I stopped by here to get some papers corrected and to have a nice iced coffee and a small bite to eat before I headed out to attend a lunch meeting; after I was finished corrected the papers of course. The iced coffee with a touch of cream cost $ 3.00 and the toasted and buttered everything bagel cost $ 2.25, if I remember correctly.( ) The coffee was good and not to bitter.( ) My toasted bagel was good, but I would of liked it a little more toasted because it still was soft. I like the toasted crunch. Good bagel nevertheless.( ) That all being said, I happen to over hear a conversation that they are selling the place. The new owners will be taking over soon. It is unknown at this time if they will keep the same healthy concept this place is known for, so a future updated review will be in line.

I can’t help but fall in love with this place. Honestly, the food and coffee isn’t spectacular. Normally, I would three-star a place for that alone, but the CHARM of this place suckered me into a 5 star review. I LOVE the inside, with the photos on the wall, the chalkboard menu(I am such a sucker for chalkboard menus), and the man who owns the place. The tables are large though few. You can also sit at the window at a counter to people-watch on 30th. There IS free wifi, which is always a plus, but I would recommend putting your laptop away and enjoying the place. Like I said, the food(i got the fruit bowl) and drinks(I got the cappuccino) are fine. Not spectacular, but fine. The prices are pretty low for drinks, which I appreciate, but what really sells this place is the atmosphere and the service. Shout out to the owner: You are amazing. He is so kind and friendly and I want to throw my money at him because he won my heart over in the uncle-type way in like one second. Particularly those who are global-minded: come here. Support local business owners and befriend them! I am excited to come back.

First and foremost — The Smoothies are A+++++++++ 6 of us were in town for a some RR and we stopped in A Tribute To Mankind for some fresh cold refreshments. The owner — Candy greeted us and took our orders. Candy customer service was awesome and she tremendous help for recommending good & unique drinks for me & my friends. The taste of my smoothie was amazing(sorry I forgot the name)! The prices are more then fair. I must a admit, Its so hard to find a good mom and pop shops that produce such fresh and tasty drinks! I’m sooooo going back next time, I’m in the area. I’m certain that you will feel same way after your first visit!

I’ve only been here twice and the food was killer both times. The vegetarian wrap with feta or whatever is fantastic. It’s only $ 5.50 or something like that but really generous. People might find it a little small and they have those weird triangular tables that look like something from Bilbo Baggins cottage but other than that this place is great. They’re almost a little too friendly too, like the neighborhood hasn’t beaten them into cynicism yet. What’s really nice is that they’re open pretty late, ’til 10 I think and there really is no where else all the way up to Filter and Claire de Lune that is open late. It’s just a nice simple, clean, friendly café. That’s all a fella wants sometimes.

oh my goodness, talk about service! This place is awesome, everyone who works here is super friendly, the coffee, food and smoothies are delicious and the prices unbelievable. Along with great wifi, and a super comfy atmosphere. I couldn’t have stumbled into a better find! Nice and quiet, this place is too cool. Love it. We had the San Diego Breakfast(granola & soy), Mattu Picchu smoothie, free shots of wheatgrass, and a tuna bagel that might have been the best tuna I’ve ever had. yum. go there, you need to.

This may be my first Unilocal review in San Diego(bad Unilocaler, bad!) but I just had to share as I went there last night and the juice was sooooo good. I got a Mango Manilla smoothie with cucumber, which sounded risky but was the best smoothie I’ve had in at least a year. The owner was very hospitable and we talked at length about his plan to start a produce co-op of sorts. He even plans to accept the EBT card. It was nice to see a shop owner who is so dedicated to local and in season but at prices I can afford!

I am a big fan! Tomas is a very special person, he loves to interact and serves with a great, warm smile. My hopes are that ‘A Tribute to Mankind’ will be the place to visit for many decades to come. Thank you for the incredible service, for the veggie juices, the great company and for staying open. If you live in North Park it is a must that you try ‘A Tribute to Mankind’, taste their espresso, their wraps, oh and by all means-try the veggie juice drinks as they are delicious. As Ryan K. said, «the hospitality was great»!!

It’s not the most happening of places. For a coffee shop/internet café it felt more like a library without music or the chatter of other peeps around. Everyone’s on their best behavior making it great if you’ve got some work to do and need to block out distractions. The real tribute is to their smoothies though. Made from some of the freshest fruit around it’s an explosion of taste that you may need to sit down for. I had the manila mango and it gave me hot flashes. I’m sure everything else on the menu will have a similar effect due to the smell when you walk in, but give them a try and see for yourself.

«Tribute to Mankind»…it’s not just another coffee shop… it’s the new hangout, where you can interact not just with the owners Candy & Thomas while having your favorite coffee… but you get to mingle with people with different backgrounds & cultures while enjoying great, delicious, healthy & fresh foods over awesome conversation! I love the super friendly & family oriented environment… Great place, great location, awesome food & outstanding environment!

I like what they’re trying to do. I also like that they are super close to me. And I like the décor. Oh, and that the coffee/espresso drinks are a pretty good price. And the people are really nice. That said, with Claires and Calabria and Cardamom and 30th st café all within walking distance for coffee, they’re going to have to step it up in terms of coffee and espresso. Also, with Señor Mango’s not too far away too, they have a lot to step up in the smoothie/juice department, especially in terms of cost. There’s just no way I’m going to pay $ 5 – 7 for a smoothie or juice when I can get it fresher, faster, and with more options for half the price a mile away. I want this place to succeed! So I hope once they get more settled in, things will come around.

We were in North Park this morning looking for coffee and ran across Tribute to Mankind. I had a mocha frap, and the boyfriend had orange juice and a fruit bowl. I took a sip of his juice, it was delicious not your normal OJ. I guess they mix two different oranges which are grown locally and it has an incredible flavor– super refreshing! I have to say my mocha frap was better than Starbucks! You could really taste the espresso. I can’t wait to go down there again, will definitely stop by anytime I’m down in the area! Highly recommend!

«Tribute to Mankind» is now open! They are located about four doors south from The Linkery(south of the Art Academy and the Appliance store). Thomas, the owner, used to run the«Tastes of Africa» vegan food cart at several farmers markets. Now he only serves food at the La Jolla farmers market on Sundays. However he has opened this new business that has tea, coffee, juices, smoothies, fruit and salads. The design inside is very nice with nice couches and tables. A very comfortable setting. I got the small fruit box and added blue-cheese. The fruit was all very fresh and delicious. They are also doing a deal where for $ 6 you can take away an entire shopping bag of fruit. Congrats to «Tribute to Mankind» on finally opening. Give them some business!
