NEX Mini Mart

Usually I’m pretty satisfied with this mini mart. It has everything you need however, I informed the lady at the register that they had fresh cut fruit in their refrigerator without a use by or sell by date on them. She seemed to not care at all and I’m sure that fruit is still in their fridge which is a health hazard. I will go back and check after lunch to see if they fixed it if not I will continue this review and probably never shop there again.

I’ve been to Naval Base San Diego for school and other stuff and this NEX Mini Mart has always been conveniently located where I’ve stayed. Never had to come here late, but during normal hours it seems to have everything I need in stock. This last visit for whatever reason you had to get the frozen stuff from the employees. I don’t know what was going on, the cooler seemed to be working, but I did not ask. Its bigger than most Mini Marts that I’ve visited in terms of square footage and stuff available, but I think it could have used more stuff in it like a Subway or Red Box. Maybe I just missed it…

My husband and I have been to several different types of NEX stores, small, medium, and large. This one is located conveniently on base and has enough variety and selections at a reasonable price so you don’t have to travel far to get wants and/​or necessities elsewhere.

The sandwiches and salads are kind of expensive for what you get but I like that they have a fresh food section for those that live in the barracks

The NEX Mini Mart has been in business for a little over 2 years now and it’s a substantial upgrade to the previous Mini Mart that was on the other side of base where the PRT course is run. If you’re in the Navy and you live on base in the barracks or privately owned apartments, you could do a majority of your grocery shopping here. They have fresh Seattles Best Coffee waiting to meet you as soon as you walk through the entrance and there is even a beer/​wine cooler walk in fridge in the back corner. Don’t tell anyone — but I used to walk in there on hot days just to cool off…
You can find a really good variety of items here ranging from canned foods, to liquor, to laundry needs, toiletries, beverages, uniform items, magazines, etc. Moral of the story — if you need it, the Nex Mini Mart most likely has it. If you want fruit and veggies or need a bigger selection, just drive 3 minutes away to the commissary.
I don’t spend much time on the «Dry-​Side» base anymore, but when I am — I know the Nex Mini Mart is at my beck and call…

Simple and quick. What more can you ask for.

Open 24 hours and they have a walk-​in chill box for their alcohol. ‘Nuff said!
