I want to thank Mr. Jac Arnold for a successful remodel in my home. This was an unplanned remodel due to a broken pipe in my kitchen ceiling. The water leak affected the kitchen, master bath and hallway bath. Jac and his crew were professional, courteous and accommodating. San Diego Custom Building worked within my budget and time frame. My wife and I recently hired Jac and his team for foundation repair on the nearly 100 year old home we live in. It was work we knew would have to be done eventually and we wanted to get it done before it became a problem. What we had done was a new pier and post foundation put in, added earth quake retrofitting, and had some plumbing work to replace hard to reach sections of 100 year old pipe.
I found Jac to be highly professional and competent. He was easy to work with scheduling the job and finished on time at his proposed cost. And… it was all at a fair price. There really wasn’t anything he could have done to make our job go smoother, especially considering the scope of the work.
Regarding the quality of the work, I’ve never worked construction, but when Jac took me down below the house to inspect the work they had done I really got an appreciation for difficulty and technical nature of foundation repair. Below the house its hot, its dusty, and its cramped (we’re talking like 2 – 3 feet of space to work in and worse in some areas). Despite these adverse conditions the completed work I saw looked great and left me wondering how his team managed to transform the piles of steel, wood, and cement sitting in my backyard into neatly organized supporting beams underneath our house. This is why you hire licensed and insured professionals!
It is important to know that with foundation work there is some risk involved. The house shifts a bit, hairline cracks can show up, doors might not close right, windows can get tighter. After going under the house its really obvious why this can happen. Fortunately, we had no major issues and only one cosmetic issue with some dry wall shifting a small amount. Considering the scale of the work I was impressed and pleased we didn’t notice more signs.
In total, I definitely recommend Jac if this is work you are considering having done. From my experience I would also trust him for work beyond foundation repair.
