We came to this spot after a fun show at a bar near by not really expecting anything but to fill up on burritos and tacos but we were all pleasantly surprised, not only does the food taste great but the décor is bright and fun, we will definitely be back thank you Nicos!

My favorite carne asada burrito place in San Diego. It’s something about the way they grill the meat that is difference maker here, it always tastes so fresh. Staff could be a tad bit nicer but whatevs I don’t come here for the service, I come here for my BURRITO.

The breakfast burritos are amazing! So are the rolled tacos. They were so hot from the fryer I had to wait to eat them. Definitely love coming here!

I love this place!!! It came highly recommended for the breakfast burritos and sure enough… they are fantastic. I love to eat here after morning workouts or a walk on the beach. The staff are super friendly and the service is fast. When I first moved to the area, a San Diego native told me that Nico’s is a «must try» restaurant and a local favorite. Now that I’m a local, it’s my favorite too!!!

Don’t waste your time or money on this place. The people that work there are very rude and they over charge for there below average food. I got a bacon breakfast borrito. The bacon was hard as a brick and the eggs tasted like they were cooked in burnt oil. All the tables were dirty and I was the only one in there. All I have to say is how this place stays in open and is not shut down. Recommend go somewhere else.

When it comes to breakfast burritos, theirs is perfection. My friend and I split a bacon/egg/cheese/potato breakfast burrito, and it was nicely filling. Their tortillas are delicious, the green salsa is lightly spicy, but flavorful, and the ratios of everything in the burrito were just right. It’s a super small place and crazy cold inside, but it was worth paying for an Über to go there and try it. I would definitely hit them up for breakfast if I were visiting San Diego.

I’ve only been here one time but I liked what I tasted! I’m somewhat of a burrito connoisseur and this place quickly hopped in my top 5 range. I thought this Nico’s location tasted way better than the one located in OB. The only draw backs was the extra price for spicy carrots and no salsa bar?! The burrito itself was hella good though.

Nico’s breakfast burrito with no meat and avocado was tasty and good for its value! My friend got a chicken burrito and all it was was chicken and a lot of sauce… so, if you expect your burrito to have additional foods enclosed including rice and beans, make sure to check your order. The tortillas tasted like they were homemade. So good! Should note that I’m vegetarian and don’t like cilantro or spicy food. I was successfully able to navigate the menu based on my preferences.

My dad used to bring Nicos home a lot years ago and I always loved their carne asada fries. I recently tried their rolled tacos and they were very good. My husband loved their chimichanga even though it came covered in sauce which he normally doesn’t care for. The prices are pretty good although I think a little high for the carne asada fries. $ 7.50 is too much. I paid $ 4.40 for 5 rolled tacos and under $ 4 for chips with lots of cheese. The service is always good and plenty of parking since they have their own lot. Also they do not charge to pay with a card which is nice.

This review is just for the potato rolled tacos. They were good. I’ve had better, but honestly it was probably because of the guacamole and chesse. They use just cheddar cheese. I prefer the real Mexican white cheese. Looked like they had lots of business which tell me the food is good. They have a A rating.

In a town completely oversaturated with spots like this, it all tends to blur a bit. But Nico’s really makes a name for itself with its outstanding menu. Their California burrito is absolutely spectacular(and rightfully belongs in the conversation of the best in the city as chosen by the surfers re: that Thrillist list). Their asada taco is ridiculously fantastic as well — most places try and cut corners by skimping on the meat but I, no joke, had to heat up a second tortilla to properly house all of the excess meat. New favorite place!

I rarely venture down to OB, but stumbled upon Nico’s and decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was pleased. Very pleased. Compared to North County spots like Juanita’s Carnitas, Rico’s, and Nico’s Taco Shop(no relation to OB’s location), this place blows them out of the water. Taco shops are measured by their California Burritos and Nico’s was delicious. Now only if there was a place even remotely close to Nico’s in Brooklyn :(

I normally love this place. And normally love the food. But today was different! Yes different why??? Well I ordered my California burrito like I always do. Before I get into what happened today I do want to say typically the food is amazing! Burritos to die for. Roll tacos!!! Yum! But today my burrito was so good! As I was talking to my brother something poked the roof of my mouth! Damn! I was taken by surprise by what had poked me! Idk if I should see my doctor since what I bit into was a toothpick! Wow those go in the trash! Not my food! Thanks next time I will order a burrito without the toothpick.

Road tripped to San Diego with friends at the last minute and to see a band at Brick by Brick across the road. We found ourselves with some time to spare and some ridiculous hunger pains and(by pure chance) came across Nico’s and decided to take a chance. Despite appearing relatively unassuming from the outside, Nico’s holds the key to some of the most delicious Mexican food I have encountered! I was craving burritos so I decided on a Beef with Guac as an added extra– I was extremely pleased to discover that they don’t put rice or beans into that particular one– I hate rice and beans! My burrito was really delicious but it was extremely juicy… I bit into it and almost squirted myself in the eye so make sure you grab a bunch of napkins! If I’m ever down San Diego way again I will be stopping in here for another quick snack!

Do you like breakfast burritos? Of course you do. Next time you get a craving, stop by Nico’s and prepare for some amazingness. First of all, they have a Pac-Man machine. So, they automatically get points for that. Additionally, the burritos are super filling, the service is super fast, and the staff is really nice.

I tried the beef rolled tacos and the chips and guac. Really big portions, which is nice given how inexpensive it is. However, there was nothing special with regards to taste. Very average taste and everything was just smothered with sour cream, shredded cheese, lettuce and guac. However, I will say the service was fast and they definitely live up to their fast food reputation. Very clean inside as well and a decent amount of seating. Based on the other reviews, I’d def recommend trying something else or somewhere else if you’re looking for good Mexican food.

Nico’s has been on my list of taco shop’s to visit for quite long time now. This place has been highly rated by many locals, been featured in multiple articles about local burritos and just recently mentioned on 91X’s best breakfast burrito search. This of course gave the place tons of hype and sets the bar high for visiting this place. From the outside of Nico’s, it doesn’t look like much( ) with a rough exterior and old looking dining tables. One of the great things is their own private parking lot adjacent to the place next door( ). It can be hard finding parking in this area at certain times. My expectations were high walking in and it wasn’t a good sign that the place was not very busy on a Saturday night when most taco places are usually thriving with people. Upon entering you are welcomed by the friendly guy behind the register who is happy to answer any questions about their menu( ) overhead. This place doesn’t have a large variety of burritos or any special offerings here, they pretty much just cater to typical taco shop stuff. I of course opted for a breakfast burrito with bacon. The burrito doesn’t normally come with beans, so I had them add some in there because in my opinion all breakfast burritos must contain some beans. Their rolled taco orders here came in sizes of six tacos per order, which was quite the deal for five bucks and some change. They also come loaded with lettuce, cheese, guac and sour cream. Nico’s took quite a bit getting my order ready, but long waits for food aren’t necessarily always bad, just means they are cooking food to order sometimes. Perhaps one of my favorite things about this place is your ability to grab as much hot sauce as you wish, its pretty much help yourself to some in the fridge when you get your order. Of course I grabbed a ton, because I drown my burritos in it, it was tasty stuff. The breakfast burrito( ) was wrapped up in foil to keep it warm, however they are definitely on the smaller sides of things. You can tell from the picture they don’t load these burritos up like many places, it was quite skinny. The bacon breakfast burrito( ) came with eggs, cheese, bacon, french fries and my added beans. Eggs and bacon were very plentiful in this burrito, it wasn’t filled down with potatoes like most places. Bacon was quite good, it was cut into good chunks and crispy. Beans went very well with the burrito, I was quite satisfied with it. Aside from the size per cost of this burrito, it was a very good breakfast burrito The rolled tacos( ) here were quite exceptional in terms of size, flavor and toppings. The shells were crispy and cooked great. The beef meat inside was tasty and there was definitely lots of it. Some people don’t care for cheese not melted on top, but I enjoyed the texture of half melted cheese on my tacos. I don’t usually opt for sour cream on my tacos because it makes them soggy, but surprisingly enough they did not get soggy even after my trip home. Very delicious rolled tacos here, and you get six for a bit more than five bucks. Nico’s is a win on my list in terms of flavor, quality, price and their hot sauce( ) is great. The ability to grab what you need is a very generous thing for their customers. While their menu is not very large and they don’t carry a big variety of things, what they do serve is great stuff. Aside from their burritos being on the smaller side, the breakfast burritos here are indeed very delicious. They take credit cards here as well, without stupid fees. I would defintely return here to give their California a try one time.

I was craving Mexican food as I flew back into San Diego. JVs is the go-to place for my Mexican but decided to try this joint which is caddy-corner from JVs. We had a hard time finding it since its on an off street of Morena Blvd. It is located right behind the Valeros gas station in a weird intersection. What’s cool is that there’s a parking lot and street parking that’s way more accommodating than JVs. I wanted something small so I opted for the 3 rolled chicken tacos — $ 3.15. The tacos came with guac and cheese. I wanted to add lettuce and it was almost $ 1 more. Total was $ 4.09. The portion/size of the rolled tacos are small but the cheese, guac and lettuce were fresh. The service was really friendly and fast. Sauce is located in the fridge next to the cash registers. A bit on the spicy side but great flavor on the tacos.
