Great club. I liked the music. Friendly staff. Had a nice time. Good prices on the drinks.

I can’t believed I paid a cover charge 14 $ the place was pretty small and got yelled at for flushing my friends toilet after he used it. Then she squeegeed the toilet water on my feet. I’m sorry but I’m staying at WEHO in LA or at least fiesta cantina you can never go wrong.

This must be one of the only gay bar/club in San Diego. I’m not saying I didn’t have a good time, but DAMN… I paid $ 14 to get in the door. You’d think it was Halloween or New Year’s Eve. I’m sure it will cost an arm and a leg during pride celebrations. The good thing is that they accept debit and credit cards. It’s a fairly big club, with 2 bars. Looks like they have a private party and bottle service area as well. The dance floor is quite large. They also have many gogo dudes. You can have your photo taken as you walk in. There’s a photobooth, which I think is a great addition to the experience. The music is very loud. You’ll see all the bartenders wearing earplugs. No idea how they can take drink orders but they manage. I had trouble hearing after the first night of going there. As fun as the gay clubs can be at times, this place definitely has more old men with their shirts off than I’ve seen in other cities. All that old, shiny muscles… who doesn’t want to see them sweating it up on the dance floor. Not trashy at all :-)

I went to SD on my 5 day vacation, and we ended up at Rich’s for the night after hopping a few places. This place was so much fun, I danced my little tail off, HOT guys(eye candy), friendly stafff, yummy drinks. amazing lighting DJ was phenomenal. I have not danced this much and had this kind of good time in a very long time. Thank you Rich’s for great times and great memories… xoxoxo and most importantly no skeezy people macking on you, just very friendly people that could keep up a friendly small talk on the patio.

Whether I’m visiting Rich’s to start my night or finish up a Welfare Wednesday, one things for sure, this my favorite spot to go to! Love the drinks, the Gogo dancers, the music, the entertainment. Everything. I’d strongly recommend this as a go-to for any out-of-towners/visitors who want to know where the best gay bars are in San Diego.

I’ve been to Rich’s 2 times and both times I had a similar experience, which made me feel aware enough to write a review about it. I see some reviews complaining about the crowd, but I don’t really get what the problem is, it’s just like any other crowd. Your not gonna like everybody that’s there and not everybody is gonna be into you! Get over it. You are there with your friends, just have a good time amongst yourselves! It’s really not that hard. Personally I enjoy the music because I like to know the songs I’m dancing to and they play a lot of popular songs. The drinks are fine, what you would expect of a place like this. I enjoy the variety of people that go there. I haven’t noticed any bad qualms about the bartenders except for having to wave them down now and again. It’s fine if they are busy, but that shouldn’t be the case when they’re not helping other customers. The go-go dancers are very good looking, but could smile at bit more and make it seem like they’re having a good time! I don’t really get why there’s a cover charge, given how most places in Hillcrest don’t really have this. Just trying to make extra money I guess, and given by the popularity it seems to be working! Overall, it’s a very decent place with good music and okay drinks! The fun should be in the friends you bring and just make it a good night amongst yourselves!

I’ve been here a handful of times and decided I should review it. To be honest though the crowds aren’t really that bad, rich’s is a good size club so there’s generally enough room to actually walk around. Obviously the dance floor gets pretty crowded still, there’s usually not too long a wait for the bathrooms. The drinks are expensive, but what do you expect. The bartenders could give better customer service… I mean sure they’re good looking but I think half of being a bartender is being personable with the customers. I have mixed feelings about the music that is played… I don’t understand why 95% of the time the only style of EDM that is played is hardstyle, nearly every time it’s the same thing. They should do like 80’s pop night or something? Or mix things up. The only variation of nights is… different dj’s or some form of animal night. To be honest the hip hop section isn’t much better… people are mostly on that side to just hang out anyway because the edm section is too loud to actual have a conversation.

Came to Rich’s for the 1st time this Weekend and I had a blast. Awesome musics, crowds and cool bar tenders. I had so much fun, I went back Saturday night. However, I must say Friday was a better night. Definitely will be back every time I visit San Diego. The only tough part is Parking, pretty challenging to find one. But it’s worth the hassle cause it’s so fun :). Crowds: 5⁄5 Musics: 5⁄5 Price: 5⁄5 Bar tenders: 5⁄5

Crowded. Loud. Busy. So many people here. But the dancing is fun. If you don’t mind a few drinks spilled on ya.

I feel like 3 stars is too little but 4 stars is to much lol I’m not going to lie I come to this place pretty often but I hate coming here on weekends! It gets really crowded so you can’t even dance because people are bumping into you every five seconds. LITERALLY! I’m lesbian so I enjoy coming here in Thursday’s for LEZ night. It doesn’t get to crowded so it’s perfect and there’s a lot of lesbians which thats a good thing lol. On weekends it’s mostly gay guys which I don’t have a problem with that either but me and my girlfriend want to meet more lesbian girls. Overall the place is nice but I wouldn’t recommend going on a weekend. Ohh and I forgot toe motion that on weekends the line to the bathroom is insane! And the bathrooms are always dirty because of the fact that guys can go into the girls bathrooms too and they leave the seat all peed on!

Shady(and rude) bartender’s… A couple of weeks ago, I went here with a friend because she loves this place; don’t ask me why! Anyway, I ordered a drink and got the feeling the bartender(Tom) was up to no good so I took a picture of my receipt and checked my account when I got home… THISFOOLCHARGEDMEFOURTIMESFORONEDRINK! The next day, I immediately reported fraud to Wells Fargo so we’ll see how this pans out for Tom… Moral of the story: Keep track of what you’re spending or some of the Rich’s bartenders will try to rip you off.

Cover was a little expensive but I liked it. There are two rooms, hip hop & dance. Both play great music. It gets a bit cramped if you’re trying to dance but overall a fun place for gay or straight!

Gone are the days of having an upscale club offering ala Universal/Eden/etc. Yes we have a couple classy bars in the Gayborhood(Uptown Tavern and Martinis), but if you want to dance, you have to get down and dirty. And sometimes that’s all you need. Throwing on a tank top, some sort of pants/shorts and shoes(or just hit up foam night in your underwear) can be liberating after going to straight clubs with strict dress codes. The music is usually much better as well, with a hip hop room in the front and an EDM room in the back. Large tripped out LEDs line some of the walls while a machine blasts out a thick layer of smoke blanketing the entire room. Speaking of the smoke, they must have the strongest smoke machine on the planet. I’m talking full-on horror movie smoke. Occasionally when I’m on the dance floor and have unknowingly gotten too close to it, I find myself choking and gasping for dear life. Can you guys turn it down a little? Just a smidgen? And then there’s the sidewalk sale at the end of the night, when the lights come on and you see what you’ve been dealing with for the past few hours. It’s never pretty. Besides staring at the tragedies of tweaked out messes you also discover how old and grimy this place truly is. Rich’s should really get gutted and completely renovated. For a fancy night out, you’ll need to hit up one of the local bars or make a trip to WEHO. But just like that one ex you can’t seem to shake off, Rich’s will always be here for you when you need it, ready and waiting. Grimy and disgusting and perfect just the way it is.

Definitely my least favorite oft he hillcrest bar scene. It’s always the most expensive, the most crowded, the worst crowd, and there’s always a cover when it’s an option. This place tries to be that signature over the top bar with themed parties but really falls flat with the outrageous prices and overall bad atmosphere. The bathrooms here are pretty gross as well as the drinks. I’m just not a fan of this place. When drinking in hillcrest(as a straight man) I’m in it for the cheap drinks, and this place is more in line with the downtown prices.

Everytime I’ve been to Rich’s, one exciting thing always occur. This time, it was watching a straight friend get hit on in an uncomfortable manner. Besides that, Rich’s is a great place to get your dancing on. It is split up into two different spaces. The front of the house is hip hop/Top 40 while the back stage plays more EDM/house music. This is great for groups as it can cater to both. My group and I arrived at 10:30pm and was met with a pretty empty Rich. Something that we were not used to… but we played it off as it being Valentine’s Day. Making the the $ 12 dollar cover worth it, we got to dancing on an empty floor. By 11 pm, Rich’s got crowded and the real fun began! We mainly stayed at the front of the house. The DJ was playing a nice blend of 90s R&B/hip hop earlier in the evening. As the placed filled with patrons, music slowly diverged to TOP40. By the time we left, there was a huge line outside. I can’t say anything about the bartenders in the back. But the bartenders out front were quick and topped off our shot glasses! It made me feel like I was getting my money worth! As others have stated, it is what it is. I would only recommend this place for those looking to dance and not having to deal with a dress code!

I’ve given this place more than enough chances to change my mind after that first lukewarm impression it gave me. The music is hit or miss, ranging from generic house music to new and upcoming powerhouse artists, in the back room. The front room has much better music, though its smaller dancing area gets crowded entirely too quickly. The drinks are severely lacking, as they rarely taste as if they have alcohol in them at all, and the pricing for these drinks is ridiculous when you consider other bars have drinks that pack more of a punch for much less of a cost. Couple this with the bartenders lack of basic mixed drink knowledge, and I wonder why anyone decides to buy drinks here, at all. The worst part of all, though, is that the back room smells like there is a sewage leak. No joke, it smells as if the cesspool has been over-encumbered for the past 5 years and the owner is too cheap to fix it. All in all, I would not recommend going to this place, ever.

During my SD escapades sometime a while back, my group had decided to venture into Rich’s, located right in the Hillcrest District. Being as to how we was all in a party mood, we decided, why not? They did have a cover charge when we arrived on a chilly Saturday night. I believe it was $ 10. The music was a mixture of Top 40, hip hop and electronica/trance. Both rooms were full and sweaty and steaming hot as well! I had that same vibe inside as I did whenever I go to The Abbey in WeHo! It was on and popping inside though. The crowd was jumping but to themselves. The bartenders were friendly there. Drink prices must’ve varied. I am not a mixed drinks/liquor kind of guy. I’m a beer dude! Since my beers were bought for me, I don’t know of their pricing. Located right in the vibrant yet busy Hillcrest District, there is much to see and venture throughout here. My experience here was okay overall. The group I went with made it fun. If I was to go with a fun group of friends, I probably wouldn’t oppose to going back!

I’ve been there twice this year and had a great time both visits. First visit was Sunday 11⁄2 for Stripper Circus. Smaller crowd than Fri or Sat but the folks there were ready to dance and party. Special performance by Manila Luzon(RuPaul Drag Race) Second visit was Saturday 12⁄6. Larger crowd especially in the front hip hop room. Both visits had quick service at the bars and great dance music in the main room. Unlike other gay dance clubs(such as those in Vegas) the music and production is definitely something they definitely take seriously.
