Went in looking for some new works shoes. Went out with nothing, not because there wasn’t anything there that didn’t fit my needs but because the employee assisting me was more eager to close the store than to help me. She was incredibly unenthusiastic and didn’t seem to even want me in the store. As I was walking out she turned and told the other person there«she’s leaving now I’m locking the doors»… Sorry to inconvenience you, lady who has a job in sales/customer service. Ps I can here you. That’ll be the last time I «walk» into this store.

I am really pleased with the service I received. The salesman’s name was Chad. I hurt my back a few weeks ago and wanted a better pair of shoes not really realizing the shoes would play a huge factor in my healing. Chad very patiently assisted me with finding the perfect shoes. I walked out with two pairs of shoes. When I put on my shoes, I immediately felt relief in the injured part of my back. What a difference the right shoes can make! I was a HAPPYCAMPER all last week at work. I now plan what to wear around my shoes. Lol

I usually shop at the Fashion Valley Walking Company but while shopping with my mom at UTC we decided to stop in to look for shoes for her. My first impression was that the store is much smaller than Fashion Valley but that is not what would have made me not want to return. The border line offensive sales associates are what is ensuring I never return. My mom told the sales associate what she was looking for and after a very small effort on his part to suggest possible shoes, he turned to his co-worker and began to chat with no further acknowledgment to the fact that he still had customers. When my mom found a shoe she would like to try on he mocked the fact that she said she had narrow feet and said«those, with your narrow feet» in a snarky tone. Then he and his female co-worker began to ask questions about my mom’s foot problem and started condescendingly implying they never heard of(her doctor diagnosed) foot problem and the female associate said«I don’t think that can happen» pretty much rolling her eyes. I shop at The Walking Company not because I like to pay sky high prices for shoes but because of the fantastic customer service which over and over again I have received at the Fashion Valley location. Because good service is what I feel the store is known for I was flabbergasted at the horrific service we received today. Had I never been in A Walking Company store before today I would have never returned and will definitely never return to the UTC location. I am sorry the company has such bad representatives for the store!

A few years ago, my physician warned me that I had to give up the sky-high heels or give up everything else I loved to do: running, cardio-hip hop, ballroom dancing and all that sort of thing. I had an IT band injury, a low spine injury and very unhappy feet. I decided to give my gorgeous shoe collection to my sister and invested in a variety of flats. Well, a few months ago the back pain came back and it’s bad. Some weeks are fine, others aren’t. My sciatic nerve decides to just go haywire, and then I started to get a stabbing pain in my arch. In my off hours, I’m a yoga teacher so my back gets plenty of stretching. What could be the culprit? Well? I found out my flat shoes are just too flat. After asking around to some of my nurse, flight attendant and chef friends — they said it was time to give it up and give Dansko a try. But damn! Those puppies are pricy! I did some online research and found they were having a Dansko summer sale at The Walking Company and decided to check it out. Today on my lunch break I hustled over and was warmly greeted by Nicholi at the store. First, Nicholi had me stand on some super-cool machine that showed an infrared picture of my feet and the pressure spots, arches and size. We talked shoes and he quickly went to the back and brought out a few pairs. Well, well. They weren’t the sexiest on the market — but oh-so-so-so comfortable. I picked up a pair of Danskos, and I might never take them off! The arch support is perfect, the shoes are light and the cushioned food bed makes me feel like I’m walking on a cloud! Expensive — but totally worth it since I’m walking pain-free! Thanks Nicholi and The Walking Company!

Yes it is expensive, but you get what you pay for here. I came here looking for a pair of Dansko shoes for work for Mario. The walking company is one of a few local stores that carry them. We were greeted right away and asked if we needed help in sizing the Danskos. The salesperson mentioned that Danskos can be a tricky fit and invited Mario to step into the measurement machine. A few minutes later the salesperson arrived from the back room with the selections we had made. He waited patiently while Mario tried the shoes, on and off and gave them a stroll around the store. Mario asked a few questions about the shoes and was ready to purchase. The salesperson even informed him of an employee hospital discount that Mario was unaware of! Sweet!

pros… love this store, all for the love of walking shoes. have went here many times, and i have even bought some shoes here too. the very first time i went here to buy shoes was right before i went to china. i bought some awesome Merrel shoes, they are tough and comfy as well, in fact i still have them, and they are still in good shape too. the last time i was here, i bought my 10th pair of Birkenstock. love them as they keep me company while working my 10 hour days. other good things, great selection of shoes, both men and women’s. for the most part pretty knowledgeable staff, and other stuff besides shoes as well. love all the insoles, hats, gloves, socks, and other stuff too. cons… couldn’t find them for a while and thought they closed when they moved from from the ground floor to the second floor a while back. prices are also a bit steep, but sometimes they do have sales which they send you the coupon via email.

In 2006, I seriously sprained(2nd degree sprain) my ankle. My podiatrist recommended the Walking Company. I have fallen arches and was feeling a pain that radiated from my left ankle, up my shin and into my knee. I work close to UTC and after work one day decided to stop in and see what they had. I explained what hurt and why I was there. The sales people are very helpful and attentive, Nicolai(I found out later was the store manager), had recommended a variety of shoes for me to choose from. He kept in mind my fallen arches and pain. He also noted that I wanted a pair of comfortable shoes for work and fun shoes for the weekends when I’m running after my kids. In the end, I purchased a pair of Danskos and I wear them everyday. The shoes are stylish and I can wear them at work and on the weekends! The customer service is great and I really like that they pay attention to their customer’s needs. The store is smaller than the Fashion Valley store and may not have as much selection, but the customer service is so much better at the UTC store. I window shop at Fashion, but purchase at UTC.

The sales person was helpful, and explained the shoes I was looking for. They don’t stock many of the MBTs, but would ship it free 2nd day. The shoes here tend to be pretty expensive. I’m still looking for ergonomic, comfortable yet stylish shoes.
