I began attending Overeaters Anonymous a year ago. Diets had not worked for me. My weight went up and down and I constantly thought about food. I was a compulsive overeater. I attended my first meeting near my home and felt comfortable and welcomed by the people there. I added another meeting or two each week then visited OASIS which is the central office as well as a place where meetings are held. I found a sponsor and began to work the steps of the program, similar to the Alcoholics Anonymous program. Weight loss is not the goal here, but understanding ourselves and WHY we overeat. I lost 30 pounds easily while following the program and was able to change some of my life-long food behaviors. I continue to work this program one day at a time. DL S.
