Located kitty cat/across the Sun God, this building is OOOOOOOLLLLLLDDDDD and has no air conditioning. Blech. The cycle room is located there and it’s hotter than hades there too. The only reason I even go there is to take Paul’s Poundin’ Pedals cycle classes MW12pm. He’s hands down the BEST spin instructor in San Diego and I’ve taken spin in different cities, big gyms, studios etc. Oh their bathrooms are old & gross too. There is like zero circulation in that building.

I don’t usually venture out to Main Gym because in general, it is a lot smaller than RIMAC. But I started coming here once a week since the beginning of Spring quarter because I signed up for a beginners’ aerial silks class. There are two floors: the first floor is just a huge basketball court that can be used as a badminton court at night. They have a schedule on the side of the main door that shows all the times of usage. Upstairs, there are three different components. One is for the aerial silks class, the other is for some type of bootcamp(and more aerial silks) and the other is the main gym area. This includes treadmills, a stretching area and weights/racks. Pros: –Good variety of sports equipment and workout equipment! For a place this size, it’s already decent. Nothing much to complain! Cons: –A little confusing to navigate around if you are a first timer. Where is East and West balcony??? Just don’t be afraid to ask! Tips/Observations: –There is a swimming pool right behind the gym! Overall, will continue to come here as long as I am in Muir/Revelle!

I don’t know why people hate on this place. It’s a gym run by mainly undergraduates. What would you expect? Ever since the old equipment was replaced, I’ve enjoyed running on the treadmill at this gym. It’s definitely not as large as UCSD’s rimac gym, but it does the trick. This is a school gym people. Not your 24 hour fitness. The gym also has a few basketball courts, a gymnastics area, and a room with mirrors for a lot of their rec classes(ie dance, aerial silks, etc). The only possible thing I could complain about is the fact that there is no air conditioning in this building. They installed a big fan on the ceiling several months ago so there’s a bit more ventilation, but during the summer heat waves, it’s brutal to be in here.

Compared to RIMAC the other gym on UCSD campus, this gym is obviously the old one with older equipments but still does its job. However, the workout area is located right above the gym floor. So If your on the treadmill, Bike, or Elliptical, there is definitely entertainment for you to watch when you go during the afternoons. Its definitely the place you would go if you want to stay close to lower campus and just want to get a workout done, and there’s usually less people before late afternoon(3 – 6)

I asked to use the gymnastics room(it was not open to the public, you had to pay) at the front desk. And the two girls in the front told me that the people who are in charge of the Gymnastics room«aren’t here at the moment but they’ll be back soon.» So I waited for about 10 minutes, then went up to them again and asked if they’ll be here soon and she ignored me! I asked again, «do you think they will come back soon?» and this time she just shrugged. I got angry and said«You could have told me that 10 minutes ago!» and she shrugged again. She didn’t know how to speak english! Geez just because you’re a student worker doesn’t give an excuse to slack off and give poor customer service. She could have done something; call them, find her manager, find the keys and do it herself, but she didn’t. She was a scrubby looking asian girl that worked at 3PM on Mondays. I wasted 20 minutes. I hope her manager sees this and fires her.
