I never realized how good this Ralph’s was until I went to Vons on the same week. They recently did a renovation and it’s really nice. They now have better flooring, more local produce, a Starbucks, salad bar, variety of cheese, olive bar and so much more hot foods then Vons(the Vons on Washington in mission hills). The hot food area: I love this area, I come here for lunch and buy a rotisserie chicken or their baked chicken and eat it for several days. They also have other items such as fried chicken, prime rib, boars head sandwiches, sushi and so much more. It’s superior to Vons. I noticed it was superior when I went to Vons during dinner time and they had nothing but 2 chicken thighs… Ralph’s, if you come around 11:30, you can get all the good stuff and it’s nice and fresh. Their produce is also cheaper then Vons and have more variety. I buy a lot of broccoli and it’s $ 1 cheaper here! There’s just so much options on fruits, vegetables and everything. I really like this Ralph’s, was very spoiled and didn’t realized it until I went to Vons.

Was just harassed by Sylvia in the deli. When she sees this she will know how she treated my boyfriend and I maybe she doesn’t like gay couples. We asked her for some prosciutto and that we needed a half pound and obviously it would need to be sliced thin since it was prosciutto. After bitching under her breath and ignoring us for sometime she proceeded to slice the prosciutto we asked for a half pound and without giving us a sample slice she just gnawed away at the prosciutto and the slicer aggressively. When she was finished it weighed .65 pounds and the slices were so thick I wouldn’t be able to chew through it with my own teeth because it was prosciutto. I told her it was too thick and that she would have to redo it and it would definitely have to be way thinner for it to be edible. She flipped out and under her breath said she was going to take care of it passive aggressively. She ripped the packet of meat out of my hand and left me hanging with a full thick bloody slice of prosciutto in my bare hand with nowhere to put it while she turned her back on me. I proceeded to tell her I wasn’t interested and I did flip out on her because she was so disrespectful to my boyfriend and myself that I told her she was a bitch. I probably shouldn’t have flipped out on her but either way I have been coming to this Ralph’s for over 12 years I am a neighbor who lives two blocks away and they really need to learn to be a little more considerate and respectful to their clientele. Unfortunately I don’t really have a choice other than Jimbos and Albertson’s downtown but because of the convenience I am so close to Ralph’s I still have to shop here. Throughout the years I have been harassed by different employees including security guards and other managers when confrontations have come up with disgruntled employees. It’s no secret that their deli and bakery department staff is extremely angry at something and very undetermined to work and please anyone. Their attitude explains it all. Please visit this deli and or bakery and then decide to post another review you will see what I am talking about. I forgot to mention this does not apply to Claudia who makes my sandwiches. She’s the nicest best happiest employee at Ralph’s and in my professional service industry opinion should be the liaison for disgruntled labor union Ralph’s employees and the abused customers. CLAUDIAISANEXAMPLEFORALLOTHEREMPLOYEESPERIOD. Forget labor unions, honestly who needs this anymore. These employees are protected and treat the customers like horse poop. The only time I seem to get the best service here is when the labor union is on strike and the properly paid(for the job) independent employees are hired. The independent employees smile and are happy bc they are truly grateful to have these jobs. I hate disgruntled labor union employees. So ungrateful! GOAWAYLABORUNIONS!

I come here often. Sometimes when I forget there’s an office potluck I hit up the deli/sandwich meat area in Ralph’s. First off with the sandwiches. They use all Boar’s Heat products. From meat, bacon and spreads. You’re getting great quality meat I got a roast beef sandwich $ 6.99. double meat for only $ 1 extra. Fabulous deal. You also have the value of a supermarket and they have a wide variety of chips or other sides to accompany your sandwich. Next is their salad section. myriad amount of choices to your liking. I forgot I had a potluck one day and went here. I got a couple trays of their pear kale cranberry salad. It was a hit. Today’s meal I got the three item combo. Their freshly cooked tri tip roast and two sides. I got their green bean casserole and corn. Also came with a complimentary canned soda and a dinner roll. All for $ 6.99. That’s a great deal downtown. Expect to pay $ 10-$ 12 for the amount of protein and portion at any other place down here.

This Ralph’s locate is super nice. There is plenty of underground parking(thank goodness because this location is in downtown San Diego). The store is always busy and well stocked. On this day we stopped by to pick up our lunch. The«Ready to Go» food section has many options. Hot soups, I chose the Clam Chowder it was very good but could have used more clams. Fried Chicken, I chose the hot wings they were mild and tasty. Plenty of side dishes such as onion rings, potato wedges, Mac & cheese, potato salad and baked beans. They also have a full salad and olive bar. Or you could have pizza, Tri-tip, baked ham and more. It a great place to stop for lunch or dinner when you are short on time or don’t want to cook. They offer several«meal deals» for both lunch and dinner. My lunch meal deal cost $ 6.99: I received 6 hot wings, two sides(potato salad and onion rings) a dinner roll and a medium drink. The Clam Chowder soup was extra. In addition to the«Ready to Go» food it is a full super market. Overall, the customer service was efficient and friendly. However, the women at the«Ready to Go» food section seemed to be annoyed with me and my husband because she spoke the specials so fast and low we couldn’t understand what was included in the meal deals. Needless to say she had to repeat it a couple of times and that seemed to annoy her
