It’s been a little over a year since my husband and I moved to SD. and we’re still exploring the neighborhood. came across this popular restaurant(on Unilocal of course) and were so excited to try!(I love noodles!!) We had: –WONTON&DUMPLINGEGGNOODLESOUP — meh… idk if it’s because it was my first time ever trying this noodle dish but I wasn’t impressed at all. It was way too bland for my taste even when rice vinegar, sriracha, hoisin was added. The more sauce I added the weirder it tasted. lol –BEEFSATEEGGNOODLESOUP– this one was also meh. beef was super tender though! –SALT&PEPPERCHICKENWINGS– came on a bed of salad. the wings were crunchy and perfectly seasoned. not bad :] Total: $ 23ish w/out tip. Service: non-existent.and it wasn’t busy at all!(Sunday morning) Parking: Big lot I don’t think we’ll be back.

3.5÷5. I came here with my aunt to get some soup. Wonton and dumpling soup was about 4. I would give Tim Ky Noodle a 4, but it’s hard for me to how overlook how unfriendly our server was. I understand quick service at some Asian restaurants, but our server just seemed irritated. He was a bit impatient in taking our orders and definitely didn’t seem like he was in the mood to answer any questions or offer suggestions. Our water didn’t come until later and when we asked for straws, he seemed irritated. It also took awhile before one of the servers realized I needed a refill on my water and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. On the plus side, our food came out pretty quickly and the temperature of the soup was just right. The portion was plentiful for the small price of $ 6.99. The soup came with a hefty portion of dumplings that I couldn’t finish and also a large amount of egg noodles. The noodles were a bit chewy, which I enjoyed. The broth was flavorful without being too salty or too oily. The chili pepper oil provided on the table is perfect to add to your soup if you want to add some spice. I know this may not be standard, but I wish there were more veggies like bok choy or something in the soup or at least an option to add them on. I’ll probably give Tim Ky another shot if I’m in the area to try other things on the menu. Maybe if the other items are really good I’ll give Tim Ky that extra star. I don’t typically crave Chinese noodle soup over ramen and udon, so I’m biased to say that I wouldn’t return for their soup on a regular basis– but I had a cold and didn’t think a fatty bowl of ramen would be appropriate. Overall, Tim Ky is a solid choice for a bowl of wonton and dumpling soup(better than Luong Hai Ky’s down the street). The food is also pretty cheap for the portions. The interior is nice and clean, but this isn’t a date place. Finally, word to the wise: DON’T eat here if you expect friendly service.

Tim Ky is in the corner of a Vietnamese grocery store. I came here to meet with my family for lunch and it was surprisingly quiet. We ordered #8 and the food was delicious. The food is really good and you can’t beat the price. I would definitely come back with my family and recommend it.

Was out of the country for a week and came back craving Asian food. Phở was the first thing that came to mind until I remembered I had Tim Ky Noodle bookmarked. We ordered the wonton and dumpling soup with egg noodle(#8), fried chicken wing with salt and pepper(#27), and the dry beef chow fun(#41). Everything came out extremely fast. Less than five minutes. The soup was my favorite, followed by the wings, then the beef chow fun. The wings were super crispy and delicious, but it was not as flavorful as I expected. I felt the same way about the beef chow fun. It was good, but missing that extra kick of flavor. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. I would choose this place over Luong Hai Ky down the street the next time my Vietnamese/Chinese noodle craving hits. Stick with the noodle soups and you won’t be disappointed!

BESTWONTONNOODLESOUPEVER. This place has been open for my entire life and I can’t believe that I’ve never tried it. The wontons are filled with shrimp and pork, the rice noodles soak up flavor easily, the onions are fresh and give a good bite, and the broth is so light yet so flavorful. It is slightly oily but I don’t mind! It also comes with a little chip with a fried shrimp that tastes like wonton crackers. Definitely a good exchange for some oriental soup when you’re tired of phở.

I called to find out how many wings came in the salt and pepper wings party tray. The guy answered«I don’t know», I asked him again if he could give me a range or estimate and again he said«I don’t know». What do you mean«I don’t know», how the f*ck am I suppose make sure that there’s enough food for everyone if you can’t give me a rough estimate. If I’m ever in Mira Mesa and have a wings craving, I’ll definitely make sure to get Mexican food instead.

The best viet/Chinese restaurant for noodle soup! I’ve been here twice and both times they had a full house! This is located in the corner of Lucky Seafood and Big lots. I recommend the wonton & dumplings egg noodles soup. It is highly popular and what this restaurant is known for. The broth is flavorful, but I still like to add my spicy sauce & soy sauce(on the table). They are definitely not stingy on their portions, I could barely finish a whole bowl to myself! I prefer this over phở on days when I’m not feeling good and could use a bowl of hot soup. Don’t forget to ask for a side of papaya, it’s so good! Next time I’ll just order to-go. The place itself is kinda tight when it’s a full house and I felt claustrophobic in there. Service is a hit or miss.

I really want to give this place 5 stars because the food is really good. I love that I don’t have to drive all the way to Minh Ky to get my egg noodle soup fix. Walked in about an hour before closing and the place was packed, we notice a few empty dirty tables that were being waited to be cleaned. I just stood there awkwardly in front of the door waiting for someone to tell me what to do, while everyone eating was looking at me. Basically when you walk in there’s no where to sit or wait — its either outside or standing there in front of everyone. I ordered the Wonton and Dumpling Soup with half thick egg noodle and half thick rice noodle with the soup on the side. The flavor was there, I loved having two different kind of noodles because I wanted to try both styles to see which one I would like. I did prefer the thick rice noodles better. The thick egg noodles were too hard for me and didn’t soften up. Which brings me to why I gave this place 3 stars… the broth. Even tho the broth was great and had tons of flavor the temperature of the broth didn’t it cut it for me. I kid you not it was less than room temperature. I thought it was a joke but at the same time I didn’t want to ask them to make my soup hotter for some weird reason. I NEED my soup to be boiling hot! I hate, hate, hate it when my soup is anything less. I do want to give this place another shot but if I come back with another lukewarm soup bowl I’m either going to have to take it to go and heat it up myself or find another place. We’ll see. stay tuned.

I came here once before when me and my hubby we’re both suffering from bad colds, and the food tasted AMAZING! We had to give it another try now that we are both healthy and can taste 100% and it’s just as delicious! Sometimes this place can get packed(it is a little hole in the wall) but we’re here on a Saturday at almost 6 pm and there are plenty of open seats. The food it great, the prices are great, super fast service! It’s definitely one of our hidden gems. Tonight we’re having Beef Chow Fun, and Beef Crispy Noodle. With fresh coconut juice and a Thai tea!

Prelims: recently(as per their signage) renovated, this restaurant proves that delicious things can come small packages. Decently sized, with plenty of room if you’re coming in packs of 2, this restaurant looks clean, feels clean, and has good service as waiters are hovering around all the time and food comes out really, really fast. Parking is absurdly available — if not in front near the big lots, swing around to the back where you get to park rightnext to the restaurant. And best of all, it’s pretty darn affordable. In particular, this place is known for 1 dish: Wonton Dumpling Egg Noodle Soup. I was searching high and low for a good noodle place in the Mira Mesa area when I was referred by a friend to this location(thank you, Unilocal app. Always there when I need you. Except when you were inaccessible when my phone got stolen.). I ordered the WDENS and DAMN! It comes with a wonderful broth of deliciousness, with nicely soft egg noodles that still have a nice bite, an excellently amount of dumplings that border on the absurd of deliciousness, and some BBQ pork. Who puts char shiu in a soup?! This awesome place! The flavor is so good and it’s so satisfying and it doesn’t leave you with that oily grease sweat! And all this deliciousness and satisfaction for only $ 6.99? I could eat here everyday and still save money. TL;DR Noodles. Noodles for days. With dumplings and char shiu. Greatness at a great price.

Came on a Saturday night and it was a little crowded but luckily and I got the last table. Yay! First timer! So upon entrance it’s a little restaurant next to a Vietnamese grocery market, donut shop, haircut store. Etc. There’s a waiting list posted up in front of the door. Simply sign your name or walk inside if you see open tables and someone will direct you where to go. When my boyfriend and I walked I, the server/host asked him how many people. But Filipino! So thankfully I’m Viet and could answer that. I ordered the mi xai don do bien(crispy seafood noodle). It was delicious perfectly cooked. My only complaint would be there was only 3 pieces of shrimp and I would have preferred less, fishcake, squid and vegetables. It came out in 5 – 10 minutes. I rate it an 8⁄10 No one asked us how our food was or checked up on us. They almost brought us someone else’s dish to our table. Had to ask for water refills and you walk to the front for the check. But it was all handled quickly.

This a solid Vietnamese /Chinese noodle place in the Mira Mesa area. The environment is clean and efficient. The food is good and decently priced. I have had their beef sate noodle, dumpling and noodle soup, salted fish fried rice, and beef chow fun. All were solid dishes. I do suggest that they add more sauce to their dry noodles. I typically have to ask for more sauce. I also do wish their portions are larger.

Tim Ky is located in a random strip mall with Big Lots, Lucky’s and other small shops. But don’t get deceived by the outside, the restaurant inside is very clean and lively, mostly with families and students. Since it was my first time, my friend ordered for me and got the Wontons and Dumplings egg noodle soup. The noodle soup was fantastic! The broth was flavorful and it wasn’t filled with MSG like many restaurants. The noodles were very chewy and good. The wontons and dumplings were delicious! I can’t get enough of them! They are definitely not stingy with their portions because the meat and noodles balance was pretty good! Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal and I highly recommend this place! The price is very affordable and the quality is great!

What a delicious local establishment with a wonderful Wonton Dumpling Egg Noodle dish. My husband loves this place and he took me here last night to show me the delicious Wonton Dumpling Egg Noodle soup. It was as delicious as he claimed! We ordered the salt & pepper chicken wings and they were okay(not great). However, the Wonton Dumpling Egg Noodle soup had a fried wonton skin, a ton of dumplings, and the soup was addicting and full of flavor! There were also 2 pieces of BBQ pork in the bowl! I think was like $ 6.99 for the dish so it’s quite affordable! I highly recommend you stop by! All the local Vietnamese people stop by and pick up to go orders to take home! It was pretty busy for a Thursday night! Parking is ample because this is in the same plaza as Big Lots.

This place is small. There was 8 of us and we had to wait for a table. It’s small and it was packed… but Unilocal enthusiasts say it’s good… so me and the fam wait 15 min for a table. The service is pretty chaotic. I had to remind them of food being that was ordered. They are very attentive when you ask for assistance. Ok, now for the food. The table ordered 3 orders of the egg rolls. 3 out 5. I ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings with rice and two over easy eggs. 3 out of 5. Royal mandarin chicken still #1. Wife and kids ordered the dumpling soup, one with egg noodles and another with rice noodles. Concensus says the egg noodles have better flavor. Gotta come back again and try other items!!!

I’ve been to this restaurant on multiple occasions and it has never failed me. I’ve had their combination fried rice and various types of won ton soup. Today, I had the satay beef noodle and singapore noodles. They were just as amazing as the other food entrees I had here. Everything was super flavorful and they are generous with portions. Service is also great and fast, even when it is busy. You can’t go wrong with ordering anything here. Entrees are decently priced for the quality. Highly recommend!

I have an obsession with noodles. This place was calling my name. Small place inside, but updated décor and random music(80s, hip hop, mainstream) play. Menus were on the table when I arrived, so I sat down and was greeted promptly. Menu is extensive(see pictures). Tasted the chicken fried rice, and portions were plentiful and had that«wok» fried taste– yummy. I’ve been to Luong Hai Ky(about a mile away in the Target shopping area) before and noticed they had a similar menu. My favorite over there was the dumpling with noodles, so I thought I would give it a try here. It comes with either egg or rice noodles. I opted for the combo(does not say on the menu but just tell them you want both). YUMMY. The egg noodles were on point and so were the rice noodles. I prefer the rice noodles at Luong Hai Ky however, because they are much thicker(personal preference). The dumplings were really good as well, but I give preference to Luong Hai Ky’s dumpling because it does not contain shrimp where as Tim Ky Noodle does(this is probably a positive for most). Broth was delicious and portions plentiful. Paying was easy, they bring your check to you and you just go up to the register to pay. Luong Hai Ky charges 50 cents if its not over $ 7 and you are using a card, and their lunch special of noodles and dumplings are $ 6 whereas Tim Ky Noodle was $ 6.95. If you are looking for a solid noodle and dumpling place, come here!

I was pleasantly surprised by this find. Apparently there has been a change in owners not that long ago that really brought the service and food up a notch.(The old name was similar sounding but much longer.) This was our first time eating there. and my Vietnamese husband thought it was a pretty tasty find that he wouldn’t mind bringing mom to. Chinese/Vietnamese but mostly vietnamese in my book. It’s located in the same plaza as Lucky Seafood in the very corner of the lot by the Filipino bakery. The inside is clean and seemed recently renovated. We came around 7 and almost all the tables were full. There was a constant stream of customers coming and going. Based on the Unilocal reviews, I order the wonton/dumpling soup. Hubster ordered the combo fried rice and fish sauce(nuoc mam) chicken wings. I added in the eggrolls. Eggrolls seemed homemade. but lacked something in terms of texture and flavor. They were okay but I probably wouldn’t order them again. The fish sauce they served alongside was a little watery and lackluster. Chicken wings were tasty but the hubster felt like they were just the butter/plain fried chicken wings and not the fish sauce ones. The cost per wing was a little on the high side… but the taste was there. I personally liked the crunch of the wings but for the hubster unit it broke even for flavor vs cost. He did really like the combo fried rice. but I felt that it wasn’t anything special. Seemed like your typical chinese fried rice with the meat and chicken a little overcooked and chewy. the rice a little greasy. it might just be that husbter hasn’t had combo fried rice in a long time so it was yummy to him. The best dish by far was the wonton/dumpling soup. The broth was very clean. oh so slightly oily but not too bad(probably sourced from the egg noodles or pork né way). and the dumplings and wontons were delicious! Lots of stuffing and seafood. We ordered half egg and half rice noodle… the egg noodles were better. a good pile of bbq pork and the shrimp cracker to add the touch of vietnamese. I would definitely order the soup again and it would be a tasty treat on a cold day or if I had a cold and didn’t want phở. Overall it wasn’t bad. It’s kind of your family cheap eats for Chinese/Vietnamese food. They don’t have too many of these types of restaurants around Mira Mesa/North County… you’d have to go down to City Heights/Rolando… so it’s nice to know we have this option. Overall 3.5 with a round up for being a small family owned business. Tasty and would return for standard eats. Definitely worth a try for the wonton noodle soup. Eager to try the other things on their menu!

Their food is very good, I’ll give that to them but I was not at all pleased with the level of service. I came here with some friends and I had the wonton noodle soup. The broth was very flavorful and I really liked how the egg noodles soaked up the broth. The wontons were pretty good too. This place is also pretty cheap so you definitely won’t burn a hole in your wallet by coming here. I came here last night at about 8:30pm(they close around 9:00) and I was surprised by how rushed they made my party feel. The waiter came at about 8:35 and told us that we needed to order THEN because they close at 9(there were still 5 or 6 other parties sitting around us, 2 of which still had menus as well) and I told him we needed 5 minutes as we were waiting on one other person. He literally told me that we couldn’t have 5 minutes and I insisted, so he acquiesced. In comes my friend and she sits down and pulls a menu in front of her. The server immediately hovers over us while we were deciding and we ask him for recommendations(there certainly was a language barrier. he couldn’t speak English well and seemed unresponsive when we spoke in Cantonese — we couldn’t speak Vietnamese). 2 wonton noodle soups 1 with rice noodles and the other, egg. 1 beef satay noodle soup. We wait about 10 minutes and our food comes out. Both wonton noodle soups were with egg noodles. A bit annoyed, but it was about closing time and my friend just preferred rice over egg so we didn’t ask for it to be exchanged. but it was still an error likely due to the language barrier. Long story short, we were rushed. It was ~30 minutes from closing.(I always knew closing to be the kitchen would close at 9pm but patrons could stay past and enjoy their food). They made it seem like we had to be out by 9pm and they also took our order incorrectly. Small thing, but they also didn’t have napkins on our table so we took some from an adjacent one. Would I go back again? Sure. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe this restaurant is religious in adhering to its closing time. With that in mind, my experience was definitely a 1-star. If a friend wants to eat here I wouldn’t mind coming back and I can write another review.

This place is super close by my place and it has been open for awhile so last night I took a chance and went there. Oh boy, it’s Friday night. The restaurant was packed full. It’s a good sign right? I walked in place my order which was wonton noodles soup with half egg noodles half rice noodles. I waited for about 15 mins before my order was ready. I like that I can mix 2 types of noodles together since I am always so indecisive when it comes to food. Came home took some pics and I just say there are so little pieces of bbq pork and more noodles. There were only 4 – 5 wontons. I don’t know if that is normal but that’s what I got. U can see it from pics I posted. Flavor wise, so good! Broth is perfectly seasoned. Ummm I want more! Go and try it. It’s a great small place in Mira Mesa :)
