Had this place on a whim while out on the town with my 5 year old. I have to say I’m quite happy. I don’t believe in the«BEST Mexican place ever» saying but I like to have my favorite spots when I’m in certain areas… This place fits the bill and is now on «my list». Great ice cream just a few doors down as well.

Good Mexican food. The staff is unprofessional and they have the worst phone etiquette I’ve ever experienced, but I keep finding myself coming back for their carne asada fries, chicken burritos, breakfast burritos, and rolled tacos.

So its not the best Mexican food around, that goes to Zarape on Park(the Zarape on Adams sucks), but its open late and its pretty decent and they hooked up the salsas so I’m giving g it the old 4-star.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review of my favorite –bertos taco shop in San Diego. My usual order is a bean & rice burrito with the red salsa, or an order of the rolled tacos. Whether you’re looking for 2am post-bar food, comforting Mexican food when you’re home sick, or just an easy dinner in Normal Heights, you won’t find a tastier spot than Rolbertos. I recommend bringing cash, but they do take cards(I believe there’s a 50 cent surcharge). The wait is usually around 5 mins.

The perfect late night taco shop to hit up after pub crawling along Adams Ave. Pretty comparable to any other taco shop in San Diego(which means its pretty amazing), and definitely gets the job done after a hard night out. I think I’ve only been there under these circumstances, but I’m sure it’d hit the spot for a nice burrito if you’re feeling it. The one thing that’s a little different about them is they have like a million different combo meals. I’ve gotten a few of them in my day, and pretty much always been pleased. I’m sure I’ll be back!

This is one of the more pricy Taco Shops in town. But i’m ok with that. I might not get as much food for my dollar as most other Taco Shops a mile away, but the cooks here get everything right. And while you wait, you can play some MvC or Metal Slug. The waiting time can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 seconds.

Worst fish tacos I’ve ever had. They tasted sort of… funky. And the sauce was basically just mayonnaise. They don’t wrap the tacos with two tortillas, just one so it falls apart the second you eat it. The rice is really dry. I’ve given this place three tries, and each time it hasn’t been very good.

So I have this weird burrito tour i’m doing where I’m determined to eat at every Taco shop in a 2 mile radius of university heights. So far I’ve eaten at about a dozen. So I searched Unilocal and just came here for the first time this morning before work. Called and the guy was nice enough to read me the breakfast burrito menu. So I order a #4(steak, egg, and cheese) with French fries and a little pico de gallo inside. I arrive 10 minutes later and my burrito is hot and ready. He charges me almost an extra dollar for the pico de gallo which I don’t think is fair, but whatever. With an additional charge for the fries it was $ 7.83. Quite a bit for a 3 star taco shop breakfast burrito. He grabs my card and charges $ 8.38 instead. Though it’s not a big deal, it’s a huge pet peeve of mine when businesses don’t inform you of an extra 50 cent charge cause I had plenty of cash on hand. He offered to refund my card and apologized but I had to leave in a hurry for work and didn’t have the time. At the end of all of it, the burrito was just ok. Nice sized, but honestly: just OK. Definitely not worth $ 8.38. Probably more like $ 6. And $ 2.38 isn’t such a huge deal, but considering the competition in the area I’m not too sure I’ll be back to this spot.

I’ve tried a few of the other Mexican places on Adams and they always seem to have very long wait times or poor quality ingredients. Rolberto’s has changed from the place to eat when you don’t really have expectations to the number one place to go.

My preferred place for carne asada fries! Their other food is all good too. They have a couple arcade games inside. The parking lot is tiny and there are rarely spaces open, and a bit hard to maneuver. They share it with about three other businesses so keep an eye out for street parking nearby. Adobada tacos are delicious and cheap!

Solid food for a good price. Salsa was excellent even though the carnitas were a tad bit overcooked and dry. Open late is another plus.

5 Star food! Especially drunchies! Definitely not a place where you want to sit down and have a nice meal, because it has no ambiance effect ATALL. Carne Asada fries will blow your mind as well as the tacos. I highly recommend if you want authentic Mexican food to go!

I’ll admit my first visit here was after a couple drinks– it was good! I had to try it for lunch– I had a Carne Asada Torta and it was good! I’ve been back 3 times! No disappointments wohoo! If you expect exceptional service this isn’t the place for you. It’s what do you want here is your order type of place. Though they are very attentive to adding/removing anything you want with whatever order. The one thing that sucks is there debit card fee. They don’t tell you they just charge it.

Once I saw the metal bars at the counter, I knew the food would be legit. This is no frills dirty delicious grease bomb mexican food. You couldn’t ask for a better hangover cure. I like the pictures on the wall, especially the menudo. It looked like a bowl of diarrhea. Some guy asked me and my friend if we wanted a threesome with him. My friend didn’t pay attention because she was contemplating getting the shrimp diabla.

My fiancé & I moved to Normal Heights in January. One day he was out to work and I didn’t feel like making breakfast… First thing that crossed my mind? Breakfast burrito! So I went on a mission down Adams for the first place I could find, and lo and behold, I was blessed by the mexican-food gods with Rolberto’s. Since living here, I’ve tried their Breakfast burrito #6(bomb), rolled taco plate(can’t go wrong when you don’t feel like something particularly greasy), chicken burrito(perfectly shredded) & their carne-fries(don’t bother going anywhere else in San Diego.) Portions are pretty big for what you pay! & Their employees have always been awesome! Open late so holla at them when you get a case of the munchies! ;)

I don’t see anything really special about this Mexican food except convenience, location and yummyness. Prices a high for what it is IMHO but I understand why places have to charge what they do. I was craving a taco. Got a taco. It was so greasy I couldn’t even hold it I got a burrito and asked for mild salsa. He must have not understood and gAve me super hot salsa. I will keep coming back because it’s close to me and fulfills cravings. But its nothing amazing :)

Absolutely the worst customer service experience ever! They could NOT have cared LESS if we stayed to order or leave which we did. And with no one in the dining area at 630pm, other than one of the workers yakking on their cell phone, that was enough for us. PS, if you bought a $ 20 For $ 10 voucher for Roberto’s at this address from Corporate Perks, don’t waste your time, no tickee no washee, and the same goes for any coupon, they don’t take em,

Decent taco shop. Open late for the after-drinking grub time. Had the shrimp burrito and I would maybe call myself a shrimp burrito connoisseur. This particular one had sour cream(which has only been on a handful of shrimp burritos I have had) but the red sauce was great. There are bars on the order counter but when I was in there, it made total sense as to why they were needed. There was a fight in the parking lot and a plethora of drunkies running around(some even grabbing on the bars).

This Mexican restaurant is next to my favorite donut shop so it was only a matter of time until i stepped in for some tacos or a burrito. Now i am no clean freak, just ask my wife but this establishment could really use a make over and deep cleaning from top to bottom. Dirty floors, dirty windows, old sticky trays and i cant even imagine what the kitchen looks like! So i was not comfortable eating the burrito i ordered, my friend ate it and said it was delicious. So for that, i give it two stars. Sincerely, A possible Germ-phobe
