A second visit to Mishmash proved very positive. I had the wonton fish tacos, featuring three expertly grilled pieces of fish atop wonton shells with chunks of avacado, mango, and fresh greens, all resting a bed of jasmine rice. Delicious, light, and healthy tasting, but a complete and satisfying meal. My wife had the Medianoche Cuban sandwich, a delicious and savory Cubano, with two types of pork meat, cheese, pickles and a generous amount of mustard on very soft freshly baked bread, toasted perfectly. The plantain chips and cilantro dipping sauce rounded out this very flavorful and ample dish. The service is friendly, and the place is air-conditioned, making for a nice, casual gourmet getaway on a hot day. On two separate visits, we have enjoyed every aspect of the experience at Mishmash.

The Mish Mash burger stuffed with goat cheese & a side of parmesan fries were so good! The meat was good quality. Our server was very friendly. The bad thing is they have limited non-alcoholic drinks, they have Squirt but they don’t even have Sprite. It has a relaxed and simple atmosphere. Will return.

My first visit MishMash and I am impressed! Food was great, service was friendly, space was relaxing! I am sold! I am going to be a regular customer here. I highly recommend the mushroom burger! It blew away my expectations, very savory! Next time you are in Barrio Logan, make sure you stop by!

My wife and I had lunch here today. It was around 1:30 in the afternoon and the place was empty. That’s normally a red flag for us, but we drove all the way there so we weren’t going to turn back now. We shared the Mishmash burger and steak fries. Both dishes looked a lot better than they tasted. At $ 17, I was expecting a lot more flavor than what the steak fries offered. The steak was cooked well, but overly seasoned with salt. The steak fries were supposed to come with two over easy eggs and duck gravy. The eggs were so over cooked that the yolk was solid and there was no gravy. If you can’t properly cook two fried eggs or top a dish with gravy, then you have a problem. The burger was ok, nothing memorable though. A ½ lb patty is pretty big, but again, the cooking execution was off as our burger was practically well done when it was supposed to be medium. The flavor of the burger didn’t stand out at all either. Idk if it was the cut of beef that’s used or under seasoning or too many toppings which cover it up, but something was definitely lacking there. It wasn’t all bad though as the burger had a nice crust on the outside from cooking it on a flat top and the bun was a nice compliment. Both dishes were big and didn’t leave us with any room for dessert. We went to lunch with a big burger craving and came out of this visit feeling like our craving was unfulfilled. Not sure we’ll go back again.

This place has personality. And if I come back it will be for the burger that was really good! It’s a small place with a small menu, some interesting art graffiti style graphics on the wall. Really good burger as I said, personally I wasn’t a fan of the pork belly with brussel sprouts. The cubano sandwich was good maybe kind of authentic but I’m not really a fan of that sweetbread torta style bread they use. Some people probably like it a lot but it wasn’t for me. I can tell the owners are really trying to put on a good show here, and I like it, it does have kind of a cool vibe about it. I might be back at this place if I’m Downtown and in the mood for a damn good hamburger. I recommend you try it if your into the hipster vibe as well. Or if you are near downtown it may be a interesting experience worth having, come and see what you think Happy eating!

Best handcrafted, real food in San Diego! The owners are there everyday putting their heart and soul in their food and overall experience. You’ll see when you dine there. This is a small business and it shows in how dedicated the chefs are to making the perfect meal for you. There’s no fake food from a package or frozen bag… the ingredients are fresh and real. No corporate crap here. Probably the best burger and fries in San Diego. Lots of healthy options as well, and they’ll gladly substitute for specific nutritional needs. Go have an amazing meal and support a local small business(and help Barrio Logan become SD’s foodie/art goto neighborhood!).

The food was great! The staff is extremely friendly! And more so I love that the owners come by and ask you about your meal they do very well with suggestions to their food all in all I love this place I recommend this place to anyone who wants to unwind and have a tasty burger with some extremely amazing truffle fries and the medianoche is amazing too !! Their take on the famous Cuban sandwich reminds me of childhood memories going down to the local market and getting one from the old man that was straight out of Cuba I wish I had more thumbs to give

I was very disappointed at the lack of flavor in my dinner tonight. Perhaps I ordered the wrong items? I see now that the the burger is highly recommended. The menu wasn’t very exciting, so much so that I was hoping they had a second page of options. My beer glass had old tajin on it… Not mine. I doubt I will give this spot a second try.

Probably the best burger I’ve had in a long time! Had the Clinton cooked medium well. The cooks are on point here, was cooked perfectly. I had no complaints about the Clinton and the goat cheese was a good touch! I’m for sure coming again and will reorder it! I did have the pork fries with everything on it, cooked perfectly, but being a San Diego native I’m used to fries having no beans, so it was pretty overwhelmingly when it came drench over all our crispy fries. I didn’t ask for them off of it since I had to try it first before I changed what was given! I’ll definetly come back, try them with beans on the side!

Very clean, and spacious his own way with modern table and chairs. The food? Let’s put it this way: I expect this place to be featured on the food network soon! The owners are fantastic people and that comes out in their food. I visited this place with celebrity chef Frankie«The Bull» Terzoli. We ordered the Cuban sandwich, the triple D fries, pork belly and the fish tacos. ALL were absolutely delicious, with the Cuban having a distinct flavor due to the medianoche bread that they make in house. The presentation was flawless and the flavor of each entrée was something to savor. Go. That’s all I can say. Taste and see for yourself. You’ll thank me. I can’t wait to taste the hangover fries being the fry junkie that I am.

I was on a Northgate Market run to pick up fixin’s for carne asada. Although it was only 1:30 in the afternoon, it was 5 o’clock somewhere, so I decided to stop by Iron Fist’s Barrio Logan tasting room for a beer. Last time I was there, I’d seen the menus for the burger joint next door and decided to give the place a try. I stepped in to MishMash to order. A friendly person behind the counter quickly took my order and, within a few short minutes, I was next door at one of Iron Fist’s tables, sipping a Renegade Blonde. The MishMash crew is used to Iron Fist’s patrons ordering food, so they bring it right over when it’s ready. Even with the included(and very good!) fries, the Parmesan Mushroom Vegetarian Burger seemed a bit pricey at $ 12, but I had no regrets once I tasted it. Hot and juicy and filled with mushrooms, parmesan and, apparently, oats, the patty was the star of the show. The melted mozzarella and the crunchy fried onions added extra flavors and the delicious bun was soft and tasty but still solid enough to contain the burger. I’m generally a meat-etarian, but the umami flavors of all of the ingredients combined to make a delicious and satisfying burger for anyone, vegetarian or not. I’m almost certain to be found on the patio at Iron Fist enjoying a PMVB from MishMash again sometime soon!

While enjoying a drink at Iron Fist, I knew had to try a burger at the neighboring restaurant. Ordered the Mishmash Burger and it was honestly one of the top 10 burgers in SD. Brought the dog and had an excellent meal. Can’t wait to try the gourmet burger next time. Barrio Logan keeps getting better and better. Glad to have a place like this with easy parking.

I visited MishMash during their opening celebration day. I actually just ran into it. I was looking forward to a tasty burger. The place was sorta empty inside everyone was hanging outside due to the music provided for the grand opening. The burger itself was good, goat cheese, fried onions and egg. I also tried the michelada, it was undrinkable. So spicy and not in a good way, this coming from a Latino that loves spicy stuff. The beer selection was just ok, I’d go over next door to Iron Fist for brewskis. Here is the kicker, the service on grand opening was so poor. I was greeted upon arrival. Our waitress who at some point became the bartender was confused about her role in customer service. After greeting us it took a long time to get her to come back. I actually had a different waitress get out order. I saw another waitress just cater to a specific table she never left them, they where her friends. It was very unprofessional. After getting our food our waitress never returned, I saw her making drinks behind the bar. I asked for our check which was incorrect. What a let down, I really want to like this place. The burger was pretty good but with the kind a service, I rather not.

So first let me start by saying I love burgers, but am veryyyy picky and typically only get the meat and cheese on it. With that said you have to have some amazing flavors going on in your meat to wow me with something I like so plain. Mish mash did just that! I got the house mish mash burger and the Parmesan fries and WOW! It was so amazing. The burger patty tasted so fresh and juicy, and was cooked all the way through like I like it. The mozzarella was such a nice compliment to the type of bun they use as well. I can’t wait to go back, and plan on making mish mash a regular spot. OH! And the best part? They have a brewery, ironfist, connected to them and will bring you your food while you sip on your craft beer. Thanks for the sweet, friendly, and quick service along with the bomb food. You guys rock!

03/10/2016 — SD Burger Week brought us here to Mishmash. In talking to our server, I found out that Mishmash started as a food stand at farmer’s markets a few years back, but recently moved into this location about 6 weeks ago. The place was easy enough to find. It is located on National Avenue in Barrio Logan in the Mercado del Barrio right next to Iron Fist Brewing and a few doors down from Fathom Crossfit. Our server was friendly and personable. She told us about the burgers available for San Diego Burger Week. They allowed us to mix and match the sliders(two come in one order). All of the sliders sounded good, so we ended up ordering some of everything. 1) 3.5 /5.0: The Classic MishMash Slider mozzarella cheese, crunchy onion and garlic aioli. Everyone enjoyed this one. Some people felt that the crunchy onion only offered a change in texture and didn’t provide actual onion flavor. Others felt that there was enough flavor and liked the mix of textures. 2) 3.0 /5.0: Spicy Jalapeño MishMash Slider. JP was the only person who ordered this one. He ended up telling me that it was okay. He felt that it wasn’t spicy enough, he rated the spiciness level mild at best. 3) 3.0 /5.0: PB&J Bacon Slider. We didn’t know what to expect with this one. The complaint across the board was, «Where is the J in PB&J?» Everyone that ordered this one couldn’t taste any of the jelly. I thought I’d enjoy it more or taste something different after each bite, but nothing changed. It wasn’t terrible, I’d rate it as just okay. We all agreed that the fries were probably the best thing of the meal. We liked the re-fried beans, guac, cheese, pork belly, sour cream, and salsa verde. We rated the fries 4.0 /5.0. 3.5 /5.0 — Food 4.0 /5.0 — Service 4.0 /5.0 — Atmosphere /Cleanliness Overall, I like this place and I’d like to try more items from their menu.

Stopped by to indulge in the burger week specials and I was not disappointed. The mishmash burger was tasty and cooked to order along with duck fat fries with Parmesan. Next up the jalapeño slider was also quite good but nothing out of this world. Now the PB&J slider with bacon was a game changer. As soon as I sank my teeth into its flesh I was blown away. I’ve tried PB on a lot of different things but never on a burger and my god am I glad someone broke that barrier.

I love new food in my neighborhood. I’ve already tried the stuffed burger, the veggie burger, the Cuban torta and pollo a la parilla, everything is delicious(made from scratch) and run by an awesome couple, the service is impeccable, I’ve yet to try the nitro ice cream;) I’ve also enjoyed some yummy adult sodas.

Did I come on an off night? Am I too spoiled by good food? Was what felt like a street mall in Barrio Logan a weird thing? I am part of gentrification, so who am I to say, but if you cater to us… 4 of us went to Mish Mash for dinner the other night. I was expecting seriously awesome food, and was fairly unimpressed. I’m admittedly hard to impress these days. I did not have the beef burger so take my review with a grain of salt. My cuban sandwich was ok. My michelada was ok. Everyone’s review that night was«Eh, ok». The chef came over to ask us how our food was. We replied with some informed feedback, but he was more excited to tell us why his food was amazing than to listen to our feedback, which he asked for but didn’t really listen to. If you make food in San Diego, you have to expect some people like us that have eaten at hundreds of San Diego restaurants, some of which are pretty amazing and strong in our memory to compare to. Plus there’s no shortage of burger and beer places in San Diego so there’s some stiff competition. The service was pretty fantastic, timely and helpful. I’ll go back and am excited to try the burger and improve my review. Looking at all the other reviews, I feel like I maybe came on an off night.

I had never really considered opening a Unilocal account to review a restaurant until I dined at MishMash’s new restaurant in Barrio Logan. I have been going to MishMash at breweries up north since I got to San Diego a little over a year ago because I really believe they have the best burger(the one stuffed with goat cheese) I’ve ever had, even better than Kuma’s Corner in my hometown of Chicago(see ). That being said, since they opened their new location in Barrio, I have been working to become a pescatarian, so I’ve begun to explore other items on the menu(just about daily). I have not been disappointed. The Wonton Fish Tacos are probably my go-to item on the menu; I’ve included a photo of them(be sure to get them with the tomatillo). In addition to the Wonton Fish Tacos, I’ve also been really impressed with the Vegan Tempeh Tacos topped with the peanut-chipotle sauce and served with the soy chorizo frijoles. If you’re going to grab a burger and fries in San Diego, this really is the place, and it has some really flavorful and thoughtful vegetarian and pescatarian options. I’ll be back.

Like the other reviewers, I also found their gourmet burger to be the best I’ve ever had. I got it stuffed with goat cheese, and in all sincerity, there isn’t a spot in San Diego that can compete with the burger or their parmesan fries. Be sure to get their homemade garlic aioli for the fries. We didn’t get it, but when we were walking out, we could hear a couple talking up the duck fat fries… next time. My husband and I started with the ceviche, which is flavored to perfection and presented beautifully as if you were eating somewhere in La Jolla at a $$$$ bistro. We then ordered the gourmet burger and parmesan fries and followed it up with some made-to-order homemade icecream topped with berries. «Yum» would be an understatement. Oh, I almost forgot, their homemade jalapeño soda rocks. We’ll definitely be back to try new items; the group next to us raved about the pork belly.

I like that they go to different breweries around Vista. They have a really good selection of food to choose from. They have burgers, fish tacos, chicken and French fries! Their vegan tacos are really good. I’m not vegan at all but i ordered them because they looked good and they were! I liked the flavor and how spicy they were. I also got the kitchen sink fries. Wow those things are sooooo freaking amazing! They come with Parmesan, bacon, a fried egg and garlic aioli dipping sauce. The fries are more than enough for a meal. It took 2 people to eat all the fries. They had a ton of flavor and I would totally get them again

Bottom Line: MishMash Gourmet is a mobile food stand that has a small menu that packs a big punch. MishMash Gourmet was onsite when I was at Booze Brothers Brewing and I was excited to try their food. A big part of the reason why I choose BBB for my Thursday night out is because not only did they have a food vendor, but they had MishMash which has some solid Unilocal reviews. Anyway, the first priority was absolutely beer but once my crew was half a pint in, we placed our orders with MishMash. Here is what I like about MishMash: — They are creative in their pairing which is what makes them gourmet. Not only that, they use quality ingredients and everything is made fresh to order. — They offer several burgers which are made using a big, juicy patty. I had the Clinton burger and it was very tasty but I think it’s absolutely one of the messiest things I’ve ever eater. Definitely grab about six napkins if you order the burger. I was drawn to the Clinton burger because of the goat cheese but it’s the bacon, fried egg and fried onions put this burger in a league of its own(and probably a few people into cardiac arrest!). — Many of my brew crewers ordered the Wonton Fish Tacos. These were not what I expected but everyone really enjoyed them. The Wonton Fish Tacos consist of crispy wonton shells packed with cabbage and salsa and then fresh fish is laid on top. Three wontons are served over a bed of rice. This is definitely the less glutinous way to go. If you are searching for something really healthy, then you can get a salad too. If you are out and about and see MishMash set up, stop by their stand and check them out.

I still every now and then think about the perfection of these burgers! They catered my to my birthday guests last April since I was having my festivities at the brewery they were going to be at that day. The bun is toasty and the meat is well seasoned and FRESH and juicy! Doug(owner) is also very kind and hospitable! I will be enjoying myself another burger ASAP! Please check them out everyone! Found this amazing food stand at Council Brewing. Ordered their Clinton burger and discovered the greatest burger I have ever had! I have sought out the best burger places all around the country and here this was in my backyard! Juiciest burger ever and the combo of goat cheese, their burger patty, the runny fried egg, and bacon made this a home run for me. It is insanely juicy so prepare accordingly. How is that not a great thing? Wow. Will be searching for them next weekend.

Went to Alesmith and found Mishmash a few days ago, and I’m still thinking about their organic grass fed angus burger. Seriously, the patty was so juicy and delicious, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had. Filled with a good size patty that is cooked at the right temperature and just the right about of onions, the combination makes he perfect burger. We also added the kitchen sink fries which was just as good, definitely try that with the white sauce. Overall it was a great meal, and it all goes perfect with the beer. Prices were reasonable, being gourmet and all. Serving size was good, and it didn’t take long to get our food. The woman that served us also made sure we got all our orders, even when we had a large group and a few misunderstandings. Glad to find this little gem, and support local gourmet foods. Definitely hoping to find this food truck again!

Oh… my…GLOB! Quite possibly the best gourmet Burger I’ve ever had. This company catered BeerCon 2014 and I’m glad they did! Though I wasn’t drunk when I had the burger and fries, I was drinking beer, and it pairs perfectly with it. Just enough salt and grease.(It’d be perfect drunk food too). The burger is seasoned to perfection! Salty, peppery and meaty! The bun was slightly toasty/crunchy and the burger was topped with mozzarella cheese. The burger was sooooo juicy too! The fries were equally amazing. I’m told they have a stuffed goat cheese burger and something they call«The Clinton Burger» with fries egg and bacon. I NEED to try that. I hope they set up a permanent shop soon! This place would rival(if not beat out) 50/50, Umami, etc. Right now they are just a «pop up» business(you call them, they set up and serve). FYI, once I try a few more burgers/items off the menu, I’m confident I’ll be updating this to a FIVESTAR review.
