Beautiful campus! Very quiet — although classes haven’t kicked back up. Parking was a breeze in the lot where you park, and the campus itself is very well lit.

This campus is beautiful and serene. I really enjoyed my visit here. The campus is so clean and well kept. I can’t really review the academics or about being a student here, but the facilities are spectacular.

One amazing University with a top-​of-​the-​line education. The campus is consistently ranked among the most beautiful of all the universities in the United States. I have no negative memories from my time there.

Awful. I was trying to complete a 10 unit professional development certificate so I could move up on my salary schedule for teaching. I paid for all 5 classes up front and of course, they took all the money right away. First two course, I was the only attendee. They emailed me a few days before the third course was to start and said they were cancelling, May 21. Well, I needed all the classes for the certificate and I only had a certain length of time to complete so I had to cancel the remaining two classes as well and find a different program at another school.
As of July 9, I still have not received any money back for the cancelled 3 classes ($ 1700) and they keep giving me the runaround, making excuses like they moved and lost the paperwork but it’s a different excuse every week. In addition, they deducted $ 100 off my refund for the two I cancelled even though they cancelled one that was in this same series of five required for the certificate.
Where’s my money! I’m paying 10% interest on this loan from my bank and I’ve already enrolled in two other courses at UCSD, which I had to pay for at the beginning of June.
Don’t do it!

This school is such a scam, also whats up with having all these tacky loud concerts on Sunday nights? Let me give you a tip, take the 150k you’ll blow here and put it in small cap stocks, and go to Mesa college.

One of the academic establishments I’ve studied at. Great teachers, amazing library and a beautiful campus. I had a ton of fun here and would go back to my enrollment here in a heartbeat.

I was wowed by the beautiful architecture and landscape, this does not however translate to a positive educational experience or fair dealings with the faculty/​administration, specifically the HAHN School of Nursing. The majority of the nursing instructors are part-​time with no formal teaching education. What this means is that you pay a premium price for an experience with people who are ill equip to teach. The experience translates to a giant paper-​mill run on a shoe-​string budget.
During my year at the school, my bra was inspected and two of the instructors regularly served up nasty, condescending comments. One of these instructors rarely responded when I asked her for help, gave me wrong information on a medication after reprimanding me for giving her the correct mechanism of action, and regularly used control and intimidation creating an unnecessarily stressful environment on the clinical floor at a local hospital. Later she used her position of power to discredit me by insinuating that I was mentally ill; it doesn’t get any sicker than that.
When I tried to report my concerns, the faculty and administration closed ranks and I was expelled from the program but «invited» to petition to return next year. When I asked for a letter of transfer to a new program the Dean of the school of nursing laughed, said no but invited me to petition to attend next year.
The administration is full of power hungry people with no moral scruples. It may be a Catholic university but God is nowhere to be found. What is found is a culture of bullying, elitism, major abuses of power, corruption, and intimidation.
This is not a school for the thinking individual.
Do not waste your hard-​earned, precious resources with these individuals.

This school is absolutely beautiful. They’re also extremely involved with their students and the world around them.

I love the teachers! I love the campus! I love the feel! It’s one of the most beautiful campus’s I’ve ever been too! It has a constant theme of tradition with it’s Spanish architecture.
I’m a communication major and I am currently enjoying the program here very much. I am a transfer to this school so in comparison to my old school, USD surpasses them, no questions asked.
Also the location is perfect right near the beach.
I’m taking off 1 star because I had a bad experience with my sorority… once I left I actually made more friends. Kinda hard to find my groove and where I belonged but I joined some clubs and just started to talk to more people and I found my groove again!
This school is not for everyone, but I suggest you check it out! It’s just that beautiful!

I seriously don’t think I could be this happy with any other university. I also don’t think I could have gotten this far with any other university either (LOL) I’m currently finishing up my last year as a Communication major at the College of Arts and Sciences.

— Small class sizes, you really get to know your profs and classmates. This makes it easier for interaction and forming study groups/​friendships.
— Office hours: this saved my life. Professors are always welcoming and if you have any questions or concerns you feel totally comfortable in voicing them.
— Easiness to get classes: This is a HUGE plus. I was usually super late in choosing classes and quickly learned that you typically can choose any class, as most professors are willing to sign your add/​drop form. I know for a fact this is not the case at most other universities, especially not a public one.
— This one’s obvious, but the campus is impeccable. I think it’s in the top 20 most beautiful campuses in America. There are so many places to study or to have a picnic lunch on the grass. I seriously find a new place to meditate every single visit. Omm.
— Every class you take will seriously blow your mind. Sure, some professors are better than others but majority of the professors here are f-​cking phenomenal. Most have PhD’s or are complete experts in their fields. Each time there is an opening for a professor, all the tenured professors get together and the perspective goes through rigorous reviews. I even got to participate in the viewing of a prospective professor giving a trial lecture.

— Tuition is pretty bloody expensive for the average college student. If you attend for 4 years, and don’t have any financial aid/​scholarships you are looking at about $ 200,000 in loan debt + interest when you graduate. That’s more than people make in YEARS of working.
Fortunately I was able to transfer in as a junior, and was also awarded a scholarship. Transferring in would be a smart option to attend this amazing university. I hate to say, but unless your family has serious means or you get some kind of scholarship. you are doomed.
— Not much school spirit, and lack of student diversity. Most of the students here are upper middle class caucasians. I was usually the only Asian in all my classes. There are different ethnicities but they are scattered.
All in all, I absolutely love this school and am so thankful for everything I’ve learned here. Most of the knowledge is totally applicable to real life situations. Torero for life baby!

Beautiful campus. Outstanding resources and facilities for students.
Excellent hiring opportunities, study abroad, clubs for students. I finished my Bachelor’s in Finance in 2013.
Administration has been involved in some scandals though. A PHD student had his grades changed by a professor resulting in being kicked out of a PHD program, because he practices Falun Dafa meditation, similar to Tai Chi/​Yoga. He filed for discrimination, so they gave him the run-​around and in the end claimed «no discrimination was found.»
They’ve had other lawsuits going on as well for fairly unprofessional conduct. You can check out those on Google. I have high hopes for the school once the administration is cleaned up.

I would give 100 stars if I could. University of San Diego was the best thing that ever happened to me. I got the best education, had the best teachers and really came into my own while at this school. I highly recommend any and all seniors and parents of seniors to look into this school. Your money is well spent for what you will get out of it. Best four years of my life. Not a negative thing to say. Also– if you are a communications major, take Ghio. For logic take Jones. For history take Gonzales. All great professors. ENJOY!!!

One of the best looking schools in the country

The benefit is not commensurate with the cost.
My wife went through USD’s education credential program. Having a member of our family attend USD resulted in a net decrease in our quality of life for many years after graduation. This decrease was due to the extremely high cost and disproportionately low earning potential that USD’s education credential program offers.
Over the years, USD has become symbolic of missed opportunities in our twenties and thirties because we were all but consumed by servicing the resulting debt load. These missed opportunities came in the forms of a business we could not start, houses/​cars we could not buy and ultimately leaving San Diego, a city we love.
If you are not going to be responsible for the bill, USD will probably serve you well. However, if you will be responsible for the bill, as I have jointly been, consider what life looks like after USD with the debt load. Get over how beautiful the campus is and think of all the opportunities that you and your future spouse/​partner/​family might be giving up. I wish we had. If we did, USD would have been a definite no-​go.

My husband graduated here for Law. Great school beautiful campus. Great program if you want to study Law.

I pinch myself everyday arriving and leaving USD’s campus, as it overlooks the pacific ocean. If you come to visit, be sure to stay for sunset. Go to the back of the IPJ building and savor the spectacular show as you overlook the bay and its twinkling light show. Visit O’Tools for some happy hour wine or the lunch buffet at La Gran Terreza or sushi at Bert’s BBQ. Or come to school at one of the most remarkable institutions for the commitment to social justice, a student centered learning experience, and a community minded education.

Beautiful PRIVATE school situated on a hill.
Shuttle service is quick and to the point.
Architecture is AMAZING.
Wifi can be upgraded, but whatevs

The gardens, the fountains, the palm trees, the galleries,.

People here are also very friendly and have no problem invading your space (can be a yay or a nay)

As stated in my tip, silence here is golden and I love it!
I’ve been to the campus a few times for some information sessions about some programs, seminars, and visited the Jenny Craig Pavillion for basketball games. Parking is never too crazy in the evening and you immediately feel the much more cool, calm, and collected vibe they got goin. Civilized is the word! Ha… a big difference in comparison with my alma mater (SDSU).
Every time I come, I admire the architecture. It’s almost San Diego Balboa Park-​esque, if you know what I mean. I could definitely see someone marrying here or having a great photo shoot. *hint hint* photographers.
As for the education, I know they offer a really great one and the process is rather difficult. It’s known for being a private Catholic university, but it has became a bit more liberal over the years while keeping to some tradition. If you’re looking for a big party school, this isn’t it. Thou mayest look elsewhere.

The campus is gorgeous. The SOLES program is excellent. The only drawback is the price. The school is extremely expensive to go to. Otherwise it would have gotten a 5 star rating.

Can only vouch for their graduate program. Received my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy at USD. Beautiful campus, reliable shuttles, decent food options. My program’s faculty members were knowledgeable and most importantly, supportive. If you can afford the expensive tuition, keep USD on your list!
