Nom nom nom, tastebuds awaited this all week. Very easy going brewery. Went there on a friday at 3pm to get the day started. Will go again to try the remaining drinks.

I don’t normally leave reviews for breweries but I feel obliged for this one. Spent about an hour here chatting with the staff and customers. Comfortable location and extremely friendly staff, the idea is fantastic and the beers are very good. I think with a few minor tweaks to their recipes this will definitely take off. The beers were impressive for a brewery that’s been open for a little over a week, namely Evangeline once it came up a little in temperature and you could really experience the tartness that you would expect from a Gose. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the San Diego area and I look forward to seeing them grow.

This brewery is awesome! The beer was amazing! It’s super unique and you can taste the quality ingredients that they use. They use mostly organic ingredients and do NOT use extracts, very fresh.

Very excited that Pure Project is making some very legit beer even on their first day in business. Inspired tap list with some novel looking recipes. We tried 12 beers on tap, and all were good with some that were outstanding. The Grass-Fed IPA was the most impressive, easily A+ level IPA that is better than almost anything produced in California. Certainly hitting at that top tier Sante Adairius level for light-bodied IPA. Excited to see what they can do with saison. Maybe they can join the ranks of Monkish to be the only other Southern California brewery that can make saison. Beautiful tasting room, great design and themes. Friendly staff. Beers were poured correctly and served in correct glassware at correct temperatures. With flavors this good on Day 1, clearly they have already mastered their brewing system. Something that even veteran brewers at Pizza Port, AleSmith, Ballast Point, Stone, and Bagby clearly continue to struggle with even after years of practice. Someone here is a savant.

Everything tastes clean, crisp, balanced, dry with good mouth feel. The session Belgian was unique and non typical. The rye pale ale was deceivingly good, not what you expect for a rye in either taste or aroma(my wife liked it even more than Alpine, which I thought was a tall order but I’ll give that to her because it was quite good). The grain fed IPA had a great aroma, and the pale ale was superb, but I already said that. You get the feeling that they are using quality ingredients. Looking forward to returning.

Beers are all really good and they have a nice variety! Only downside is the place is a little small. All in all it was a nice change.

Beer is awesome, people are awesome. Forewarning that maps currently make it slightly complicated to find, and may bring you around the back but they’re working on it. Expected to like the blonde, ending up ordering the Romeo & Julius in a full pour. The Evangeline was also great. Looking forward to what comes out of here.

A friend of mine recommended this spot to me, told me I HAD to try the Romeo & Julius. All I can say is WOW. You can taste the fresh oranges, it’s delicious. I ordered a pint along with a taster of the Grass Fed IPA. Both were exceptional. Cool music, friendly staff, and zen-like décor. Definitely plan to come back with friends, perfect spot to hang out after work.

Came here on their first Monday open on the recommendation of a friend. The décor is cute, clean, and I loved their little wooden bar coasters. The staff was both super friendly and knowledgeable. On top of the décor and the staff, the beer is phenomenal. Every single beer I tried was on point, even if I’m not usually a fan of the style. The rye pale was incredibly drinkable and the hibiscus saison was both well balanced and just a beautiful pour(pale pink in the glass). My personal favorite, oddly, was their blonde. Normally I think blondes are overly light and flavorless, but their ginger and citrus blonde was delicious and thirst quenching. Overall, highly recommend checking this place out. By far my favorite new spot in the area and I’ll be coming back frequently.

So many breweries in the San Diego area, so little time. But I did make two visits here over their opening on Saturday. Not only are the beers spot on and made with quality ingredients(IPA and double IPA were my favorites), but the owners Jesse, Agi, and Matt were the nicest people ever!

I checked out Pure Project last night after reading some good press by a few reviewers. There are a few startup breweries in Miramar, but Pure Project has presented itself as a cut above. Let’s start with what every tasting room review should start with — the beer. Pure Project offers a great variety of beers, rather than solely the IPA-centric approach that seems to have taken root in San Diego. Don’t get me wrong — Pure Project also has solid IPAs, but there’s a concerted effort by Pure Project to demonstrate versatility. My favorite of their beers was the Milagro, which is a Coffee Stout with vanilla, on nitro. This beer has an excellent nose, presenting a healthy dose of dark coffee flavor, balanced out by chocolate and vanilla. The team at Pure Project took pride in sourcing the coffee from Costa Rica, from where their beer roots stem. Another beer to check out is the Romeo and Julius, a cream ale with orange and vanilla, using Valencia oranges and vanilla from Madagascar. This is a light bodied, eminently drinkable cream ale, which is refreshing and smooth, Next up for me was their Midnight in Moscow, a Russian Imperial Porter, and the Valle Pura Vida. The Valle Pura Vida was a nice spin on a blonde ale, using ginger in just the right portion, but not nearly enough to overwhelm you. The Midnight in Moscow was luscious, giving another good coffee flavor, with a fuller body and a complex malt profile. The takeaway on the beer is that all of it is very easy to drink — each beer has its flavors so well executed, and is smooth. The flavors strongly reflect Pure Project’s dedication to creative worldly sourcing. Finally, the atmosphere — I enjoyed the laid back tasting room, which shows videos of nature(think Planet Earth or Discovery Channel), and is designed to mimic Costa Rica. Pure Project also curated a nice offering of flavored popcorn, and offers decent snacks as well. It looks like the team will bring in some great food trucks on a consistent basis. The team at Pure Project was very friendly, and loved talking about their beer. I’m looking forward to trying more from Pure Project!

Not all breweries are created equally. Pure Project proves that. Toss a rock and you’ll hit a place with good beer in San Diego, but Pure Project differentiates itself with the ingredients that go into the beers. There’s a lot of buzz about locally sourced ingredients and Pure Project does source many ingredients here locally. But some of the best beer ingredients come from outside San Diego. For example, the coffee beans they use in their Milagro dry stout are sources from Costa Rica. Why? Because coffee beans from Costa Rica are better tasting than any coffee grown in San Diego. But we all know going to a brewery is about more than just the beer. How many times have you went to a brewery and it looks like they just hooked a few tap handles to some kegs that were sitting around and called it a tap room? Pure is the complete opposite of that. Everything that makes their beer special is also reflected in the décor and ambiance of their tasting room. I have to say, of the 60+ breweries I’ve visited, Pure has the nicest bathroom of them all. Now we don’t pick our favorite breweries based on their bathrooms, but it’s what that attention to detail says about their operation that should impress you. I also like the styles of beer their brewing. Like most San Diegans, I’m a true hop head. Pure Project’s IPAs are different in that they have agave or Brett yeast. They also have some under-brewed style like gose and a Belgian quad. It’s the subtle differences you come to appreciate after visiting a lot of breweries. Go to Pure Project. Have a handful of tasters and several pints. Enjoy the food truck fare they usually have. Share fun stories with your friends. Then tell everyone who didn’t go to Pure about all the fun they missed.

This place sets the bar high for other breweries. Yeah, people may say oh another sd brewery but these guys do it the way we wish all the other ones did. Great atmosphere, naturally sourced ingredients and great beer to boot.
