I have an old iMac G4 and needed a solution for an optical drive. Arnie in customer care, carefully assessed my challenge and provided a great option utilizing the FireWire port. Works like a charm and Arnie even followed up a week later to check in on me and make sure everything worked out as planned.

I ordered the Optibay Extreme for my 17″ 2011 MacBook Pro. MCE has essentially solved the SATA3 interference issue that plagues these models. To my knowledge, this is the only commercially available plug and play device available for this specific purpose.
The device took slightly longer than expected to ship. When the order was processed, I received tracking notification for USPS, but the order wasn’t shipped until about a week later. When I inquired, I spoke to a staff member that advised me the unit was in testing and that I would be notified when it did ship. As promised, I was notified when the order shipped.
I think that MCE Technologies has an excellent product and the negative online reviews reflect a deficiency in customer service that could easily be remedied by better communication.
I will recommend this device to anyone with a 2011 MacBook Pro, and I’m very glad that MCE built this device to solve this issue. Well worth the $ 100 for anyone that wants to get the most out of their hardware.
