I am not a huge sushi fan but I do like it on occasion. This was the 1st time I had gotten food here and it was delicious. We got a variety of rolls and they were all great! They also made sure to give us a lot of soy sauce and wasabi. We will definitely be eating here again in the near future!

Just had lunch here and it was delicious! I got the spicy pork and chicken meal which was amazing. The meat was perfectly cooked and everything tasted very fresh. They are really generous with the portions and for a good price. Definitely coming back here again!

I’ve eaten here a handful of times and have tried a few different items. I don’t care for their chicken dishes but that’s just because I don’t really like chicken! The Bulgogi dish taste great and the steak hibachi is my favorite! The staff is always friendly and the area is always clean! I’ve never had a complaint! Will keep coming back here especially now that I live in the neighborhood :)!

I was expecting the type of Japanese place that grills a variety of ingredients, but this is more of an Asian fusion joint, with more Korean inspired dishes than Japanese. It’s cavernous with hard wooden bench-like tables, which makes it seem a bit un-cozy. Food wise, my lunch order was around $ 12, which I thought was a bit high(especially in a College area), but the portion size was quite large, and I took half home for another meal. Taste wise it was decent — but nothing too interesting.

Great food and great service! See photo for a better description. The vegetables have a ton of flavor and the meat is delicious as well. They have sauces to choose from too including spicy mayo and ginger dressings.

Cool little joint to kick it for a quick meal. Kimchi was purty spicy. Food was tasty. Nothing great or bad.

Tasty food and sauce on demand(love that). Had the bulgolgi and although it was good. It was a bit over cooked and chewy. Seasoning was on point though. 3.75 stars!

The food is fresh and selection is great. The ambiance is also very modern with a minimal look. The price is great for the amount of food you get.

I kept driving by and seeing the name. I thought it was kind of funny so I had to try it. Its like a fast food fusion restaurant featuring some of the greatest hits of Asian cuisine. The first time I tried it I thought it was just ok. I had the spicy chicken and pork combo and two egg rolls. It was mostly rice and not a whole lot of meat… not too impressed. Fortunately, the two egg rolls and sea weed salad were pretty good. This past Friday night, I decided to give them a second chance and Im very glad I did. I tried the Katsu Curry with brown rice and two egg rolls. This time it did not come with a salad for some reason. The flavor of the Curry was pretty good considering its from a fast food type place. Over all the meal was delicious. My only complaint(and its my fault for not reading the menu close enough) is that it came with planko chicken. Nothing wrong with it but Im hoping next time I can substitute it with grilled chicken. Im on the verge of really digging this place. Hopefully in a trip or two I can update this review with a better star rating.

This place has awesome food. It is almost as great as Benihana but for way less money. For anyone who likes Japanese grill food I would highly recommend this place. You can eat there or get it to go. The staff are friendly as well.

Get it together, Roboto. I know you are in a college area & you have college kids that don’t have much customer service or business sense working for you, buuuuuut… find someone that can crack the whip & manage the s*** out of this place. Let there be no more shrimp tails in the doorway, no sticky tables or stoner dudes not knowing anything about the menu. That’s all.

This place has huge portions. It has a hint of Korean and Japanese dishes. It’s nice because you can choose your meat dish and add it in a carb of your choice(white rice, brown rice, noodles and fried rice). Then you get a side to it too, vegetables salad or kimchi. For being so affordable, they give a pretty big proportion. I ate the mahi mahi over noodles and veggies. I LOVE noodles. And my husband also had noodles with spicy pork and chicken. It was a nice variety since the noodles and fish filled me up and the veggies added a refreshing side. Our group had an assortment which included the LA Kalbi, Panko pork, spicy chicken and pork and chicken hibachi. They also bring out your food which I thought was nice. But it still was a quick service so not exactly a fast food place but not exactly a sit down and spend a couple hours. A nice mix of both. This place is pretty good. I like how it’s located to a tea station. Definitely coming back.

I was in the area meeting someone and we both decided to have lunch at this newly opened restaurant a few months ago. Roboto Tokyo Grill is a quick & easy Japanese fast food restaurant located close to San Diego State University. You place your order with the cashier and they’ll call out your name/number when your food is ready. There are a variety of sauces you can choose and try out after you place your order: ginger, miso, terriyaki, yum yum, and spicy yum yum(wtf is yum yum sauce anyways). We ordered: STEAKHIBACHI — The steak cubes were cooked alright and the meat retained a decent tenderness. I thought the steak was a bit chewy but friend enjoyed this dish. The vegetables consisted of cabbage, broccoli, carrots and onion(I think) SPICYPORKHIBACHI — The spicy pork is marinaded in a spicy red pepper paste. The thinly sliced pork had a nice fat to meat ratio. CHICKENHIBACHI — Friend asked for brown rice which was served under the seared chicken breasts. I found the chicken to be dry but we both thought the side sauces helped rectify that a bit. The food took a while to come out but I figured it was the new staff figuring out the kitchen and timing. No harm in that as our dishes tasted alright and we weren’t in a great hurry to finish our meal. It’s a nice fast place to eat if you haven’t tried them out yet.

Food here is amazingly good. If I can give this place a 10 star I would. I have been here many times before but never gave a review. I will edit this once I’m done eating. I’m hungry. What! New menu! Sushi yeeeeee3e3es!

One word: eh, this place was just eh. The food quality was very similar to a typical chain fast food restaurant, which you typically wouldn’t expect or want from Japanese food. I saw some of the other reviews before going here but decided to give Roboto the benefit of the doubt because it opened up near my friends place and he had been wanting to try it. I got one of the curries with potatoes and onion and it was just okay. The fried rice was better and I added tofu which was probably the most surprising and best part of the dish: there were three Huge tofu steaks fried with panko atop the rice, not super flavorful but good when combined with one of the sauces or curry. My friend liked the meat in his dish a lot but thought the rest of it was just alright. I personally would not go back and would prefer to go to Panda Express instead if I want chain Asian food.

My boyfriend and I walked in for dinner around 7pm and the place was strangely quite. We went over to the counter and the worker was not enthused at all, along with the others. I told him it was our first time and asked what was popular. He went on explaining the menu but wasn’t very persuasive and interactive. Bummer because trying a new place, I was excited but the service was a mood killer. But anyway, there were 3 different sections to the menu — I think Korean, Japanese and Chinese. I decided on the Shrimp Himachi($ 8.50). I like that you’re able to choose the sides that ranges from brown/white/fried rice, noodles, and vegetables. My dish was pretty delicious. Grilled and marinated in a samurai sauce. I enjoyed it, especially along side the grilled vegetables and noodles. I would love to try other dishes on the menu! The food was great and I would give this place 4 stars for that, but service was not impressive.

3.5 but rounding down because it wasn’t all that special, but I do love the menu. I literally could eat every dish and enjoy it when I’m hungry. This place has potential but the plating is sloppy, and it reminds me of those mall food court places that offer you samples of teriyaki chicken. Those places are good right? But there is nothing special about it. I will definitely eat here when I’m in the area, I love rice, noodles, and meat lol. I tried the steak, it was decent, but was mostly rice and vegetables, then a small portion of meat. I got full because of the carbs and veggies, and it is only $ 8 – 9, so I wouldn’t say it’s a rip off or anything. The dining room is nice, open, and clean which is a plus. The menu is cool, and food is okay but nothing special. Again, this place has potential and I’ll continue eating here and hope they make some changes to make this place a cool and trendy place to eat.
