Pam has been cutting and coloring my hair for over 30 years. I have never had a bad experience in all that time. Pam is knowledgable, very professional and a delightful person who genuinely cares about you and your needs. Pam uses organic products that are good for your hair which is a plus in my book. I live part of the year on the East Coast and always try to fit in all my hair needs when I am in San Diego. I highly recommend Pam for all your hair needs.

For more than 3 years Pam has been my hair colorist and stylist. I am delighted that she uses organic products and I can tell that my hair is healthier than when I first came to her. She is willing to discuss pros/​cons of various style ideas and is quite knowledgeable about curly hair (that I wish were straighter). I am very pleased with how natural the color of my hair looks, people comment that I’m lucky not to have to color my hair (and unless I know them I don’t correct their faulty assumption). Pam takes her time with each client and is really committed to having people look their best. So glad that a friend of mine recommended I give Pam a try.

My history with Pam began with the passing of my old hair stylist Jon. What I’m saying is, once I find someone I like I stick with them till the end. Literally! I floated from one salon to another looking for someone who could give a good Man’s cut. At the time I was in the San Diego Men’s Chorus, and while sitting behind a fellow baritone Mark, I noticed he always had a great haircut. I asked him who his stylist was, I’ve been with Pam ever since. I like to get my hair cut every three weeks to keep it clean so have to make my appointments prior to leaving the chair. She has a very full book so sometimes I have to be a little flexible but she always gets me in. In recent years I’ve even started using some of her coloring skills. Let’s just say no one believes it’s not my own color. I’ve been to a couple of her clientele parties and my 10 years of being a client/​friend is short compared to others. There are some who travel well over an hour just to see her, to me that is saying something about her skills.

I have known Pam for over 14 years and have been her client for hair cutting & coloring. The quality of her services is unsurpassed. She has a lot of knowledge about her «craft» which then translates well to wonderful results for her clients. I have been impressed with the level of research she has done and the education she has achieved. Being a vegan organic person myself means I fully appreciate her commitment to all organic products. When you arrive you are greeted with a big smile, a big hug and a hairdresser fully committed to YOU and your needs. She is a very kind & loving person so being in her presence is just wonderful. I have always left her salon looking beautiful and feeling happy! The quality of her work… awesome. Her integrity… the highest!

This is a great salon and Pam is a wonderful stylist. Pam has been doing my hair for over 15 years and I love what she does. She is friendly and professional. The fact that she uses all organic products is a plus. I recommend her to everyone.

I was searching for a organic salon since I am pregnant and trying to take precautions. I liked what I saw and I liked the reviews. I called in the middle of the day on a Tuesday and I received a voicemail, so I left a very detailed message. She calls 2 days later! She called while I was working so I asked if she could call me on my lunch break. She said sure! Funny because she still has not called me back and that was 2 days ago. She must not need or want new clients or care about customer service so I will take my business elsewhere. So if you plan on calling don’t expect a call anytime soon or at all for that matter.

Neat factoid — did you know that human hair can be recycled? Yes, it’s true! I had read in a number of magazines about salons «going green» and using organic products, but I wasn’t sure that there would be an eco salon in San Diego when I did my Google search, but sure enough I found Pamela Nigro’s salon. I was pregnant at the time and concerned about chemicals used in coloring my hair, but I also try to use organic products whenever possible. I was out of the country on business and emailed her and she got back to me promptly to schedule an appointment. Once in her chair, we talked about trends in the industry and about the environment in general. This woman is the real deal and not just paying lip service or jumping on the green band wagon!
Her salon is in an older, established neighborhood of San Diego (Mission Hills), and it is a warm and intimate space. She really listens to what you want to achieve, yet also offers professional advice about what would work given your goals, hair type, face shape, etc. Additionally, I was prepared for the possibility that maybe the color might fade faster since it wasn’t using harsh chemicals, but the results far surpassed my expectations! Not only did her salon (or my hair) reek of chemicals, my hair was soft, strong, and held it’s color a lot longer than other places that used traditional methods (check out my hair on my profile pic, and that is almost 6 months after I had the baby!). I drive all the way from San Marcos to see her now and highly recommend her services!
