Stopped into this Rubios’s for lunch with the guys on a Friday. Everything was exactly what I expected. Quick service, plenty of seating and the food was on par all the other Rubios’s locations I go to. Can’t go wrong with the Original Fish Tacos. I just wish the parking situation was a little better. But the friendly and helpful staff made the hunt for a parking spot worth it.

California bowl deserves five stars but the meat is always over cooked here. My mahi mahi is hard, cold and very chewy. I can live without the horribly cooked fish. Ironically.

I love this Rubios. The manager here is the hardest working man with the greatest attitude. He’s staff is a reflection of his great leadership. Te food is always fast, fresh and made to order. This is my fav spot for a fresh salad or tacos for lunch. Super clean too.

This Rubio’s is right by my work, unfortunately they have the worst parking lot ever, it is still a very well staffed restaurant. Everyone that works here is very polite and accommodating! Two thumbs up! Plus, I really like the remodel, very clean looking!

Clean location next to home, I wanted something you usually don’t get on a rainy day. I’m sure all the phở places and soup joints are packed. I opted for the taco Tuesday option. Parking is shared with other businesses and looks like there are designated pickup spots right up front. Lobby area is well kept, and the line forms along the wall. Friendly service was delivered and I got my three tacos on corn tortilla within 10 minutes. Presentation was neat for the taco plate. Under the cabbage blanket was the famous cod, battered and fried to a golden crisp perfection. The sauce that came along with the taco was creamy but not spicy. Each bite was crunchy never soggy and the juiciness of the cod swished around the palate like a beach wave. The condiment bar was clean and I chose picante and chipotle salsas for the sides. Solid choice. Limes were plentiful for that citrus kick. I think what is missing at this point is a Corona. I don’t think they sell them here. Now off I go, jogging off this newly acquired fish taco food belly.

Came here to eat because they are having a special coupon to get a free plate. On the coupon it says one coupon per person, PERVISIT. This coupon can only be used once. In my understanding this means you can use the coupons once every time you visit. If they dont want people coming twice, 3 times, 4 times they could of said on this coupon can only be used once and not say per visit. Food is good tho.

I have been to this Rubio’s location countless times and always receive great food with descent service. I had not been in since the remodel had started and was rather confused. Peter, the staff working, immediately greeted me. As I looked around he kindly explained that they were remodeling and to excuse their dust. I am typically the girl who always get the same exact thing but was wanting to try something new. I was very impressed that Peter had solid knowledge of the menu and was able to recommend choices. I was very impressed that he not only did his job well but actively engaged me as a person. He is one of those people that if the food wasn’t he best you would come back because you had great service.

Don’t hate me for loving Rubio’s when there are mom and pop Mexican taco shops on pretty much every corner here in San Diego. Let me remind you that Rubio’s started in San Diego as one of those small, greasy taco shops that evolved into a fast food staple in California. I am lucky enough to work right near the Rubio’s Test Kitchen up in Kearny Mesa. They always have new items they are testing out and I am happy enough to be the«test taster»! They had a blackened fish burrito last month that was the MOST delicious thing I have ever had from a fast food spot. It tasted like something you would order at a fish shop on the harbor. If you are a Rubio’s fan and you are in the area you need to try the test kitchen. You will be blown away.

Good lunch spot. I usually order the same items when I come here. Not the usual fish taco like everyone else does. I like the california bowl. I also get a side of the chipotle white sauce(liquid gold). Best to call your order ahead of time, especially during lunch because it can be busy. Parking can sometimes be a pain and I try and come either before 12 or after 1. Lots of people go there to eat on their lunch break. I like their salsas. To my knowledge, all of them are made in house fresh every day. My favorite is the green tomatillo salsa. Has a nice tang to it.

I try to come to this particular Rubio’s once a week, since I work in the area and my office is just a couple minutes down the road. This is one of their test kitchens, where they are trying new things all the time. A few months ago I had their shrimp and bacon burrito, which was pretty delicious. However, I usually just get a couple of fish tacos, or the chicken nachos if I’m extra hungry. The interior of this restaurant was recently remodeled, and it looks great. Feels much more open and airy than it did before. They’re not in the best location– this particular shopping center is a bit tricky to get in and out of, and it’s always crowded during the lunch hour. But that just means they’re doing things right, I suppose. P. S. Rubio’s is no longer known as «Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill» — they changed their branding about a year ago. Companywide, the stores are now called«Rubio’s Coastal Grill.»

The original fish tacos cannot be beat! Rubies is a San Diego staple for a reason and find myself always craving their fish tacos. This location is incredibly clean and continent! Service is very friendly and speedy!

Buying my lunch here right now and i’m happy this place is not crowded at this hour hahaha… they got my «complicated» order right and they greet everyone who enters the place. Smiles are everywhere and i’m a happy camper :-) The only thing is, their place is situated in a corner which for me is not as visible. I just noticed them because i had to run to 7Eleven to get some cash and as soon as i enter the shopping strip i just noticed them at the corner(or maybe it’s just my vision LoL). Overall good experience at this location.

A fish taco combo was in order when I stopped in this Rubio’s for some late dinner. I ordered the new Mango Habanero Mahi Mahi tacos. I forgot to ask for black beans, so the meal came with regular pinto beans. However, when I told the server who brought my food out, he brought be a fresh bowl of blacked beans topped with a little cheese. Anyways, I had the fish tacos on corn tortillas and they were good. The Mahi Mahi was perhaps a little over done, but not by much. Mahi Mahi being a mild fish by nature, it needs more aggressive seasoning, so in hind sight, I should of gotten it blackened, but it was fine as it was. The tasted good, and the habanero and mango salsa was pretty good and the habanero provided a milder heat than I expected, but that was a good thing. The mango pieces were sweet and tangy. I ended up eating both the pinto and the black beans with the tortilla chips that came with the combo The pinto beans were better than I expected. They were creamy but still had whole tender pintos. The black beans were equally as good but provided a more robust flavor that I like. I always love that that they sprinkle a little cheese on their beans. The service here was quite lively and well managed. Service at the counter was great and the employees on the floor were quite friendly and helpful.

Slowest Rubio’s ever. Have been waiting for 30 min to get my food, along with 10 other people. Don’t go here, go to an actual Mexican joint. Customer service is atroshish. The Manager keeps telling me it’s on its way, but unfortunately that’s what she told 10 min ago. Still waiting for my food at this moment, and I’m about to ask for a refund on my purchase. I don’t know if all Rubio’s are like this, but the the one on Clairemont Mesa Blvd is one to pass up.

I go to the Rubios in Sorrento Valley very frequently as it’s close to my work. I had a meeting out in Clairemont Mesa today and was passing by this Rubios during lunch time and decided to stop in. The Rubios in Sorrento Valley is fantastic. This Rubios in Clairemont Mesa has some issues. I won’t detail the other ones here, but my biggest gripe was the service. I usually always get the Chicken Grilled Stuff Burrito and the only instruction that I tell them is to cook it for extra time, meaning grill the burrito so it’s crispy. I told the woman at the register this at least 3 different times and each time she just gave me a blank stare and nodded her head. Lo and behold I get the burrito back and it’s cold and not crispy at all, they barely cooked it. Needless to say this ruined my lunch. Don’t let the short brunette Hispanic woman take your order, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have the capacity to accommodate anything more than the most basic of orders.

I ate a fishless fish taco today … and I always brag on how big the fish is. My first time eating at this location. Maybe they were on fish rations :/

Since I’ve moved to this area this Rubio’s has been nothing but disappointing =(, I love Rubio’s too. The past 4 – 5 times I’ve been here the food has been poor quality and flavorless. This time I ordered the Health Mex veggie burrito, granted I know when you get your food«healthier» and without meat it doesn’t taste as good. In this case my burrito was small, they were out of wheat tortillas, and my veggie burrito was actually a rice burrito. When I order a veggie burrito I expect it to be filled with veggies, not rice. My bf’s chicken burrito was also a disappointment. I have not eaten food here and walked away thinking that was great or even good, I’ve contantly been disappointed and wished I had gone somewhere else.

oh wow. So i am a regular at Rubios. No shame. Hey, it is not really fast food. The wait for food is nothing but fast at this rubios but i endure it with a smile and eat my fish tacos happily. Tacos, black beans, fresh limes and they even sell beer. Rubios is the cure to my lunch blues.
