Last fall my husband and I decided to purchase a retractable screen for the door to our backyard and pool. We chose Mirage because a friend in San Diego has a few of their doors and loves them. From the time we called for an appointment, we have received excellent service. The owner, who arrived on time for our meeting(YES!) took the time to explain how the doors work, all the components, reviewed the warranty, and helped us select the color. He was friendly, professional, very thorough, and respected our home and our needs. 2 weeks later, Mirage called to let us know our door had arrived and we scheduled an installation. Again, the installer arrived on time, was very professional, courteous, and cleaned up after the installation. He also took the time to review how the doors work and the basic maintenance needed. Several months later, we love the retractable screen, and have recommended Mirage San Diego to several neighbors. Great company, product and customer service!

Nothing at all against this company, but the product is the absolute worst investment I’ve ever made. It never opens or retracts properly, the screen is fraying and I wish I had purchased a regular screen door. I thought it would be a good investment because the doorway is narrow, but I was very, very wrong WITH this decision. DON’T GOWITHRETRACTABLE!

So they didn’t come and get the screen doors but at least they put in the locks that they were suppose to do on the original install. I had to email several time to find out the status and would still say they aren’t very customer friendly. The installer was great. I think that he is contracted by mirage. Now I have to spend more money to buy something to detour my cat from going under the screen. Don’t buy if you have cats.

I had my screen doors installed in 2007 when we first bought our home. We installed a total of 7 screens for our double French doors. We only use the one for the backyard door regularly, and it has held up. However, I noticed the screens that were not being used regularly have fallen apart. On my master bedroom balcony door, the magnets which keep the screens locked together no longer sticks. We don’t keep the screens in the closed/locked position for unused screens. Also, the left side of the screen has come off it’s hinges and the screws are stripped. I could try to repair this, but I feel it should’ve lasted since it is rarely used. The price you pay for«Mirage» screens is not worth it. I wouldn’t recommend this company or product to anyone.

I’m surprised there are so many good reviews. I had them install a retractable screen door and it has never worked correctly. I’ve called three times, left three message and no one has gotten back with me. I will have to call another company to fix it. When I close the screen door, the screen gets jammed and doesn’t go back in correctly. There returned my call promptly for the install — skip this company. No integrity and they won’t stand behind their product or installation.

I’ve had a Mirage Screen door for about 6 months now and it’s been great. Now that summer is here and things are starting to heat up, my investment is paying off even more. :) As far as installation is concerned, the whole process took a little over an hour and once it was installed, the installer cleaned up my front porch area with a little vacuum before he left(I think he actually made it cleaner than it was before :)) The whole process was smooth and the door matches my exterior paint exactly. I just wish I had more doors to put these screens on; they’re really cool.(I couldn’t resist the pun).

I had a retractable screen installed by Mirage. The sales person who came to my house was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the product and so I bought a screen door for my french doors. The next week a young man came to my house to install the door. He installed the door to the point that I could use it, however, he told me that his tool had broken and he would have to return the NEXTDAY to cut off an excess piece of the bottom track. Also, he installed a cream colored track at the top(the rest of the frame is bright white) because he didn’t have a white one in his truck that day and that he would replace that the next day also. THREEDAYS later he returned to cut the bottom track and then he left. He told me he still didn’t have the white track and said he would return the NEXTDAY. After I had not seen or heard from him in over a week I called the sales person that had sold me the screen and told her what was going on. She was appalled and told me she would get right on it. Another 2WEEKS passed before I called her again yesterday and told her that nothing, still, has been done. She was aghast. I’m not quite as convinced by her this time. The installation person is supposed to be at my house today to finish the installation. I guess I’ll see if he shows up. Overall, the quality of the product is great. I love my screen door. It’s a much higher quality than anything available at the home improvement stores. The follow thru on the installation, however, has been a mess.

Mirage retractable screens are fantastic. We had two installed a couple of weeks ago and we love them. They are sleek and clean and allow maximum air circulation through our home — minimizing cooling bills. If they aren’t open, you would not notice they are there at all(even open, they disappear). They don’t clutter your entrance/exit or cover your nice doors, they just do their job when you pull them out and disappear the rest of the time. The company is family owned and operated and the service is beyond anything one is bold enough to expect at this point in time. The order was placed, filled and installed on time. I had a slight concern with one of the screens and it was replaced with a new one readily, with no hassle. Geoff, who also owns and operatives Torpin’s Screen Service, also put in a 90% sunscreen door to my garage which has turned it from an oven into a fresh air circulating area. He also suggested sunscreen screens on my south facing windows and now that they are in, I no longer have to close my blinds each afternoon as the screens keep most of the heat out. Even though I have low-E glass throughout the house, these new screens have made a significant difference in the sun penetration, thus leaving the house cooler without closing the blinds and losing the view. Couldn’t recommend this company or Torpin’s Screens more highly!
