My daughter had a really strange bug bite on her leg that blistered my pediatrician told me that Dr. Ostrow was excellent and suggested I see her. She was right. Dr. Ostrow took pictures of it and gave us strategies to make my daughter comfortable as well as medication to help her heal. Dr. Ostrow is very knowledgeable and attentive to our questions or concerns and I would recommend her.

I had a regular skin check with Dr. Ostrow several months ago and when I asked about what she could offer for dark patches on my face, she said she could offer bleaching cream and then laser removal, but she said she’d want to do a test spot with the laser before doing all the spots, just to be sure it would work for my skin. She gave me a signed receipt: $ 450 for laser treatment. That sounded good, so I used the cream for 8 – 9 months and then called to schedule the laser removal test. It took two months to get on her calendar for the test spot, which I expected. I did not expect her office to call me at work on the day before the appointment and ask me what kind of a laser test spot I needed. I didn’t know what to answer and explained my previous visit with her. They then called me back and said the laser wasn’t available during my appointment time, even though it had been scheduled two months ago. I was ok with rescheduling, so long as I didn’t need to wait two more months, but they told me to schedule with some other Dr. Ross who I have never met before. Really? I got the total brush off after waiting two months and now I’m back to zero. I actually liked Dr. Ostrow when I met her and felt I could trust her to do this procedure, but now I have no respect for the way she treats patients. Why did she tell me she could do this procedure and give me a receipt and an appointment if she was just going to refer me to someone else? Unprofessional. Find someone you can really trust.

Dr. Ostrow is a rarity in the Carmel Valley/​Del Mar area — a dermatologist who doesn’t try to sell you expensive products and/​or services to slow down the aging of your skin.
Instead she deals with skin cancer, acne, and other skin maladies. She was wonderful with my son about a worrisome mole on his back. She took pictures and measured it and we’re monitoring it. She is also trying to help him with his acne.
Both when my son saw him and when I saw her about a mole I was worried about, she did a quick but thorough skin check to check for cancer everywhere on my body — including scalp. I would highly recommend her.

I’ve been seeing Dr Ostrow for about five years now. In my opinion, she is a topnotch dermatologist. She has seen me through two minor skin cancer operations and her surgeon work is exceptional. My scars are very minimal. Dr Ostrow seems not to have great people skills when you first meet her but I think she is just shy. I can ask her any questions about what is happening to me and she always explains everything at great lengths. When she realizes that I’m very worried, she reassures me and tells me exactly what to expect. I would recommend her to anyone, I’ve even taken my mother in to see her.

I spent more time waiting for the Dr. to show up than the consultation itself. Dr. Ostrow literally spent 5 – 7 minutes with me. After she took a culture sample of my finger, I was informed that I would get a call in 3 – 4 weeks for the results. She never really clarified what it was I might have. For all I know, it could be eczema… or something else.
It seemed like she was busy tending to other patients because afterwards, I was dealing with the nurse. The nurse was very accommodating and answered my questions regarding what I might have and the medicine/​creams for treatment.
It was one of the worst doctor visits I experienced. At least tell me what I might have and how I can treat it within the 5 – 7 minute consultation, don’t leave it to the nurse to deal with my minor problem.
