The sate noodles and the fried rice are really good. I was angry when they messed up my order because I asked for two sate noodles with one thick noodles and one thin noodles but they messed up by giving me two thick noodles. It also happened again but lucky I asked the employers and they noticed they messed up my order so they fixed it. I don’t excuse employees’ mistakes. Also I think it’s an unsafe restaurant because it’s near liquor store with creepy people.

The best Cambodian Chinese food I can find besides my mom’s. This place is childhood for a lot of Asian kids that grew up in City Heights. It’s a family owned restaurant and the owners always have a smile on their faces — especially the mom. I used to only get their phat sieu and Phnom Penh noodles but their dried version of Phnom Penh noodles is my new favorite. Other favorites my family have for this place are the fried rice and porridge(chicken flavored). They also do party trays for foods such as fried rice and other traditional Cambodian Chinese foods. I think my family’s favorite part about this place is the fact that they don’t use MSG like other places do. We often get sick after going to other places but this place is forever reliable. The only downside is parking and the location can look intimidating.

Definitely a hole in the wall. Pretty run down building and in need of an upgrade inside. I mean I can understand that most asian restaurants in this area are family owned so I’m pretty used to these standards. I came here because a friend recommended to get their duck noodle soup. We ordered and waited for an unusually long time, until the server finally realized that she forgot to make our order even though there was like one other group at the restaurant. She did apologize though but told us to remind her next time because shes forgetful. Duck Noodle Soup You get a choice of thin or thick noodles, but unfortunately they ran out of thick noodles. The soup broth is delicious. The pieces of duck were nice and thick. It was kind of weird that there was lettuce in the soup though, but I did also like the onions and fried garlic. My friend ordered this other noodle dish and it came with a beef bone soup and that was AMAZING. the soup broth was perfect and the meat was so tender and delicious. So if I can say one thing is that, their soups here do not disappoint! Will come back and try other things in the future.

Was really craving rice noodle and stumbled upon this place on Unilocal! It’s a cute family owned restaurant and their service is great! Definitely get the #1 Combination Soup with Rice Noodle. I got it dry AKA soup on the side. The soup also came with a beef bone and the flavors of the soup was so rich, seemed like they simmered the soup for days, the meat on the bone also fell off very easily. They were very generous in the toppings for the noodle, everything was really delicious! Will definitely be back!

I came to this lil hole in the wall(literally) on april 27th at 6pm, parking was a lil difficult but well worth the wait. I was seated promptly and greeted by a handsome young man name jimmy, i asked what he recommended and he said thai tea or coco, i got the thai tea, yummmm. I then orders lad nah seafood and the noodles were perfectly cooked and aslo came with plenty of shrimp! The service was great, even the owner kevy che came out to make sure everything was good. Phở sure coming back !

I have been on the fence of whether or not to review this spot because I don’t want it to get so popular that I cannot find parking or have to wait in any type of a line. I figure the location couldn’t possibly attract too many Unilocalers so I will wait and see… I was introduced to this restaurant by my parents. They claim that they have been coming here since they were in high school or something like that meaning that this is some old school OG legitness stuff. I’ve probably been here at least 3 times in the past few months and my parents probably come here biweekly taking all their friends, our family members, and coworkers. This is a word-of-mouth/didn’t-need-yelp-to-survive kind of place. Since my parents are regulars, the owners(a wife and husband duo per my mom) know exactly what my mom wants first: those deliciously warm doughnut-like bread sticks. There likely to accompany the soups, however my mom straight pours sugar on it making it a sugar doughnut. They also automatically ask«how many soup?» knowing exactly what soup will be ordered and that whoever is accompanying my parents at the time will be inclined to order it as well. Food I like here: The above mentioned soup is a beef broth with bones that have been simmering for what seems to be days or even weeks. The broth is unbelievably flavorful with any pieces of meat left on the bone being the most tender meat you’ll ever have the pleasure of putting your mouth. I dunk the above mentioned doughnut bread in this before enjoying it a dessert like my mom does. Another must: chinese sausage fried rice. Let me add that I have never really looked at the menu and have only gone by recommendations made by my parents and brother(who also frequents because, duh mom and dad are treating 100% of the time, so why not?). Food I see many people enjoying here(but I cannot due to my allergy to seafood): garlic fried shrimp. Anyone who has ever ate this cannot deny their love for it. I hear the chow fun is good too or anything with shrimp in it for that matter. Oh and did I mention Thai Tea? Oh and I cannot forget the fresh young coconut juice served straight out of the coconut. The removal of one star is due to it being old, kind of grimy, and small. The tables are that of an old taco shop. I don’t mind it one bit, it actually shows how homey it is, but I can see how the lack of impeccable cleanliness may turn people off.

Very mom& pop and not the cleanest looking place but lemme tell u… they put out some delish food! Make sure to ask for the kamquat lemonade! We ALWAYS have the salt and pepper shrimp, drunken noodle and the satay w soup on side! We ALWAYS love what we order!

Small but very good, reminds me the local food in South China, exactly the same flavor! Very cheap too, the black tea milk is super awesome, don’t miss it!

This is a nice hidden gem in San Diego, albeit at a slightly ghetto location. Located in a small plaza with plenty of parking, it is one of my favorite places to get noodles. Though it doesn’t look too safe, we actually left our vehicle w our valued belongings in the car unlocked for almost an hour while we are eating and when we went out it was safe. They have thin egg noodles and crispy noodles. Their noodle dishes are great, of the two noodle dishes I tried they are both light and flavorful. Service is really good and so is the environment. Will definitely come back again for more noodles!

We were by the airport and my husband was hung over so he asked for phở(k’tieu in Cambodian) and so we came here. We don’t like coming here because the area is very seedy and unsafe. The restaurant is in a plaza shared with a liquor store so we parked in front of the liquor store and the guy yelled at us to move our car since it’s for his customers only. We look over to see his customers and honestly, they look like they could be gang members of some sort. We moved our car and came to this place, it was pretty busy in the front so they seated us in the back by the restaurant and boxes and where it was 92 degrees, the thermostat right by our table stated that. The owner came by and apologized and told us that the AC guy was supposed to come back to fix it but he took her money and never came back, We said it was ok considering we were eating hot food so we asked for ice water and it took forever for our waiter to bring us ice water, so my husband had to ask for it again. He served us water in a coffee glass carafe, which was weird. My husband ordered the k’tieu which is phở and it was good but he looked down on his soup spoon and the inside of the handle had all these dust and particles on it, clearly the spoon wasn’t clean. It didn’t allow us to enjoy our food after that. I got the mi-gah-tang(chow foon) and while it was good, my chopsticks were dusty and they were on a tray on the table with other condiments that were all dusty, had dead ants near it and some cob webs. Needless to say, I didn’t finish my food. My kids got the fried rice but they were served plastic spoons so I was ok with that. I think I need to find a new cambodian place to eat at because it was hard to finish our food after that experience.

Grosse will never come back.. Store bought pot stickers should be illegal to use in resturaunts. Beef chow fun was disgusting. To much oil on the noodles the gravy rolled right off.

It’s not often you find a Cambodian/trieu chau restaurant, let alone one in San Diego. It’s almost unheard of. But I stumbled upon this place during my days living in University Heights and have just now gotten around to writing a well-deserved review. I love the feel of this place. Hole-in-the-wall/take me back to Cambodia feeling. Originally, I came here with my best friend and we decided to order two things to share. I got the sate beef noodle and she got the duck noodles. Instantly regretted the idea of sharing when I tasted my sate beef. Honestly, her dish was pretty good but it was hard to compare when you have so much flavor going on. Now I wish I lived closer so I could get this more often.

First time coming this small family restaurant and I’m glad my friends had me try it. This place isn’t in the most friendliest neighborhood but the food sure makes up for it. Since the parking is shared with other businesses plan to look for street parking if all goes bad! I opted on the dry seafood noodle with my bone marrow soup on the side. Unlike other places, the shrimp was actually huge and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The broth was hot, flavorful and the meat was so tender it came right off the bone. I also ordered the Chinese sausage fried rice and it came in a huge portion! Couldn’t finish it. But it would be easily shared between 3 – 4 people. I had no problem with the servers! Everyone was very nice and attentive. Pros: — Huge menu with lots of options — Huge portions — Cheap prices — Great customer service Cons: — Parking — Limited table seating

Food is a Chinese-Lao blend and their signature dish is amazing. I go for lunch or weekend breakfast and have their dish #1 and i must say it is amazing. Intense flavors both in the soup and the crumbled meat sitting on top of the noodles(i get the soup and noodles separate). Used to live in Malaysia and often had a dish just like this and to me the taste is exactly the same. Authentic. The name of the restaurant is also the name of their fabulous signature dish trieu chau.

My family eats here often and the owner is always happy to take our order. Most of the time she already knows what we want, this is a family owned business. I remember once that she even stayed open late just to get us some soup before she closed. She is always friendly and even throws in extra soup and things when we take left over home(:

Cheap food in a cheap restaurant. I have no problem with eating at a hole in the wall, but this place needs an upgrade. The place had bright orange round tables that you would expect to see at a Mexican shop, chopsticks from ‘Mandarin Garden,’ mustard bottles used for hosien sauce, and a coffee maker that was used for water. All of this was just too strange for me. The food itself was average as well. The salt and pepper shrimp was the best dish but everything else I had(beef and broccoli, beef soup, and lad na) was mediocre. I liked how the shrimp was flavored in garlic and spices but wished the pieces were bigger. Too skimpy but you get what you pay for here. I rather cook at home than come here next time. Be careful of parking in this plaza as well. Someone hit my friend’s car(driver side fender) while it was parked. The driver was about to drive off but luckily we stopped him after hearing the alarm.

This is your local neighborhood noodle house that never fails you. A humble mom and pop restaurant that’s been in City Heights for the last 30 years. A brief background on Trieu Chau people, so you’ll understand why their restaurant encompasses so many Asian flavors. Historically, they are some of the smartest, fastest-moving, hardest-working merchants and sojourners of China. Their footprints can be tracked in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia and even the Philippines. In short, they are everywhere, and so is their food. So for this noodle house, you will find yourself identifying Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laos and Thai flavors. Always served with a pipping hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day. Or that huge plate of comforting pan fry noodles or rice that fills my tummy but also brings me back home. The service is always friendly and the food ample and affordable. Ingredients are always fresh. They make their own Chinese donut, satay chili sauce, 5 spice duck«confit.» They have rice noodles, egg noddles, big and flat or thin and al dente. Soup on the side or all in one. Extra beef meatballs, Chinese broccoli or just seafood. They will customize orders on my most particular days. That’s impressive for a family run establishment where the plates are the same price as my venti latte down the street. On my last visit, they served fresh young coconut and even helped a patron carve out her coconut because she didn’t want to do that herself. They are 5 stars like that, treating customers like family. Being in the food scene in LA, foodies talk about craft, artisanal, innovative, etc etc. No fusion here. This is the OG, the legit, authentic Trieu Chau noodles. I find myself craving these noodles on the daily.
