the best(i.e. a relative rating with respect to this kind of food)

Best fish and Diablo shrimp tacos. So worth the drive. Bench seating or you can stand at the bar height table. I think they provide tap water but if you want soda, get it at the convenience store. Will definitely be back!

Love the Mariscos here! Used to live close by & stopped for early lunch. This place can get packed & you may need to wait a minute but if you don’t mind… it’s going to be worth it. I’ve had the cocktails, tostada de ceivche de pescado & camarones, & aguachile verde… all super yummy & had never gotten sick. I know a lot of people have reservations about eating seafood from a food truck but this place is top notch. Parking is sort of a b****. The food truck is located in the back of a parking lot for a liquor store.

After discussing the high quality of Mariscos at El Mazateño in Tijuana with a friend recently, I was referred to a food truck behind a liquor store off of Beyer Avenue and the 905 freeway in Otay Mesa. He described it as «the best seafood that I’ve ever had». He wasn’t kidding. On my first trip, I ordered the Marlon taco, a shrimp taco and a fish taco. Each taco had a huge portion of fish inside and I could tell the seafood was really fresh. The Marlon taco was especially outstanding… With cheese melted around the fish… Bell peppers, celery and seasoning. I was so hungry and the tacos so delicious that I forgot to take pictures before I tore through it. Short of going into Tijuana for fish tacos, this is my new go-to place in San Diego. Thankfully, it is close to work. No more fast food or Subway sandwiches on the way into work for me! Mariscos El German is LEGIT.

I stopped here with my family this past weekend while visiting San Diego. The tacos were better than anything I’ve ever had. Their spicy fish taco was excellent too, and each taco had ingredients which complemented each other. For example, the spicy taco had avocado on it to balance out the spiciness. The rest of their seafood was excellent as well. The oysters were some of the best I’ve ever had, and their tostado loco, basically a bowl of ceviche, tasted like it had been caught that day. In addition to the food, the owner was great as well. He was extremely friendly and went out of his way to explain the menu to us, not to mention several free samples of different things on the menu. From the service to the food, this unassuming taco truck nailed the perfect seafood restaurant. It will definitely be a stop every time I’m in San Diego from now on.

One of the best if not the best fish and shrimp taco I’ve ever had. Hands down. The batter was super crispy and the tortilla was soft and warm, fresh cabbage… and I couldn’t count the sauces they had. people just standing at tables throwing back tacos… Then I got the shrimp tostada. by far the freshest one I’ve ever eaten. So good. Go here. It’s like 20 minutes north of mexico. I have no idea what’s German about this place… lol

Definitely a hidden gem! Their fish tacos and ceviche de camaron were on point. It was their oysters that made it 5 stars for me though. Who woulda thunk that the best oysters ever comes from a food truck?! Screw the white folks way with the cocktail sauce and horseradish! I thought the Japanese dressed oysters in a very good way before this… but Mexican style oysters are theeee best. They’re worth the drive down to the border!

Holy hidden gems Batman! I’m going to say it. This is the best food truck in SD. Possibly the best Mexican seafood as well. It’s too bad it’s way the hell down by the border. When I say way down, I mean like 3 feet off of it. Everything we had was great. The fish tacos, the shrimp ceviche tostadas, the soup. But the best thing they have, possibly the best offering of its kind in SD, were the oysters on the half shell. Which is weird, I know, to say of a food truck… I’m as shocked as you. They were perfectly fresh and I now will only eat Mexican seasoned oysters. Screw the cocktail sauce and horse radish.

A few months ago I read this article about one man’s quest to find the best fish taco in SD: Spoiler alert: It’s here at this unassuming little food truck, tucked away behind a liquor store. After a day in Tijuana(and a surprising lack of tacos) I remembered the article, and we stopped on our way back to SD. I have to agree — best fish taco I’ve had here. Perfect amount of crunchy. Perfect blend of flavors. Giant tacos for a cheap price. Free cup of soup(no idea what it was, but it was savory and delicious.) No long lines. Worth the trip, wherever you are coming from. Go make your stomach happy.

This place is right next to a ghetto liquor store right before the 805 freeway. It’s a truck so don’t expect anything fancy. Me and all my friends got a fish taco. The price was like $ 1.35 and it wasn’t even Taco Tuesday. The fish portion was pretty big. I was quite surprised. Beware of the onions! They are super spicy and my friends who put the onions on are people who love spicy food. So you’ve been warned. Pros– 1. Big portion for fish taco 2. Cheap but sooo goooood 3. Oysters looked really good and were pretty affordable. 4. Fast service 5. They offer some free soup thing which looked good but I didn’t get it Cons– 1. Parking sucks 2. 2 exits away from the border so be careful

BOMBASSFISHTACOS! These are some the best fish tacos I’ve had. The batter is light and crisp, the fish isn’t soggy and oily, and the slaw and sauces had good flavor. The best part is that these things are only $ 1.35! So cheap! I got 3 fish tacos and 1 shrimp. The shrimp tacos were good too but I liked the fish more. I definitely recommend this joint to anyone looking for some fish tacos or just simple, amazing food that won’t break the bank. Be sure to bring cash!

Excellent baja fish taco, perfectly cooked — an almost impossible feat gauging by other baja tacos I’ve had — not mushy, not soggy, not greasy, not flavorless, just fresh-tasting, deliciously-battered, crispy-crusted, and a warm hug in my belly. It’s admittedly a hike down to almost-Mexico, but it is 100% worth it. Bring cash and a appetite. You’ll want seconds.

Best fish taco I’ve ever had! Best ceviche too! This little taco truck in the back of a liquor store parking lot has some of the best street food ever. The fish tacos had a crisp fried batter with a delicious slaw and the green sauce(perhaps a verde, but infinitely better than any verde that I’ve had) was spicy and tasty. Eat them there, if you wait too long the batter on the fish will get soft and you’ll miss the crispness. While both the fish and shrimp ceviche were amazing, the fish is definitely the way to go. Lots and lots of flavor here. Friendly service. Sketchy location. Food more than worth it.

This is the best fish taco in all of San Diego! They give you a nice big hunk of fish that is crispy crunchy and fresh! The batter is tasty, light, and fried to perfection. All of the other ingredients are delicious and not overbearing on the fish itself. I do not think that the tortillas are homemade however. I think that the shrimp Diablo taco is much better at TJ oyster. I was not a fan of the shrimp Diablo here. It was extremely spicy and they leave the poop chutes in the shrimp. I do like spicy but this was to the point that you could not taste anything else and I broke out in a immediate sweat. The owner Jorge is a real pleasure to meet! He saw me sweating out the diablo and came over concerned lol. He let me try another piece of fish with the seven chili spice marinade which I must say was amazing. If you do not want fried fish and you like spicy get the seven chili marinade! You can taste the complexity of each chili and it is quite extraordinary. He does have another truck fairly close on Hollister, so that’s why there are two Marisco’s German this was the original and it’s hidden behind a liquor store. He did used to be in South Park years ago but his cousin has that truck now and it’s not the same.

I read an article the other day from a national media outlet saying this was the best fish taco in san diego. I’ve included the link here: After reading that, I had to give it a try. Especially with some of the other places on the list ranked below. I wasn’t disappointed one bit Its located right off the 905 at Beyer Blvd in a parking lot by a liquor store. I ordered 3 fish tacos, have to say I was impressed. Perfect amount of everything, cooked all the way through, just the way I would make it myself if I was able to make it that good. Ive had some good fish tacos, but in no way do i consider myself the expert to say«its the best.» I will say it was damn good and ill be going back and exploring some more of the many delicious looking options I saw today. Keep it up
