PADREGAMEDAYPARKING: Tailgate park follows the basic business rule: the closer you are to the gates of hell, the hotter the fire you’d feel. With $ 30 for parking on a Padre game night, this place is a borderline rip-off, but hey, who’s complaining — no one! After all, consider this parking fee as one one extra ticket for the car. Poor car(!) she will get to sit amongst smile-free ACE employees who mechanically, robotically grab the greenbacks from your hand and(only when asked where to go) point you in the general direction of already taken spaces, while I speak under my breath: Lady, all I see yonder are a gaggle of cars, should I trust that there is a secret spot you lovingly saved there for me? I drive on, back and forth, until I found one way in the back. Here is a note to self: In future, just as the 163 highway dissolved into the downtown delta, about 8 – 9 blocks from the Petco park, find a lot and park because it will cost just $ 6 here, or maybe $ 15 about 4 blocks from the Petco park. It won’t be much of a walk from here either — the length of 4 San Diego downtown blocks are about 2 Manhattan blocks. The money I will save on parking can buy me and my friend a beer during the game.. . that’s a cheerful thought.
