It’s difficult to find a good hookah lounge that really knows what they’re doing… this place is it! Good quality shisha and a comfortable (yet classy) atmosphere, if only I lived closer I would be there everyday

Came here to hang out with my girlfriend and my cousin for the first time and just amazing place here. AJ made us felt welcomed and the environment here is on point. Would definitely recommend coming here to hangout and smoke some hookah. Thank you AJ.

I went here after having a couple brewskis and let me tell you, I was not disappointed! The staff was beyond friendly, the hookah tastes bomb, and the environment was all sexy.

5 stars based on the following:
1. Coals
This place gives you proper coconut coals that don’t ruin the taste of your shisha, unlike a lot of so called hookah bars that give you self lighting coals… and unlike Fumari, this place doesn’t limit your smoking session to a fixed number of coals.
2. Great shishas.
The tobacco is all quality starbuzz and Al fakher, with some quality mixes on the menu. (The dubai express is a personal favourite)
3. Cost
For the quality of the shisha and hookahs (khalil mamoon for those that care), the price of the hookahs are very reasonable
4. Location
Right in the heart of PB. Have a hookah before going out for drinks… and then after :)
5. Service
The guys that run the place are often there and will come and shake your hand and make you feel welcome.

I have been out of San Diego for couple of months and I missing this place big time… Can’t wait to go back … Rose vanilla and double apple are the best … well for me all the flavors they have are awesome

Chai latte.. I’m not a tea expert but this is the best Chai latte I’ve tasted yet. It’s the right amount of sweet, spices and mocha taate. I think the tea might bring me back alone. The décor is cute and it’s a Friday night and they’re playing old school hip hop. Like old Nas and Common type of vibe. I would come back. The service is pretty good and I’m glad the server reassured my decision to order the tea.

Visiting SD and found this place on Unilocal.Awesome service — the two people working checked on me frequently and the hookah was great. House mix european splash was nice and smooth and you can’t beat the happy hour deal!

Great staff, music, flavors. happy hr every day 5 – 9 hookahs start at $ 13 refills start at $ 6. Can bring your own food as long as you clean it up after.

We guys ordered melon mist and added orange juice instead of water and cost us around $ 17 you can upgrade it in number of ways they have lot’s of option. Hookah that we ordered lasted for more than an hour, had its flavor.
Staff is really friendly!

The Red Velvet Hookah Lounge has such a great atmosphere and great service. they have a large variety of flavors, and use great, high quality hookahs. The happy hour special gives you $ 7 off so you can split a 13 dollar hookah with a friend and spend as long as your hookah lasts chatting and enjoying the comfy pillows and dark lighting.

Only thing you need to know… go here, not Sinbads. If you’ve been to both, you know what I’m saying.

The hookah is really cheap here (5– 9 pm it’s happy hour! $ 13 for a single hose hookah).
It’s decorated with red curtains, couple tapestries, etc. It’s really relaxing. As for the customer service.
I guess they fired all the ones from the bad reviews? Because the last four times I’ve been here, the customer service was great! They go around and ask how everything is, change your coals, etc.
The hookah flavor isn’t that rich, but it’s nice. I really like their new Geisha flavor (kinda fruity, minty, and a little floral for some reason). One hookah lasts about 30 – 45 minutes for two people. Which is pretty short, but hey it was $ 13.00.
Just don’t come with a big group, you’re going to kill several hookahs so fast. I do think that it’d be a nice place to come with a date, chill for a bit, then walk to «the strip» of PB (it’s really not that far).
And if you feel a little dizzy, there’s a Starbucks close by to make you dizzier.

I love this place.
When I lived in PB I hit the Red Velvet Hookah Lounge every other weekend. The two owners/​managers are extremely welcoming and caring about your experience. It is a little small and easily crowded on a busy weekend night, but it’s very cozy and «chill».
Definitely make sure you get there early for the happy hour price, it’s a great deal!
I’ve been to many hookah lounges before and haven’t had a better made hookah than I have here. They recently improved their menu and added some new flavors, so that’s a big plus too.
I only wish I still lived in CA so I could go back again!

I have been here so many times. I’m a customer since 2012.
Last three times I came in the happy hour which is from 5 to 9 pm, before they ask you they will tell you it’s $ 7 off. Whatever, last three times I came with a group in the happy hour and every single one ordered hookah and drinks which is not common in this place. However, the person who served us suddenly disappeared, then they charged us the regular price!
I told them we came in the happy hour, but they said it’s written that you guys came after happy hour. So, I paid what ever they want, cuz I don’t like to argue.
I don’t care about money, but I don’t like when anyone goes around just to steal me. Just tell me I want more money I would definitely give you.
However, their service isn’t bad, but not great either.
Their hookah; best one is double apple. First 15 minutes is great then the taste goes bad and it’s harsh. However, sometimes they fix it then it lasts for another 20 minutes.

My friends and I are the most fun group of friends in all of California… obvi. Okay, Occasionally we can’t find something to do and, of course, by occasionally I mean a lot. In these moments of creative weekness, we can always rely on the very comfortable, clean, and welcoming Red Velvet.
One friend, Ryan, who coincidentally prides himself in finding the best hookah spots for us to lounge in, swears that this place has the strongest hookah. It has become one of his favorites and now mine.
One night, when we were completely sober I think, we stumbled gracefully into our self designated corner and were greeted by AJ. He is the owner and a good one at that. He remembered us and called us by name. This meant a lot to us. It always feels good to have a business remember who you are. This particular night we were «starving.» AJ allowed us to bring an entire pizza in from Hoboken, which is right next door, with the one stipulation that we clean up after ourselves. We were so happy. And yes, we did clean up.
It is located in Pacific Beach, on Garnet, food and bars nearby, and minutes from the beach. Amazing.

If price is an issue for you; go buy a hookah, some tobacco, charcoal and aluminum foil and sit at home and smoke away sitting on the comfort of your own couch watching ESPN or BravoTV. The whole idea behind going to a lounge is to enjoy the company and the atmosphere. The success behind Red Velvet is solely due to the hard work the owners have put in to making sure the environment is always fun, and lively.
The hookah lounge isn’t really in the heart of the bar scene, so the number of IIE «interesting intoxicated encounters» is minimal.
I started as one of their first customers (a week after they opened I think), and became a part of the family. I’m fortunate to have had the opportunity to see Red Velvet grow over the years and stay true to their vision.

I love Red Velvet cake so I thought it was perfect to go and try this place with one of my friends. Walked in, and was surprised that it was such a small place and was absolutely packed. Everybody stared at you when you walked in, of course I thought it was out of curiosity so I didn’t mind.
We stood there for 10 minutes, and finally a waitress told us that we can sit anywhere. Thanks, would’ve been nice to know when you walked passed us the first time and not the sixth time.
We sat down, and realized that it was completely overpriced. We also saw that we were seated really close with other customers which I didn’t mind until I realize that they looked at us like they’ve never seen Asians before.
We waited for another 15 minutes with no eye contact from the waitress. Then finally, someone comes and asks us, «Are you guys ready?». I told her politely that this was our first time here and she looked at us and said «ok.» I was waiting for her to tell us about the specials, maybe even tell us some flavors to try, nothing, she just stared at us blankly. It was awkward. I felt the whole room just kinda looked at us and was probably thinking «noobs» or something.
She left us once she rolled her eyes when I said, «Well can we have a minute please?». You must hate your job but that doesn’t mean you gotta be a B**** to new customers.
I looked at my friend, said «Let’s just go» and we got up and started towards the door. Our waitress gave me a look again and screamed out «BYE! COME BACK NOW HA.» with a super evil smile on her face. I don’t know what I did to her but she sure knows how to treat her customers right.
Will never go again.
