The Clutch Bar

Awesome fucking place bartender here is fucking amazing right across from sidecar way less crowded and top notch service love u guys especially Robert thank you clutch bar!!!

A few of us from out of town decided to have a cousins night out to celebrate our cousin Nese’s Husband’s Birthday who came all the way from Australia. We had just gotten back from our cousin’s wedding @ the Marina Villages so we were looking for a place to hang out, enjoy a few drinks and relax. We were a little pressed for time since it was nearing midnight. We accidentally stumbled upon this bar as we had originally Unilocaled and found the bar across the street *Sidecar* — BUT– none of us were feelin it :[ The music and crowd just wasn’t our cup of tea so we tried Unilocaling a few other places in the hopes that we might enjoy the last hour and 45 minutes left for the night to get some fun in. I noticed while outside taking a drag that the Clutch Bar was across the street. It looked pretty comfy and homely inside and not as packed or loud as the Sidecar, so at the hesitance of my cousin, I told her it’d make much more sense for us to just run across the street and check out the Clutch cause at that point, ANYTHING better than what was going on at Sidecar would have to do.
Half of us took a smoke break while some of the girls ran across the street to check it out. After awhile I noticed no one came out so I figured it was a GO! As I walked in, I noticed the hip décor and comfy feel to it. I also noticed how CLEAN it is (I’m a germaphobe) so that was a major plus!!! I love the lighting/​interior too! I felt like I walked into a college mess room or something cause it had the pool table, the bar tables, and JENGA! That was so awesome. I even saw some guys with their little dog @ the bar (I did see on Unilocal reviews that the bars out here in San Diego allow dogs) so I was all good with it. Plus, I am a dog lover since my having my own pup.
They have a jukebox so you can play what you wanna listen to and the bartender was pretty cool! My cousins and siblings had their drinks and we were able to play Jenga and enjoy/​sing along to the music. This bar was absolutely perfect for the type of night we were looking to have: a chill evening with family enjoying some quality time over drinks and music/​conversation. Would definitely recommend all to come here. It’s not congested or overly crowded with thirsty ratchets LMAO — its a nice chill place to have fun while enjoying your company.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. It used to be a cool little dive bar, cheap drinks, friendly bartenders, good jukebox. Now it’s just weird! Drinks are expensive, customers are creepy, my poor girlfriend got hit on by the local crack head. Don’t bother going here, try the bar across the street it’s much friendlier and comfortable to hang out!

Great little bar. Small. Super clean. Friendly vibe. Awesome neighborhood bar. I don’t live anywhere near this place but I did meet friends here and had a blast. Great drinks and friendly service from the bartender Sam. Just what a neighborhood bar should be.

Great new little neighborhood bar… quite a few big tvs/​newly remodeled/​great beers on tap with a great price .2 nitros! and they allow me to bring my pup: D bartender is super cool too. We will be back !

Awesome bartenders. Nice change from old bar. Nice vibe. Nice new booths and bar setup. Flat screen tvs around. I’d say great for girls-​night outs or chill spot

Smells new, looks new, feels new. BIG screen tv’s, clean, industrial feel, comfortable. Great beer selection and solid mixed drinks. Bartender is attentive, knowledgable and witty. Well worth a go.

They have nitro taps, a great specialty cocktail menu, tons of whiskey, and tons of tv’s to watch the game on. I went here only a few days after opening and everything was looking tip-​top and bartenders were friendly. Stoked to have a new local bar walking distance from my house.
