Been a patient of Dr. Yorobe’s since I was a little girl. He’s been a pillar in the Tierrasanta and Filipino community for over 30 years here in San Diego. I think of him like a father more than anything else. It is definitely family practice feel. He’s seen me through fevers, colds and flus. Now that I have my own family, I bring them here too. I plan to continue as long as he keeps practicing. Note, the office is deinitely geared towards making Filipinos feel comfortable. So it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

My partner was a patient of Dr Yorobe for almost a year and she liked him a great deal. We worked well with him and he was always involved and interested in V’s health and care. I too have since become a patient and find him to be compassionate and thorough. If you are an involved and active participant in your own health care, Dr Yorobe is type of doctor that will work well for you.

To put it lightly, Dr. Yorobe is a terrible doctor. If I could give him less than one star I would. I would not go to Dr. Yorobe again if my life depended on it. I’m new to San Diego so I need to find all new doctors. I went to doctor Yorobe because he was the one my insurance gave me as a default primary care physician because he is the closest in-group doctor to where I live. I went to visit Dr. Yorobe on my lunch hour because I needed a prescription renewed. Reception: I arrived on time. The receptionist wasn’t rude to me. But, she wasn’t all that polite either. She gave me the paperwork I need to fill out and then I sat down to wait. There were several women, who work in the office, behind the counter chattering in a language I did not recognize. Normally I enjoy exposure to new cultures and languages. But, I suppose I want to know what people are talking about when I’m at my own doctor’s office. I found this off putting. Waiting: About ten minutes into sitting in the waiting room I saw a pharmaceutical rep come in. Then someone called my name, took my weight and vitals, and I was lead to the exam room. I waited an additional 30 minutes. Then, I saw who turned out to be Dr. Yorobe lead the pharmaceutical rep(who arrived after me) down the hall into an office. I sat in the exam room for an additional ten minutes listening to Dr. Yorobe talk and laugh with the rep. By this point I was fed up and I stood up to pick up my purse and leave without even seeing the doctor. Unfortunately that was right when Dr. Yorobe came in to see me. The Exam: I decided to proceed with the exam. I had waited almost an hour for this after all. Dr. Yorobe looked at my paperwork. Then pointed to my weight and said, «Is this your weight and height?» I told him the numbers were correct. So he said, «Let me check the BMI index. OHBOY!!!» Now I know I could stand to lose some weight. But, how rude of him and that was the full extent of what he said. I don’t mind when a doctor speaks to me about my weight because it is a legitimate medical concern. But, I would have preferred he said, «Your BMI is higher than I’d like to see. Let’s talk about how we can see you lose 10 pounds in the next six months.» I guess a respectful conversation like that is too much to ask of Dr. Yorobe. I told him that I’d like him to renew the prescription I’ve had for the past several years. He then proceeds to fight with me that there is NOWAY my insurance would approve the medication I was on and that he would give me the generic. I reminded him that I’ve kept the same insurance and I have been on that prescription for several years. So he said, «OK we can try it.» But, he used the kind of tone you’d use if you thought the person you are talking to is really unintelligent. He handed me my prescription(that the insurance company approved by the way) and I left. Dr. Yorobe never even asked me about another medical concern I had asked about in the paperwork. I strongly recommend not visiting Dr. Yorobe.
