I met my wife here. We were 8th Grade pals, compared homework, said hi, signed each other’s yearbooks. Our teachers were strict, rules were strict, 7th Graders were called«Peagreeners» and 8th Graders were called«Cabbageheads». We used lockers for the first time, we had 6 courses in 6 different classrooms with 6 different teachers. It became mandatory to take showers after PE Class, that was a big adjustment for all. The commute to school was long, so we carpooled with other students, it was a grind logistically compared to elementary school. Back when I went, kids rode their bikes or walked. Today, everyone gets driven or walks. Food was better, they didn’t give a shit what you ate as long as you had correct change. You hung out with cliques and groups of people. You belonged or you didn’t. One thing never wavers, you were a «Wangenheim Wildcat». Like the knowledge and wisdom you pick up from this school, that will never leave you. That will stay with you until you die. Like herpes.
