Ok. I thought I Unilocaled this place before. So here it goes. First of all their coffee is awesome. It is café virtuoso, it is. Local place that is very choosey who hey sell their coffee to. The breakfast sandwiches are awesome. Good amount of food. You could probably split one with your work partner. The pizza is good and there are not your standard pizzas. The panini s are great. I’m partial to the Caesar chicken salad. It is flicking good. They make the croutons from scratch. Sometimes they have a hint of bacon in them. Jennifer the chef is awesome. She is nice to talk to and if not busy running the show will chat it up. The kids that work there are nice. I wish I knew their names tho. So check it out. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Strong free WiFi & big screen TV that’s turned to Good Stuff ALLTHETIME!!! Cool Staff and decent food. A little pricey though, but apparently the money goes to help needy teens or something like that so I am all for it. Come here alot when the day calls for a Hot Chocolate! The chef actually asked for my opinion because I am too a chef and I approved the Chocolate so its there! Try it with whipped cream! Better than anything Starbuxxx sells. Clean and usable bathrooms that smell good and never dirty! Free local papers and flyers. You can buy the books and art right off the wall which I think is cool. Great place for meetings and camaraderie with regular people in San Diego. A must for an out-of-towner or tourist looking for a place to hang and get all the services they need in one place: Food, Internet, Bathroom, and a Warm Smile! Only thing is they do keep student hours from 7am to 2pm, Mon-Fri but hey SD is super nice and sunny, go to Balboa Park and get in a run!

I just came back from this place and my lunch sucked. I looked them up online before I went and walked a few more blocks than I usually do for lunch to get there. Online they had a great veggie sandwich on olive bread, but once you get there you find out they don’t use olive bread but they use squaw bread instead. This is very different but I decided to get it anyway. Once I got back to work I see that they made it into a panini, a bad burnt panini at that, when the menu had it listed under a cold sandwich. Plus there was no feta in it. The atmosphere is cute but the food was gross and not what is advertised.

What a wonderful concept! Young adults gain experience in the culinary field here. Homeless and at risk youth get an opportunity to learn culinary and serving skills here and they do a WONDERFUL job. I had a Asian salad and it was absolutely fantastic. There is free WiFi and lots of room to host large parties or meetings here The space is friendly and comfortable. Staff excellent!

I go here for lunch often when at work and have no complaints and lots of praise. Pierre’s and Simon’s on Sixth are the best sandwich/lunch stops in the area. I give Simon’s a 5 and Pierre’s a 4 because Pierre’s doesn’t offer a free cookie with each sandwich or an equivalent combo deal. But that aside, the food is great so I recommend it.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It’s similar to Panera, except it’s run like a mom-n-pop shop. The reason why I have mixed feelings is because it nearly took like 20 minutes or so to get my food. I was on a lunch break, so I was in a hurry. But, the girl working there was kind enough to offer some baked cookies to make up for the wait. Hey, it made me happy :) I ordered a piece of Chocolate Cake! It was ridiculously massive! It was so massive that the container they put it in wouldn’t close! It was rich, dark and yummy. I think it was similar to the chocolate cake from Costco. Their Chicken Chipotle Panini was pretty good too. I think it was like $ 7 bucks for the panini and bag of chips. Other than the long wait, this is a pretty cute joint. Plus, they hire people who are in need! I noticed they posted a news article near the cash register about a homeless girl. Well, that homeless girl now works at Pierre’s and I guess she also go to sing at a Padres game! Pretty cool.

This café helps homeless teenagers get a college education. They have the teenagers work for scholarships. The food is great and I hope they will start having pizza again. Highly recommend this place and their manager is awesome.

A few blocks north of the House of Blues lies a place staffed by kids whose life stories would fit right in. Proceeds from this well-patronized café benefit St. Vincent de Paul’s Toussaint Academy of Arts and Sciences, which helps homeless youth get a high school education without the worries of living on the streets. All this for the price of a lunch. I tried their lunch special, which comes with two slices of pizza and a drink for less than $ 7 with tax, and a $ 3 small gelato. While they weren’t the best slices of New York-style pizza I’ve ever had, they hit the spot. The margherita was especially satisfying. Their coffee is from Caffe Calabria in North Park; their gelato reminded me of that from Gelato Vero, but I’m not sure where it’s from. Worth stopping in if you’re in the area.

I LOVETHISPLACE!!! *Best pizza ever* *Great coffee & specialty drinks* *Cute, artsy atmosphere* *WiFi* *Yummy baked goods* *Excellent panninis & soup* *Generally quick service* *Friendly staff* *Always parking available(metered)* I’ve been going to Pierre’s for 2 years now and the only time I’ve ever been let down is when I am dying for their pizza and they are CLOSED! Sometimes they’ve been closed even though it’s advertised that they are open, and I’ve already paid the parking meter, which sucks, but I forgive easily because of my devotion to them. I am very picky about pizza but they have the best I’ve had in San Diego. It’s really thin how I like it, always variety… just go try it okay!!! I’ve often been there when they are closing(I wish they would stay open late) and if they have extra food, they’ve given it to me for free :-) FYI: Don’t hit on the staff, 95% of them are students under the age of 18 or kids staying at Toussants Academy. Oops. ;-)

Great New York style pizza. Delicious sandwiches. You have the option of ordering a side salad – yay for healthy choices! Plus you will feel good patronizing this place. I haven’t had any of their desserts or baked goods, but they look so pretty and scrumptious behind the glass case. I go here for lunch when meeting colleagues in the area. Plenty of tables for lunching, plus a lounge-ish area for studying if you are so inclined. And a community board for posting fliers promoting your band/yoga practice/study group/tantric circle/whatever.

I like this place more and more. I had been going there for a while, but continue to find new items and better service. Not only do the proceeds go to the Toussant Teen Center, but they also hire the teens so they can get work experience. My two newest favorite items are the tomato basil soup and the loaded baked potato soup. They are pretty hearty, and good for a cool day. I also tried the pizza for the first time. The pizza was spicey with jalepenos… delicous. I still find prices a bit high… always around $ 10 for a sandwich or salad and a drink, which is a bit high for a workday lunch on the go.

I go to school in downtown and I had been searching for a yummy lunch place. Pierre’s has awesome paninis, pizza, gelato, and coffee. My favorite is the tuscan chicken panini – chicken, pesto, roasted red pepper, and cheese grilled up all nice and melty. A sandwich(comes w/fruit or salad) comes to about $ 7.50. So it can get a little pricey eating lunch here everyday! But the money goes to a good cause, so I don’t mind. I usually come by around 2pm and it’s dead. But between 12 and 1pm, it can get really crowded. They also have free wifi which is great!

Good eats and friendly service. The café’s proceeds go to the Toussaint Teen Center(right above it), so if that doesn’t encourage you to go, perhaps yummy pizza, delicious paninis and freshly-warmed chocolate chip cookies will? Did you hear me? I said FRESHLYWARMEDCHOCOLATECHIPCOOKIES!!! That’s what I thought.

I’ve walked past this place about a thousand times but had never gone inside. Not only does the building blend into the scenery, but when I finally did notice it, I was reminded of the Scientology building a few blocks over. I have nothing against worshiping ancient Aliens that spring from the ground, but if I have a choice, that’s not who I want buttering the bread on my grilled cheese. The inside of the place is spacious and I think that having big fluffy chairs and couches to sit on is a nice touch. It’s comfortable, plus if you grew up only being allowed to eat at the table, it can be a real rush to sit on a couch and eat food. Why do I suddenly feel like I’ve led a sheltered life? As far as the food goes, what really sets this place apart from the rest are their Wraps. Honestly, I’ve tried so many crap wraps in my life that I was«this close» to giving up on the entire genre of this food altogether. Pierre’s took me in, sat me down, and set me straight. I don’t know if it’s the ingredients, the tortillas, or maybe the couch, but those wraps are good times. I’ve had the Chicken Caesar and the Greek Salad wraps so far. I’ve also tried the Caprese Panini and it was okay, but nothing that anyone is going to sing songs about. Apparently the proceeds of the restaurant go to the Teen Center next door, so you can get your good deed for the day and your lunch knocked out in the same visit.

I wouldn’t even have known to come in if I hadn’t glimpsed past the door; the windows LOOK like tinted windows; I thought it was just another building at first. But I was so, so glad that I did! The staff is incredibly friendly and will tell you they’re genuinely happy to be there. The tea is delicious, and so is the gelato. But the shining detail is the overstuffed chairs and sofa. I could’ve easily fallen asleep after my meal had I not forced myself to brave the trek to the counter for espresso & peanut butter gelato. It’s just so peaceful, clean, and cheerful in here. The bathrooms smell good; things practically sparkle, and not in any artificial way. I feel like I’m staying at a good friend’s home here. It takes over an hour to walk from my apartment, but I certainly plan to return numerous times in the future.

If you love San Diego, you’ll love this place that loves San Diegans, literally. Pierre’s Place is owned and run by St. Vincent De Paul, a local San Diego charity. All the proceeds go to help teens trying to get their life together. I think it also trains San Diegans to have a career in the restaurant industry. All this and the food is great too! Great Pizza, Gelato, Panini’s, and of course coffee! I stopped by on a Tuesday night when there was a discussion group led by a Neuro-scientist who does research at the Neuroscience Institute in La Jolla, yet has these intense discussions on things like apologetics. There are also concerts there randomly. All in all its a great place to hang out and feel good about where you’re money is going. Open from 7am to 9pm everyday.

Great place to go to grab lunch downtown. It’s next to the Toussaint Center, and it’s a great, clean, café atmosphere. Great wraps, salads, sandwiches, soups, cakes, panini, gelato and pizza by the slice. and great prices too. Bored with lunch? check out Pierre’s and you won’t be disappointed.
