San Diego Systema

This is where to go to build strength, relaxation, martial skill, flexibility and dynamic movements. That’s why some of the students here have gone on to start their own school, yet fail to mention that they learned what they know from San Diego Systema. The instruction is top notch and the very large gym accomodates huge seminars and events. The students are all helpful and help push you to the next level, if you ask for it. There are no belts or ranks in Systema, you just train. No katas, tests, or costumes. There is also no ego and what you learn here is practical skill, effective martial arts for serious students. It is at your own pace, and there is always a progressive warm up and cool down period. Monday, Wednesdays and Saturdays its time for San Diego Systema. I have been training in this systema school for about five years now. I also train in aikido. I am not an expert nor especially proficient in either, and here are my two cents. I have found that both arts are complementary and what I have been able to achieve in one positively influences the other. One thing I like about systema is that it is not technique driven, or ‘kata ‘driven, so a good part for me is that a lot of mat time is spent working to incorporate its principles. I see these principles as dealing with stress in a variety of healthy ways. It’s luck I suppose, but I have great teachers and a great community of training partners in this school.

Systema is the best thing that I have done for myself. If you are curious about Systema then come here first. There are no colored belts or rank to achieve. There are no tournaments or medals to win. If you want to learn to fight effectively, I believe that you will here and within a relatively short time. The combat aspect of Systema is complete, pure and effective but that is not anywhere near all that there is to it. You will benefit physically, mentally and spiritually if you are spiritually inclined. If you are not then that is fine too. There are many bizarre assumptions and accusations made towards Systema online. I am not sure where they came from but I know that they are not relevant. Everyone who attends is kind, humble and good. Those who are otherwise do not remain. Please come by and join us if you have the slightest inclination to do so. You will have a good time.

Amazing facility with 4000sqft, ADA acess compliant, easy parking, and all the members and instructors make new students & beginners feel welcome and encouraged. Certified Systema Instructors for each class. Open enrollment is ongoing for new students, and classes seem to be filling up well. All ages, sizes, levels, OK.
Great self defense training for your body and mind. Traditoinal & effective Aikido classes are also offered at the same location so you can get double the training in for basically the same price.
