Instead of the usual awful pop music or blaring TV you get in most laundromats, this laundromat plays quiet, real jazz. I was actually able to pair my socks while listening to John Coltrane. And there’s a few photos of old OB on the wall. Also, it’s cheaper than the other laundromats in OB and is open later.

Typical laundromat. Mostly single and double load machines. Only a couple super big machines. Dryers are really old. No bathroom for customers.

Priced well, guys that run it are friendly and helpful, machines are clean, dryers work as well as expected. However your cloths will get jacked but Pete does a good job keeping the riff raff out he can’t baby sit everyone’s stuff. I do wish they had more dryer tho but part of that is people with multiple loads never combine them in the dryers.

I was told to stick around while my laundry was washing just to make sure no one made off with my clothing. I’m not sure why someone would want my cotton ladies underpants or my child’s clothing but, regardless, I stayed. It was late morning and I was able to get two loads of laundry done in about an hour including drying. It was a quarter for 8 min of drying which I thought was a good deal since the dryers were large. It didn’t seem busy. It was a little dive-y.

I’ve been doing my laundry here for about 4 years. If it wasn’t for the recently installed new dryers they would probably get one star. It would be nice if they could upgrade to new washers, these one’s are pretty small and old, but they get the job done I guess, and aren’t too expensive: $ 1.50 per wash. My major problem with the place is they need to be a little more hands on. It wouldn’t kill them to have someone pop in several times a day to wipe out the machines and pick the crap up off the floor. I actually show up every time with paper towel in hand to clean out the washers which inevitably always have leftover hair, paper, gum rappers and the like in them. The other major issue are the vagrants who frequent the establishment. 7⁄10 times I show up one of them is sitting inside picking their toenails or doing something else equally disturbing. One of them actually tried to start a fight with me when I told them I didn’t have any money, but thankfully he had already been a problem before I showed up and someone from rocky’s next door had already called the cops. Despite their presence I’ve never(to my knowledge) had any of my laundry stolen, and I never sit around and wait for it. I do however set a timer so I show up the moment the machines finish. All in all, not the worst laundry mat I’ve used, but they could do a few things to greatly improve it. After all we all go there to get our stuff clean, when the place is dirty or full of dirty smelly people it greatly takes away from the feeling that our stuff is actually getting cleaner by bringing it there.

So the special lady and I went here last Sunday. To start with something positive, I’ll say that their washers are cheaper than the other 2 places I’ve done laundry in OB. The major downside of this place is the lack of functioning dryers. It’s a small joint, and when we were there we had to wait about 15 minutes for a dryer. When we finally got a dryer, the thing functioned as well as a clothesline on a cloudy day. The dryers were also cheaper than other places in the area, but if you have to dry them for longer it really isn’t cost effective. Not coming back.

Just like Unilocal-er John l., I reside near-by and haul all my comforters and big stuff to wash down to Wonderland. It is conveniently-located and has lots of washers that look decent and half way clean. This location-I found out from one of the neighbors who I started chatting up-is on the actual site of the Wonderland Amusement Park that once was located in Ocean Beach. In fact inside the business there are framed photo’s on the wall of the past history of the area. I also would not advise leaving laundry unattended here because it is on the pathways of many a home-challenged individual. Deep in the heart of North OB and across the street from a popular liquor store-it can serve as a flop house of sorts to the down-and-out. I like the cool tile floors and painted walls with the hanging pictures. There is a homey feeling to Wonderland. Rocky’s Surf Shop next door is rad and there is a take-out pizza place one block away. As long as you can hang while you wash, it’s all good. I find the history of the place fascinating enough to tempt fate that no panties pincher will get into my dryer while I’m not looking. It was interesting to note that the last time I was there, the trash can was full of clothing, including sweaters and jeans that was abandoned there. Maybe the place is a way station for the underground homeless railroad to pick up some new threads along the way? As one of the few places to do laundry in Ocean Beach, Wonderland is A OK!

I have a washing machine now but live in the neighborhood on W. Pt. Loma. I used this facility for years, and the prices on the machines were at the time lowest in town. Dryers were a bit slow but worked. Hot washes were good and hot not like some who penny pinch with low water temps Above all if you got robbed there was no hesitation to send you a refund, just drop a note in the slot. Word of warning, the logistics and location encourage laundry theft. I have stopped a couple of dirtbags from pulling up, running in and grabbing a load of jeans from the dryers so don’t leave a load in the dryer and go home. Not many people want to steal wet clothes so a wash is probably okay to leave.
