8 and 12 were amazing. 3 was nice but a little dense with meat for us. Our favorite local dumpling place so far. Way better than dumpling inn for dumplings.

OHMYGOSH!!! This place is incredible! Ok, so they first opened in LA and won best restaurant in their area! They came down here, I magically discovered them by walking by. I am SOOO glad I walked in! So $ 8 will get you 4 huge dumplings!!! You can have all of 1 kind of 2 different. This was my second time here and we ordered 2 pork dumplings and 2 red bean! INCREDIBLE!!! We were lucky enough to have had Ashley help us! She is sooo sweet and just so nice! The owner is lucky to have her! Anyway, if you’re thinking of stopping in, you won’t be disappointed!

Nothing like eating some nice piping hot dumplings on a cold day! Yum! Food: 1) Kimchi dumplings: I was told that the kimchi won an award here and I can see why! It’s really flavorful and tastes different than all other types of kimchi I’ve tried! Really put a nice kick into the dumplings! 2) Kimchi buns: These things are SOOOBIG!!! They have a picture menu here and you know how sometimes you look at a picture of food and you expect it to come out way smaller, but in this instance, it was the opposite! The buns looked way smaller in the picture and when it came out, it’s like the size of a baby’s head! But I’m not going to complain, it was delicious! But honestly, eating one of these will probably fill you up, so eat with caution, because they are delicious and will tempt you to eat more! 3) pork and shrimp dumpling: I ordered another dumpling from here, I think it might have been pork and shrimp… but I kinda don’t remember, but it doesn’t matter, because it was also very delicious! The skin on these hand made dumplings are all so thin and the texture is just perfect! Service: Very friendly, fast and nice! The waiter gave us great suggestions on what to eat! Tea and banchan is served to you! The banchan here is also very good! Ambiance: Just an open dining area that feels like a «order at the counter, take your number to the table, and bus yourself» type of places, but it’s actually not, there is actual waiter service here. I guess it’s just more set up like a take out place, that’s why it feels that way. It’s not too heavily decorated but it does give off a Korean vibe! Price: I think for the quality and quantity of the food you get here, it’s very reasonably priced! Overall: I really like this place and can’t wait to go back! I also just have to throw out there that I love dumplings so my review might be just a little bit biased!

Last night, my husband and I watched some food porn hosted by a certain celebrity restauranteur and traveler who profiled a dumpling house in Los Angeles. We declared we would take our little one and have a dumpling lunch somewhere on Convoy the next day. A Unilocal review led us here and we were not let down. Unbeknownst to us, it was the first San Diego branch. One of the two people featured on the episode was even eating his lunch there. We had the #3, spicy steamed pork and shrimp, and beef dumping soup. The #3 was especially good – the delicate wrapping belies how substantial these dumplings really are. Spicy but not overwhelming. This was my 10-month-old’s first time eating Korean food, and she loved it, even gobbling up the pickled vegetables. I have only been to one other dumpling place in San Diego, but this place far exceeded the standards of their offerings.

Open everyday at reasonable hours! Hooray. Spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. Long tables available designed for larger parties, most likely for family gatherings. Ordering is easy, just pick a number. Peruse the menu to see what you would like. You might think they’re just dumplings, but really they are stuffed with a ton of ingredients. They also have soup, fried rice, and a casserole option which feeds a group of people. We got the #1(king steam dumpling), #4(shao mai), and #9(dumpling beef soup). The king steam dumpling is true to it’s name — they’re HUGE! It comes with four and can easily feed four people. The ‘king’ dumplings are easily fist sized. The shao mai was easily the tastiest from the group. I would recommend getting two orders and sticking with it. The beef soup was definitely underwhelming and looked nothing like the picture. Broth tasted like nothing, very bland. Dumpling meat also lacked flavor and need more seasoning. Overall, we did enjoy our meal and received excellent service from the waitress. She was very attentive in making sure our water was filled and reassuring us constantly that our order would be out soon. Glad we spotted this location since Korean dumplings are certainly not common.

Ehhhhh this place is mediocre :(I was getting a smog check across the street and got hungry, so I ventured over here. I saw this place open a while back, but never got a chance to try it so I figured«why not?». I sat down and a very friendly waitress who speaks little English came to help me! She was very sweet and tried her best to answer my questions. I ended up ordering a #3, which is the spicy dumpling with pork and veggies I believe. It’s what many on Unilocal mentioned in their reviews, and what Anthony bourdain had apparently tried. I must say, I was prettttty disappointed. I’m from up north, near LA area, so I’ve had my fair share of Asian food. Maybe I’m just spoiled or have my expectations up too high, but the dumplings were so underwhelming. It came out steaming hot, with a saucer of hot sauce in the middle(see picture). There really was nothing special about it. I also tried #1, #2, and #8(my friends were nearby and ended up joining me. LOL). The fried dumplings(#8) were definitely the best part of the meal, and even that was again, mediocre. The buns were quite large, and the bread was really soft, so props on that! If you’re craving dumplings, head over to dumpling inn instead =\ Parking SHOULD be ample as the lot is a decent size, but it’s usually pretty crowded. Idk the total because my friend paid for the entire meal, but each order was about $ 8-$ 10!

I heard about Myung In Dumplings from Travel Channel with Tony Bourdain. All I remember from the episode was that the difference in the dumplings is that it is a hybrid between a Chinese and Korean dumpling. I’m just glad that there is now a location in San Diego. No need to travel to Los Angeles to eat this. Woot woot! For me personally, I’m a big fan of their steamed dumplings with pork and shrimp. *Licks Lips*

Location: Location: It’s in the same location as boba time and Roadem BBQ. Décor: It was very bright and clean. It had more of a noodle house feel with the plastic table and benches. Food & Drinks: They were very accommodating to my vegetarian Fiancé. They were able to make a couple of options vegetarian if we wished and that was really nice. I can’t remember what we ordered unfortunately, but the dumplings were extremely good. The smaller ones or the larger ones were really well made with a think skin and maximum amount of filling. The taste was really great and they also had SIDEDISHES! This was not something I was accustomed to while eating dumplings, but was a pleasant surprise. Overall, if you like dumplings you should definitely give this place a try! Happy Stuffing Dumplings my friends!

Had a pretty strong craving for dumplings and stopped by this place for lunch. I think this place just opened and from the signs, Korean dumplings. We ordered so many dumplings. WAY too many. Each order is paired with an image so definitely you will know what you’re getting. #4 Pork and shrimp shao mai 10pcs — I dont think that this is exclusively Korean but if you have had shao mai before, it is as you should expect. The ones they serve here is pretty good. Lots of flavor, tasted fresh and good size. #6 Steam dumplings with vegetables 4pcs — these are not dumplings… these are STEAMBUNS… oh my god. Overall they are quite good but one of these are a meal on their own. #7 Boiled dumpling with shrimp, pork and veggie 12pcs — these are good. Definitely on the larger side of dumplings. I highly recommend these as a standard order. This place is awesome. The plaza is hard to park in but the restaurant isn’t crowded. The service is good and the food was served quite quick. I’ll be back to try other items.

I’m surprised this place is not more busy! The dumplings are delicious and the soups are good too! We ordered way too much food for 3 people. We had enough leftover for feed 3 people again for another meal. We ordered: 1. Spicy steam roll dumpling with pork and shrimp($ 10). This was not something i’d expect from a Korean restaurant. Reminded me of dim sum but it was good. Comes with a spicy dipping sauce. 2. Kimchi wang mandoo $ 8 — The best part about this is the bun. So light, soft and airy. The filling was pretty good too. Flavors of pork and subtle kimchi. 3. Fish cake with dumpling casserole $ 34 — this was the main dish and star of our lunch. Came on top of a camping stove and it boils at our table. We got medium spicy and the soup comes with udon noodles, enoki mushrooms, chives, napa cabbage, homemade dumpings, fishcake and rice cake ovals. Tasted just as good as a leftover. Plus free banchan: Shredded cabbage with dressing, pickled daikons and jalapenos, and kimchi. Service was excellent. The nice lady kept checking up to see if we needed water or banchan refills. Total after tip = $ 60
3.5 stars rounded up for the nice service and cheap prices! They appeared a bit understaffed but the nice lady was quick and attentive still. Another good place in Convoy. This place is unique in that it focuses on Korean dumplings. Each order is about $ 9 – 10 and is VERY filling. The dumpling sizes are larger than what I expected. My boyfriend and I ordered 3 plates and we could only finish half. I love the spicy soy sauce they serve with the dumplings. Our favorite was the #12 that came with 6 pieces of pork and vegetable dumplings($ 9). It had clear noodles inside. Very tasty and didn’t have too strong of a flavor. I also really liked the #8 fried dumplings with shrimp, pork, and vegetables($ 10). You can’t go wrong with the fried outside. We got the #4 shao mai($ 10) which was steamed dumplings with pork and shrimp. It was the least favorite of the dumplings I had but still pretty good.

I dropped in this place after karaōke on Saturday with my group of friends who were hungry after singing for 4 – 5 hours straight. The only large seating area was on the left side upon walking in nearby the hallway with the bathrooms. I believe I ordered #7 which was boiled dumplings with shrimp, pork and vegetable. I could only vouch for my own which was delicious. It reminded me of home cooking. Décor and the menu were pretty simple and straightforward. Bathrooms were ok clean. There was a TV but it is located on the right side of the wall when you enter the store. Waitress was mainly Korean but she understood English pretty well. If you want, you could also point to the one you want on the menu and say something that sounds like«E-go ju-se-yo» which means I want this. Would come again. That entire plate of dumplings filled me up satisfied.

Delicious! I have to admit that when I walked in, the simple décor and small menu had me a little worried of if the food would be good. I was guilty for judging a book by it’s cover! We ordered the Shao Mai and the rolled dumplings and both were delicious. This was my first time trying Korean dumpling and the side dishes that we were given to eat with the dumplings made everything so much better. I think I will eat all dumplings with pickled veggies from now on =D, Thanks for the tip Myung! I would recommend this place to my friends. Much larger portions than Din Tai Fung and it is cheaper and more filling =)

Ordered #4, 7, and 10. The shai Mai and fried dumplings were my favorite up here and what I’ll be ordering every time I come here. The other dishes are ok. Parking in the plaza is hard because of all the small spaces. The waiter was very attentive and I never had to ask for a refill. It’s a nice place, but I would just come here for those 2 dishes.

Excited to try any place with dumplings in their name. Like the big open space walking in. A little surprised at the menu. Expected more options, but I did like the sounds of a lot of them. Get an iced tea and the beef dumpling soup. I really wanted soup and had a hard time debating over the clam soup or the pork & kimchi dumplings. Tea came out and tasted a little weird to me. Strong after taste, but not bad. Banchan was a little boring. Kimchi was bland. The pickled daikon and cucumbers were my favorite. The cabbage salad had too much of the sour mayo dressing on it to eat. Soup was pretty good. Beef dumplings were tasty, but expected a little bit more since dumplings were in the name. Hate to be one of those people that say this, but true. Broth and cabbage were nice. Gonna come back and try more dishes and hopefully bump this up some more.

For a place that specializes in dumplings, the dumplings were… not very good. We tried the big, fluffy king steam dumplings and they were incredibly bland. I can’t remember a time when I’ve had dumplings and didn’t even want to eat all of them. Usually, even mediocre ones are still good enough that I want tons of them! But I didn’t even finish one. We ordered another bunch of steamed dumplings; I don’t even remember which ones because they were also very bland. Dumpling fail. Aesthetically, however, they were beautiful – perfectly folded like little purses with a tiny garnish of filling on top. Sadly, the interior taste didn’t match the exterior’s flair.

Came for lunch as a party of 4. It’s in the same plaza as Boba Time. The establishment is clean and well lit with high ceiling. They have a menu above the service area, but they serve menus when you are seated too. Served with iced barley tea, kimchi, marinated radish, and a simple shredded lettuce salad. We ordered 4 items. Kimchi King steamed dumplings — bao style(comes in 4) Kimchi King steamed dumpling Korean style — these are actual dumplings(comes in 6) Spicy steamed dumplings with shrimp and pork(8) Fried dumplings(10) Comparatively, the prices are $ 1-$ 1.5 more than their K-town location. Regardless, we were all pretty filled, the portions are huge. The kimchi king steamed dumpling is as big as the serving bowls! Their Korean style counterpart is about 3 mouthful! My favorite feature of Korean dumplings in general is their use of thin dumpling wraps, even the bao style. The mandu I had in Seoul were smaller but stronger in flavors. Myung In’s kimchi filling is seasoned but it’s not quite pungent enough for me. All of our non-kimchi dumplings had chives or leeks in the fillings, which eventually tasted all too similar. These fillings also contain less meat than most Chinese ones I am familiar with(other than my grandma’s Shanghai wontons). Don’t get me wrong, they are not necessarily bad by comparison, but I hoped for variety in flavors. My favorite had to be their Korean-style kimchi wang mandu — the wrap has a chewy al dente texture! I also really like the spicy shrimp and pork, the spicy sauce is a bit tart and complemented really well with the protein in the dumplings. Service was attentive, I didn’t even realize they refilled my barley tea. You can also buy their items in frozen forms to eat it at home!
