I had trouble with a return at the Mira Mesa store(it was an online purchase). The wonderful person at the Carmel Mountain store called corporate and helped me with the return. Friendly, attentive and going the extra mile for the customer. I will NEVER shop at Mira Mesa Payless again but will bring all my business to the Carmel Mountain Store. BTW, beware of using PayPal on the website. Even though the website states«Free Returns In Stores», if you use PayPal, the corporate policy is to only give store credit unless you mail back the return at your expense. Fortunately, the sales associate at the Carmel Mountain store was willing to look at the website, see that it was misleading, and take the extra time to call corporate and help straighten it out.

Dropped in to pick up some shoe orders that had been shipped to the store. The gal there was attentive and sweet and brought the boxes out from the back. She offered to bag all the shoes, even though they were all boxed. I told her it wasn’t necessary; hubby was there to help carry stuff out ;) Great experience overall. I’ll be back to pick-up some more orders soon.

There’s a blonde woman that works here who is so rude. Even if she knows you’re at the register, she will take her sweet time to head towards you. She gave me a sarcastic attitude when I returned something and I asked which button to press on the machine. Another time, I asked for the device to measure my daughter’s feet, and she was acting like I was bothering her. It’s so obvious that she hates her job because she mumbles the things that she has to say(I.e. Asking me if I want to purchase the care kit for some boots I bought). There is also a younger Latina that works here that doesn’t want to be bothered either. She saw me struggling to get something from high up, and didn’t offer me any help. When I caught her eye and asked for help, she was not happy. The only reason why I came here a third time even after they’ve been rude to me on two different occasions is because I live close by. Three strikes though, so I will just go to North County mall where they are much nicer.

Helpful sales ladies. Found my boots in less than 5 min. They were also on sale!

I went in today to find a pair of shoes. I spoke with a salesperson whom I believe was named Missy. She double-checked the stock on hand and when she was unable to find the exact shoes I wanted, she gave me the option of trying one of four other local Payless locations. I told Missy that I needed the shoes right away, so she called the closest Payless location(10 minutes away) and confirmed that they had what I wanted in stock. Then she had the shoes held for me at that store. She even gave me a $ 4.00 off coupon to use upon arrival at the other store. Missy made it easy and I appreciate her extra effort. The second store was easy to find and had my shoes at the register ready to go. Good job guys! Thanks!

I will give 2 stars because the sales girl working there today was very attentive, given detailed explanation of what was on sale and what not, and was extremely nice without being too edulcorating. I like the customer service, but the quality has declined a lot. I used to go very often to get cheap sandals. Now i find them cheaper and cuter at the 10 dollar mall or at any Ross. The shoes look very cheap and are more expensive than in those stores mentioned. I did not find anything pretty, only colorful flipflops, that is it. It used to be a mine of gems to be discovered, and even i have shoes that lasted for years. Also, the smell of plastic is very intense when you enter in this store. Smells like a tire factory or something, one of those strong smells that gives you headache.

I give this place just a shrug of my shoulders. I went in there and was basically wrecking the place with my two little toddlers. I was looking for shoe sizes and talking out loud to my kids(who know nothing about locating shoe sizes) about what size I needed. A girl stocking shoes 10 inches from me either tuned me out, didn’t care, or was in some spaced out other world, because she didn’t offer to help me. I had to ask. No biggie. Then, Mommy wanted a new pair of shoes — and another employee, who I think was a manager, had shoe boxes piled on the stool where you can sit down on to try shoes, and watched me sit on the floor rather than move them aside. They were not rude or anything, just not very conscientious or attentive to customers obvious needs. The shoes we got were super cute, and the prices were reasonable.
