Pavona Dolci – Gluten Free & Paleo Desserts

OMG! My guests for our holiday friendsgiving party absolutely loved these delicious gluten-​free desserts from Pavona Dolci. I loved my whole experience from ordering online, on short notice, to picking up my order at a neat, neighborhood café in Mission Hills: Kettle and Stone. I ordered 4 almond with regular glaze, 4 pistachio with regular glaze, 4 almond with chocolate glaze, which were perfectly packaged for our party. Paying was quick and easy on PayPal. I highly recommend these desserts for any occasion.

I have this crazy gluten free, dairy free, low glycemic diet that I’m on! I usually cheat on my Birthday and feel a bit crapy after. But this year I decided to be good to both my body and soul for my Birthday so I found Pavona Dolci! And I’m so glad I did! Christina was able to accommodate all my dietary needs, using agave as the lower glycemic sweetener.
My friend ordered a dozen cupcakes for my 43^rd celebration. They were super super yummy! I requested my cupcakes be made with almond and coconut flour to avoid starch, so they were a lil more dense but there is also rice flour options where I’m sure they’d be even more like traditional cupcakes. Even so, I wouldn’t change a thing. The icing was delicious as well. My favorite was the chocolate with chocolate icing, but the vanilla with chai was a definite second. Posting a pic here, my friend added the embellishments.
Christina was exceptionally accommodating and I look forward to future Birthday celebrations with her treats. Oh! and she also added in some very yummy mint chocolate chip cookies!
What I need to do next is find out where in town she sells her goodies!

So, I’ve been desperate to find a desert for my 8 year old’s birthday party. He is on a grain free, dairy free, cane sugar free diet and I have not been able to find any bakery that could help me. I called up Pavona Dolci and even though the owner Christina is going on vacation the Friday before the party, she is going to bake some paleo cupcakes the Thursday night before… I couldn’t believe how awesome that is! So, I HAD to leave a review… her willingness to help out says a lot about her as the Owner and the Company. I will leave another comment after the party about how they taste but thought she definitely deserved a review now. As a working mom of 2 kids in a demanding job, I can’t explain how thankful I am!

I had the almond cake at Kettle & Stone. Impossible to tell these are Gluten Free! So moist and delicious — I would’ve gone back for another, but they sold out! I have since tried the pistachio cake and hazelnut cake — both are simply amazing. Do yourself a favor and try this out!

Pistachio cake. Almond cake. Paleo cookies. Three baked goods that live up to (…surpass.?) my grandmother’s standard of baking — nothing short of incredible. And all gluten free! The perfect mix of flavor and consistency — similar to a more European style of baking: showcasing simple, high quality ingredients to create for incredible desserts. I find this style so much better than the kind found at places like Extraordinary Desserts (which I find to be overkill with its more-​is-​more recipe philosophy.) Try everything you can get your hands on from Pavona Dolci — otherwise the person behind you in line will.

Couldn’t resist the almond cake at Grant’s, and it was TOTALLY worth it! Very surprised this was gluten-​free and Paleo. Great texture and flavor, I’ll be keeping an eye out for more desserts from them.

I tried the almond cake and bundt cake when I stopped over at Grant’s Market; it was super delicious, I couldn’t believe this was gluten free. I highly recommend Pavona Dolci to anyone looking for tasty desserts.

Best gluten free almond cake ever. It is moist, flavorful and great with tea or coffee.
