Did an online order in a rush. Showed up and they hadn’t even looked at it. Staff wasn’t apologetic and didn’t even expedite the order.

The great cozy corner gourmet coffee shop where your taste buds are in for an out of this world treat. We had the 23hr cold brewed coffee with the local organic hot coffee, as an avid coffee drinker I will say“This place makes the absolute best coffee…”. The pastry, the made to order Artisan croissant sandwiches and the bagels are just three items n the menu we had and we couldn’t get enough of. if you’re visiting San Diego you would do yourself a disservice not to stop at this corner coffee shop and enjoy their offerings.

This place is amazing! The food is so good! The pitaya bowl is incredible! The staff is so kind and really helpful. The service is a little bit slow since they don’t have many employees, but it’s completely worth it!

Staff is really nice! You gonna create ur own sandwich or bagel, then hand it to the cashier. They will double check ur order before place it. Its my first time here with my roommate, we pretty like their breakfast and of course desserts!!!

I have been here twice and both times my order was incorrect. Coming from a customer service and retail background I don’t understand how much easier it can get to complete a customers order correctly when they are writing it on a piece of paper for you. I would have loved to complain and get my correct order filled, but it takes 20 minutes to get a bagel with cream cheese and I don’t have an hour to waste on getting breakfast. The layout here is ridiculous, if you need utensils or sugar in your coffee you have to squeeze past everyone else that is waiting in line. In all honest the food is decent but the coffee is very good. Maybe you should stick to the coffee and a limited«ready to serve» breakfast menu?

Lots of tables, clean, quick service, and friendly. Fast internet. What else do you need from a coffee shop. Side note — I was the only one there on a Thursday afternoon. Menu looks pretty big as well for food items.

Coffee is good here but the service is very inefficient — if there are 3 – 4 people in front of you, it will take them at least 25 minutes to give you food. They couldn’t even give us muffin! Just shows that they are not thinking right. I might not come back. Wish I had today breakfast somewhere else. Acai bowl is a disappointment here. Why on the earth they use frozen strawberry in San Diego in August??? Charge you $ 9 per bowl and give you frozen berries? It’s a joke

It’s a great little place to stop in for a coffee or a dessert. We were walking by on our way to Lion coffee and it just drew me in. The gal behind the counter was very energetic and friendly. The atmosphere is like a white box. We didn’t stay, I took my coffee to go. Not too much else to say except that it was a-ok. The coffee, the service… I cannot complain!

This coffee shop was walking distance from our hotel which made grabbing a great cup of coffee convenient. We ordered some delicious bagels and cream cheese along with a green tea latte and house cup of joe. I enjoyed the vegetable cream cheese I had on my bagel and liked that they had many flavors to choose from. The bagels were a little crunchy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside, just how a bagel should be. The girl behind the counter was patient and kind and made ordering a breeze. The only part I didn’t like the was iPad order which made you choose tipping selections before a final total was given. It seems like an awkward requirement for a simple bagel and coffee order.

I was introduced to the iPad of terror here. Apparently in California they are spearheading a movement of tip-bullying. If you swipe your credit care they turn it around and it says«how much would like to tip» and then it has the«suggested 15%» and the we’d love you«20%». This is something yet to be seen to me in Chicago but after I saw it here I saw it at several other places without wait services where the people who are essentially clerks are now pressuring credit card swipers into padding the bill to «make ends meet». So this is an entirely different problem not to be entirely debated here on Unilocal but it ruined my otherwise nice experience when I scrambled to find my cash to avoid this BS situation. The coffee and baked good are averaged — their strategy for employee compensation is not.

3.5 star. Not a bad place to make a stop to grab a warm cup of quality joe in the morning on the go. I was staying at the Marquis Marriott just a block away, and was making my way to get breakfast. While waiting for a table, I popped into Skybound for a hot cup of coffee for a cold windy morning. Check in and get 20% off your espresso drink. I ordered just a coffee. Sadly, it was already brewed and ready for self-serving. It wasn’t brewed to order. But for decent coffee, it wasn’t half bad. I didn’t try the bagels or desserts but they looked tasty. Okay service. My friend seemed to be asking a lot of questions about a certain drink, and the guy didn’t seemed too annoyed about it. Haha. I was just listening while getting my coffee together. Indoor and outdoor seating. Enjoy.

I came here to do some work the other day, and I am pretty happy with this place, service is very good, friendly, and quick. They have many loose leaf teas to choose from which I absolutely love, and plenty of delicious desserts. I had the lemon meringue tea which was very good, and a turkey pesto sandwich which was perfect, absolutely loved it, and I usually can be a bit picky with my pesto! I will definitely come back for studying here. I do recommend they add salads to the menu, I took of the bread off my sandwich, its fine, but salad options would be fantastic.

Filter coffee is served out of a thermos. They are out of decaf in the mid afternoon, and the regular coffee was only mildly hot. We ordered two coffees and quickly drank it. However, the attendant was willing to make fresh coffee for us, yet we didn’t want to wait 10 minutes for it to be ready. The other reason for only 2 stars is the fact their toilet was not serviced with paper.

I spotted Skybound during my last visit to SD but did not have time to try it out. Now during my winter break, doing some urban hiking, stopped by for coffee and pastries. The first thing that caught my attention about this coffee shop is the design. Huge bravo to the designer that created this fantastic logo. It is so cool, aesthetically pleasant, well achieved. The interior of the lounge is also comfortable and pretty with those glass orbs with flowers hanging from various points. Very neat. The best, other than the great coffee was the customer service. The Asian lady working making the coffees was offering constant smiles and frequently asking if the cappuccino was of my taste and if the pastries were good. She was awesome and gave a great impression of Skybound. Also, remember to check in on Unilocal for your 10% discount! The only thing I would suggest is to clean more, the counter facing the customers, where the cashier is, was very dirty, full of accumulated dust. Ok, that is a machine and not the food area, but does not give a good impression. Also the tables and floor were messy, but I assume they were only 2 girls working and lots of customers at that time.

After spending a week in San Diego, I had to find a place to cool my heels before my train back to LA took off. I set my parameters in Unilocal’s search feature I found Skybound Coffee and Dessert Lounge, directly below my apartment and it had a Unilocal Special Deal $ 5 for $ 10!!! So after reviewing the Unilocal reviews, I picked up the special and was pleased at the results. Not only did I get a great deal, but I was able to sample their breakfast sandwich(egg and cheddar on a croissant), but I was also able to pick up a Oatmeal reason cookie and an Ice Tea. The staff was super friendly and gave me an awesome suggestion for my iced tea, Apple Pie with Caramel as a sweetener. Mmmm, just like an apple pie. There were several tables inside as well as two out door seating patios. There were two lounge chairs as well as counter space in a glass vestibule. Free wifi also made this location a convenient place to wait for my train. If you’re in the downtown area and you don’t want to go to a Starbucks than swing by Skybound Coffee and Dessert Louge! Be sure to pick up the Unilocal special, it’s totally worth it.

I’m rating and reviewing breakfast, not dessert. We’ve been on a big coffee and acai bowl kick recently, making a tradition out of getting both on Saturday mornings. We typically go elsewhere for that, but wanted to give Skybound a try. They seem to have retained the Bagel Club menu, which shouldn’t surprise me as much as it does. Their specialty bagel sandwiches were good, but I thought they were trying to distance themselves from that venture. I’m digressing. Mostly because I don’t have a lot of good things to say about this place, or our orders. I’ve gotten kind of spoiled on the other acai bowls downtown, so I was hoping to get something at least comparable from here. No. Apparently, they buy the frozen acai base, store it, rip it open when a customer’s silly enough to order a bowl, throw some fruit and granola on top, and call it good. Now, before you start to argue that that doesn’t sound so bad, let me tell you this — they’re relying on the fruit and granola to provide flavor to the whole thing, and it’s just not enough. The base was bland. It wasn’t just bland, it was completely flavorless. Most other places will mix the acai packets with something(I’m guessing a yogurt base, but I could be wrong) before serving it. Apparently, they don’t have time for that. So, what you’re given, underneath a small serving of bananas and strawberries(ONLY! NO other fruit!), is basically a colored, flavorless icy-type thing. Then, let me get to the fruit. Yes, I already mentioned it, but it bears repeating. Even Lion’s Coffee gives you more variety in their bowls than just a couple cut up strawberries and one small portion of a sad banana. Pathetic. And finally, the wait for these two bowls and our drinks was unbelievably long. Especially given it’s a pouch that was torn open and squeezed into a bowl with no frills. Seriously, what took so long? Then, they couldn’t find us, as we were outside on the patio with the beagles, despite the fact that my husband had told them that we’d be out there. The good is that they are dog-friendly, and I think they have free wireless(don’t quote me). The coffee drink was good, but not my favorite. And… I think that’s about as nice as I can get.

Unilocal 2014 Challenge #97/100 First off, just saying that the low rating is because of the service, rather than the food. The service was pretty slow for a coffee shop with only two customers. But then again it was one person, so I guess it was to be expected. Ordered a pomegranate tea with mango pieces. Their prices are actually not that bad. Their drink wasn’t sweetened(so I guess I should have mentioned it/brought it up). Guess I’m too used to Starbucks. Medium was $ 2.50(even with the add-on!) And then the 10% off your bill with the Unilocal check-in makes that price even better! :D Good store to check out and try your coffee and pastries– I haven’t tried them yet but other reviews have said to try them out. Small place but hopefully there are 2 people who are working when you’re going! ENJOY :)

This is a great little coffee lounge where the Bagel Club use to be located. I stopped in on a Sunday morning and ordered a cup of coffee and the some lox on a whole wheat everything bagel( ). The bagel had a good toasty exterior and filled with that everything goodness( ). The bagel was moister and chewier than I expected, in a very good way of course. The smoked salmon was very good. It had a good smokey rich flavor and coupled with the cream cheese and fresh tomatoes, it certainly hit the spot( ). Loved it! The house drip coffee was very smooth with a nice mid medium roast flavor. They offer many baked goods, including quiche and sandwiches, and of course coffees, fresh juices, and smoothies. Service was very. In fact, the young lady who took my order had a great positive personality and made me feel welcomed.
