I don’t believe she is taking on any new clients. I called and left her a message for an appointment and she never responded. Ever. I left the message and waited a couple days and just decided to go elsewhere.(It has since been two weeks). Yes, I did leave the message on her voicemail because she did state her name as well as the name of the salon on the greeting. In a city full of amazing salons Marina is really not trying that hard to obtain business.

Marina has been cutting and styling my hair for about 5 years. I’m a loyal client and she is a very loyal and amazing stylist and(now) friend. She is the only one I trust to do my hair! Marina is excellent at what she does… I wouldn’t go to anyone else for my hair needs :-)

I’ve done a lot to my naturally black hair. I went from dark to light, to dark, to highlights, back to dark, more highlights, etc. etc. Marina was very honest and upfront with me. She told me my hair may not be able to achieve the result I want. She’s not about making sales, she cares for your hair and is very passionate about what she does. She’s very knowledgable and has the touch. I highly recommend her.

Let me start off by saying Marina is a genuinely nice person and is very easy to talk to. After reading all the positive reviews about Marina on Unilocal,I decided to purchase a Groupon for a choice of either balayage highlights or ombré with haircut. I was skeptical at first because I haven’t colored my hair in over 14 yrs. but my virgin black hair desperately needed a change. When I went in, I showed Marina a picture of an ombré hair style I would’ve loved to have done. She ended up bleaching blonde balayage highlights into my natural black hair… nothing close to what I wanted. People told me that some of the highlights looked white and that my hair reminded them of a skunk. I let Marina know and she said it would cost $ 45 to tone it over. I didn’t want to risk another hair failure so I decided to go to someone else to get my hair fixed and spend more money on top of what I had already spent on the Groupon plus the tip I gave Marina. On a positive note, I found another new hair stylist who fixed my hair and gave me the ombré look I desired.

Marina did an amazing job, after searching for a stylist for almost a year I’m so happy I found her! Cannot beat the environment especially if you’re not into super loud, crazy, hectic salons. This place is perfect and so is her work.

Marina is pretty much AMAZING! I’ve been going to her ever since I found her at Foxy a few years ago and every appointment w/her has been awesome! Her new studio is really cute and cozy and time flies when you’re chatting with her. I completely trust her with my hair(both color and cut) and I really like how she takes her time and makes sure I’m comfortable with every step. Her suggestions are always on point and I’ve never left disappointed. If I could give her 10 stars, I would!

A close friend of mine originally introduced me a salon in Linda Vista because she was going to Marina for her hair and since we went together, I went with another stylist there; basically, I didn’t know any better and stuck with my girl who I thought is a very decent stylist and catered to what I wanted at the time. Recently, that same friend told me that Marina had branched off and started her own studio in Mission Valley, conveniently right next to where I live! She was ecstatic to hear that Marina was back at work and recommended me again to check her out. Confession: I randomly stumbled upon a Groupon for her Conditioning/Cut service — my ends happened to be torched dry and I have to be in a wedding in 3 weeks so I was in search of a conditioning service of some sort. Fate? I think so :) Got to the building(it’s in Sola Salon which is in the lobby of the T.Y. Lin Engineering building) and was greeted by Marina at her door and told she was running a bit behind schedule. Totally fine/understandable — the woman only has one chair so scheduling/keeping on-time is not something I’d hold against her. Plus, if you’re going in for a hair service, you should know ahead of time that you do NOT rush your time. Waited for about 10ish minutes and Marina welcomed me into her homey-abode studio. Marina had warned me over the phone when I was making my appointment that she was going to bombard me with questions and she wasn’t wrong. Not in a bad way though! She had to ask me the whole schpeel before starting my service with me and I appreciated the thoroughness — that’s key to being a great stylist; not only being able to deliver what your client wants but doing it by understanding what you want as opposed to asking you step by step. I always want the creativity/recommendations from the actual stylist too! Overall experience was amazing — Marina was very easy to talk to and we chatted as if I’d gone to her for my hair treatments for many years. She even gave me suggestions for how to do my hair for the upcoming wedding that I have to be in after I showed her the bridesmaid dress. Recommended me a hair mask to use so I wouldn’t have to come in for the conditioning treatment so often and even gave me a disposable shower cap to use for my conditioning treatments at home :) I absolutely LOVE her! And I know you will too. For as long as I’m living in San Diego, she will be my go-to hair stylist. I wish her all the best!

I have never been so excited to get hair cut! Of course it’s because it is done by the fabulous Marina who can her work magic on thick hair. I remember I found her at Foxy’s through Unilocal reviews and was hooked instantly when she worked on my hair. I naturally have thick hair that grows more in width than length. It looks more like a birds nest when not maintained. When Marina cuts my hair, she thins it out so well that I forget what it feels like to have less weight on my head. Also, when my hair grows out it is less poofy and is more tamed in comparison to other hairstylists that have cut my hair in the past. After not being able to find Marina at Foxy’s, I was very cautious with who cut my hair and was excited when my sister found her. Marina is sincere, which is a really hard quality to find in stylist. She also has a great personality and a whole session will fly by because she is so easy to talk to.

I googled Studio MSX and was very happy to see Marina’s own Unilocal page! In the last twenty some years, I have never found someone who can cut my hair as well as Marina. She is also very consistent in the quality of her work, so I always go to her with confidence. So glad to have found you again, Marina!

So glad to have found Marina again! She is the absolutely best and I trust her with my hair. I’m sure everyone says this but I mean cause the woman told me to get bangs six years ago and I still rock them! Her studio is in the back and it’ll just be her, but she’s the best to talk to while she’s handling your hair.

I am so glad I found Marina again! After she left Foxy, I have had to seek out other people to cut my hair and I always feel ambivalent about my new do. I have thick Asian hair and most people don’t know how to cut it. When I ask to layer my hair, I always end up with three distinct layers that reminds me of a mullet. Aye yay yay! After my hair cut today, I feel like a new woman! Marina is great knowing what looks best on you and my layered haircut looks so natural, healthy, and bouncy. An added bonus is that Marina is genuine and it’s so easy to get wrapped up in conversation with her. My hair session flew by fast because of her great personality. I will never to let anyone touch my hair except Marina, Girl Scouts honor.

I’ve followed Miss Marina to her lovely new studio and I feel so lucky to have her help me look my best for all my events this year! She is a great conversationalist and just an all around wonderful person. She’s done my ombré color and styling as well as makeup and I’ve received so many compliments from my peers, hubby, friends etc :) I knew she was a gem from the first time I had my hair done years back and my hair looked amazing even after it grew out months later! Thank you Marina! :)

I am so glad Marina is back to doing her thing! She’s got so much love and passion in what she does best. I’ve had to go to other stylists when she wasn’t doing hair, but no one compares. Marina makes you feel comfortable and will listen to your wants and needs. Recently, I went in to see her with a washed out ombré and grown out layers. I told her I wanted to go natural for the fall season. She gave me what I wanted and more… dark brown with long layers. Loved it! Oh, and don’t forget to pick up some Kenra products when you see her. There’s a reason why she praises that stuff!

Marina has been my go-to hair guru for 4+ years! She is the ONLY person I trust to be around my locks with a pair of scissors. During her year-long hiatus I tried out a couple other hair stylists and none of them even came close to providing the cut, style, or care that Marina puts in… Marina knows her stuff and her passion shows… I am so happy that she is back in the game… with a new studio and everything!!! Seriously… if you’re looking for someone to love your locks Marina is the person to see… :)

Absolutely love Marina! She understands my hair(i.e., how it falls, how it looks best with how i style it day to day, and my dramatic change of extreme color changes). I have been seeing her for years now and since the beginning have been getting non stop compliments and have been referring coworkers, etc. to her since. She use to be at Foxy Hair Salon and now at Studio MSX i am able to see her more than just the typical salon hours. A must go to. So happy she is back.
