Luis and his crew are honest, kind, knowledgeable, reasonable and respectful. Luis has maintained our Toyota van with care for the more than two years we live in San Diego. If the repair did not work perfect the first time he always fixed it without charge.
We moved and tried out another mechanic and what a difference, we went back to Luis right away even if we have to drive quite a distance. It’s worth the drive for the piece in mind that our car and we are in good hands.
I can only recommend him and his shop.

I HATE taking my car to the shop. I’m always sure I am going to get ripped off. After reading all the good reviews I decided to give Miguel’s a try and I am glad I did. Luis was great — he communicated with me at every step and in the end the repairs were totally reasonable. He even put 10 dollars of gas in my car and didn’t charge me! I will definitely go back.

Ive lived in the neighborhood for over 20yrs and have been to Miguel’s several times! These guys are truly the BEST!
I recently went her to get a (STAR) smog test and it took less than 5 MINUTES and cost 50 bucks! NO WAIT! Run, don’t walk here to get the most amazing friendly service. THANKS AGAIN GUYS!

I have been here a few times for oil changes. I’ve referred other folks in my hood to this place too. Always had great service but today was amazing! My husband and I were out in front of our house (we live ½ block from this place) when one of the guys that worked there offered to help us for free! He charged the battery on my husbands car for a few hours and was so kind. You don’t find kindness very often these days. He had our business before, but he definitely has ALL our business now!!!

I live fairly close to this business, so I used them out of convenience, that said, I thought they did a great job. I got an oil change, had a check on some mechanical issues, and got my smog done here. My impression is that this is an honest auto shop, which is already saying a lot. Beyond that, they were punctual, they called me when the car was ready and they got me a missing part when I needed it, and I appreciate that, I will go back to them again, and if you live nearby, I recommend giving Miguel’s Auto a try.

This place is awesome. Great prices and even better service. I’ve been in the San Diego area for a decade, now, and I feel like I had yet to hit on a consistent and affordable mechanic. I hadn’t even looked at the Unilocal reviews for this place before dropping in for an oil change (I know– that’s kind of a huge sin in the Unilocal world…) and ended up getting my car back in record time for the best price I’ve ever paid for an oil change. Plus– they’re walking distance, which is probably the biggest plus of all! Nothing like going home for a snack while waiting on your car. I would definitely recommend them– even if you’re not lucky enough to be within walking distance!

I had one previous visit at this shop and that was great, no problems. The second time though was a waste of time and money. My car had all the symptoms of a dirty/​clogged fuel filter so i took it to him and requested a new fuel filter. For some reason he has a problem with changing out fuel filters because he went on a speech about all the things that could be wrong. But he finally agreed to change it, after i dropped it off he said they’d call as soon as it was done but i never got the call. I waited the entire day and called 15 minutes before closing and he told me to come in to pick it up. When i got there he told me he didnt change my fuel filter, all he did was hook up my car to a diagnostic machine and he told me the problem was due to an ignition problem. UGH, i waited all day for that?! 3 days later i took my car to pepboys and requested a new fuel filter and diagnostic. They found NO issues including no ignition issues and they changed my fuel filter and PRESTO! all car issues GONE! luis charged me 65 dollars for NOTHING and wasted my day. Overall 3 stars just because of my 1^st visit otherwise it would be ZERO

Honesty is the only way to describe Luis’s business; I took my cars to several shops and this is the only one I am using now for 2 years. You just need to go to your mechanic, ask for a quote for whatever your car needs, stop by at Miguel’s and find out what people is saying… not sure about Lisa Marie’s comment, dude so much hate! wonder what is going on becuase one thing is for sure. This place rocks!

Wow, WOW, Wow! BEST customer service ever at Miguel’s Auto Service in South Park. My hubs was out of town and the check engine light came on. Miguel’s fixed my car quickly and it was very affordable. Not only did I get it back the SAME day, he came and picked me up at my house a mile away to get it. ONLY mechanic I would ever refer someone to in San Diego!

I won’t go anywhere else. Alfredo at Miguels Auto Shop is very honest. Prices are fair and he doesn’t rip you off. Have referred lots of people.

Very friendly place, took my car yesterday morning for a brakes job and the price is very reasonable and fair! It was my first time but Miguel shop will by the shop for me from now on when my car need maintanance!

Miguel’s hooked me up! I had a bad brake caliper on one wheel and s bad hub bearing on the other in my old subaru wagon. They fixed it right and for a good price!!!

There did me right. All other shops were charging 50% more for what I needed done. I got it done fast and friendly. Thank you.

Awesome service. Luis is honest and trustworthy. They have a new customer for life. These guys are fast and won’t charge you ridiculous prices for quick fixes. Definitely will be recommending them to family and friends !

I barely write review but this place helped me so much that I feel i have to recommend it. First of all, The shop owner Louis is a wonderful honest man with experience.
my car had check engine light on and battery was almost put and my bf told me to take it to Miguel’s auto services. After they told me it would be 100 $ for the battery change, I asked would it be cheaper if I bought my own battery and bring it here? And he said «of course yeah and then I’d install it free (: «Just like that.
For my check engine light, I had 2 other shop told me it’s spark plugs and head gasket and will cost me 1300 $. They were wrong and trying to cheat. Its only took miguel’s auto services 10 minute to solve the problem, which was broken coil. In total it took them 1 hr to fix all car problems but they didn’t even trying to charge me until o offer them payment how much I think they deserve. I really appreciate their service and I think i finally found a trust worthy mecanic.

I hate to have to downgrade my review after having such a stellar initial experience here. Unfortunately, my subsequent visits have only been «OK.» I recently took in my van to be serviced, and they mentioned that I needed a part and found a used one for about $ 400. After giving them the ok, I found what I thought to be comparable used part online for around $ 150. I know it’s my fault for not checking before, and I believe Luis when he says that was the only part he found. Still, given the price difference, I would have preferred a quick «hey, this seems a little pricey for a used part, so you might want to wait.» It technically isn’t really his obligation to do so, I know, but to me that would have made the difference between a 4 star and a 5 star review.
What really bugged me, however, was that I was called about half way during the day to say that my van was ready for pickup, and when I said I couldn’t pick it up until tomorrow, I was told I needed to pick it up that day because they «need the space.» I get that they need space, but I was very patient (never rushed them) and I was spending over $ 700 at your establishment; is a half a day really going to create a huge inconvenience? Eventually I was told I could leave it there and pick it up the next business day, which I did. When I picked it up I was asked to pay a higher amount than originally agreed upon. It wasn’t a huge price difference, but it’s the principle. Fortunately Luis agreed to charge the originally agreed-​upon fee. I was then told the agreed upon price was a «cash» only price, and that I couldn’t pay with card. This wasn’t a huge issue, but I wish I knew that ahead of time so that I could have stopped by the bank beforehand.
When I finally got the keys and entered the van, I noticed it was left unlocked while parked on the street. I know it’s old an not the nicest vehicle in the world, but there was some stuff in there that I would have been upset had it been stolen. Fortunately, it seems to be running well. I don’t doubt the quality of their work. I have been going here for years and the work always seems to be done well. I was just a little underwhelmed with customer service as of late.
I’ll probably give them another shot in the future, but at this point I’d be open to giving other places a chance too.
***Update *** 09-​22-​2014
I took my car in to Miguel’s to have my radiator, camshaft sensor, and two O2 sensors replaced. Luis provided a very reasonable price (less than half of what the dealership quoted) and completed the work the same day I brought the car in (I called ahead to give him a heads up on the work I needed done). He even threw in an oil change because of my last experience (see above — after I wrote the previous review update Luis made a point to call me, apologize and offer to make it right. To me that speaks volumes about their desire to maintain customer satisfaction). When I got my car back everything was running smoothly and so far I’ve had no other issues. I will continue to take my vehicles back to Miguel’s in the future.

I have been going to this place for years. I recommend it to everybody.
I always get an honest answer, whether its good or bad… theres been couple of occasions when I thought something was really wrong and was prepared to pay big bucks just to have them tell me not to waist my money on that! They don’t wanna charge me for something I don’t really need.
And prices are affordable!
It is a small garage so sometimes you have to wait a bit… but to me its worth it to know my car is on good hands.

This Shop is the Best in Town! He is a smart mechanic and very friendly. He fixes what needs to be charge and never over prices you. He offers great helpful advice on maintenance on your car. I been going to him for 13 years. His door is always open and he is either under a car, on the phone or helping someone. He gets the job done fast. GO NO WHERE ELSE. He is the best mechanic! This is a one stop shop here. Thank you Luis and your mechanics!

This review is long overdue. I’ll still give this place an additional star cause I think Luis is a nice guy and they honored their warranty. Anyhoo, a colleague of mine recommended this place. I had a regular mechanic in Chula Vista, but I moved up north, so I needed someone closer. I came here to get my brakes replaced and was able to pick up my car after several hours. I didn’t notice it right away, but after minutes of driving around, I started hearing a slight squeak every time I would hit my brakes. Mind you, before taking it to the shop, my brakes did not squeak AT ALL.
I thought maybe it’d go away after a while, but NOOOOOO it just got worse. So, a couple months or so later, I decided to take it back to this place. Told them about the squeaking, and they took my car back in with no extra charge since it was still under warranty. At this time, I also asked them if they could replace both my battery terminals since they were starting to corrode. So, when I got my car back, I decided to inspect the terminals before I left. For some reason, they decided to just change one terminal because they felt that the other one was still okay. WTF. I asked for both to be changed and paid for both. They didn’t even say anything until I freakin mentioned it. Rude.
Anyhoo, I had to wait AGAIN, while they replaced the other terminal. Luis said they resurfaced my rotors again, etc… so, it seemed okay when I started driving it home. The following morning, there it was again – only this time, the squeaking got worse :(.
I waited a couple of months thinking it would get better, but nooooo. Finally, I decided to take it to another shop, but this time, back in Chula Vista. They inspected my brakes and said that the reason why it kept squeaking was because whoever took them apart didn’t even put them back correctly!!! Never again am I going back to Miguel’s!!!

After driving my car around for the better part of a day not noticing that I had a flat tire, I consulted Unilocal in order to find a local repair shop in order to patch the tire.
Miguel’s Auto Service has 5 Stars for a reason! Luis picked me up from my house, drove to my car, pumped the tire up so that it could make it the 6 blocks to his shop, and then proceeded to patch the tire in less than 5 minutes! Great guy with great customer service! Sometimes when you read all 5 star reviews you think something fishy must be up but NOT at Miguel’s!
I found my new mechanic :)
