Tontz Russell C, DDS

Dr Tontz is an amazing dentist whom I’ve had the pleasure of seeing for most of my life! I’ve strayed once or twice — solely on account of insurance issues (he’s not covered by HMO plans) — but quickly came running back, even when it meant paying out of pocket.
Not only do I highly recommend Dr. Tontz, but I absolutely adore every member of his team.
The office is conveniently located in Ocean Beach on Sunset Cliffs Blvd. I believe they’re closed Fridays and the last appointment of the day is 4pm.

Since 1990 we have been illuminated about true oral /​dental care. Our three children, wife and I have had privilege of being on front row of dentistry. He keeps his enthusiasm over 40 years because he knows not only is he saving people’s teeth, he is extending lives and removing the «land mines» which keep so many from thriving. From the first microscopic view of «spinners» and white blood cells on his monitor, I knew I was in the presence of genius. Dr. Tontz has been my dentist for several years. I have never had a negative experience form him or his dental assistants in all the years I’ve been seeing him. I can tell that he’s very knowledgeable about dentistry and always makes me feel calm and secure in his care. I have never had any problems with any of the work he’s done on my teeth; when he does it once, it’s done! He has gone the extra mile for me on a number of occasions and I am blessed to be in his care. By the way, I’m a very sensitive, artistic type person and I actually look forward to seeing my dentist, Dr. Tontz.

Dr Tontz aka Uncle Russ (not my real uncle) is the shiiiiiiiiiit! located in ocean beach on the main drag (sunset cliffs?) in a converted house, with a cozy waiting room, super cool feisty receptionists, chatty hygienists, and three small cluttered rooms (forget about his office, it’s in shambles!).
Dr Tontz is a sweet, fatherly type and reminds me of like a nutty professor, sort of bumbling around, talking fast, and looking at your teeth all at the same time. don’t get me wrong, he’s a very skilled dentist and concerned about your health and safety, its just his easy bedside manner is often amusing. my favorite thing the office does is scrapes some cells out of the inside of your cheek and you all look at the slides together magnified on an old computer monitor.
I appreciate how he is full of suggestions on oral hygiene and book recommendations about his latest unique interest. he even referred me to about ten people before I moved into the city. awww.
