17th St Launderland

This is seriously the best dry cleaner that I have ever been to. They take great care of my clothing, and I have never had any issues with items being damaged or lost. They’re also open 6 days a week, for extended hours, which is really helpful. I don’t recall their exact dry cleaning hours but I do know that they’re open until 5pm on Saturday – perfect if you’re running errands on the weekend.
But above all, the owner is just the nicest guy. He remembers everyone just by their face and doesn’t even require you to hand in your dry cleaning ticket in order to pick up your clothing! He really knows which items are yours and brings them out for you as soon as you walk in the door. This is especially impressive since I only come here roughly once every 8 – 10 weeks, but every time he sees me he says, «Oh, it’s been a while! Good to see you,» and immediately pulls me up in his computer system. Truly amazing. It’s wonderful to be able to trust my dry cleaner completely and know that my clothes are cared for by such a caring person.

I came in because the guy next to me at dinner spilled an entire glass of wine on my favorite shirt and sweater. I showed it to the gentleman at 17^th St Launderland, and he proceeded to give me instructions to remove the stain at home, encouraging me to save the money that I would have spent at his establishment. I left feeling more confident in my ability to get the stain out myself, but I also really appreciated that he was genuinely looking out for me. It is refreshing to see that. I will be making this my regular dry cleaner.

This is the closest wash house near my residence and it also seems to be the most affordable in the area.
Perks: right on the corner (so it’s easy to locate), across the street from a café, close to lots of local restaurants (including famous Ike’s sandwiches). also the owner has a wash and fold option right next door.
Cons: 25 cent to dry only gives you 6 – 8 minutes.

Steve is a sweetheart. He really does remember all of his customers and does a very good job with the dry cleaning.
I haven’t used the wash and fold services.
The laundromat is clean, the machines are very inexpensive compared to others in the area, and they definitely do a great job monitoring the place and keeping people that aren’t customers out. There is a very sweet mix of Castro and old SF clientele.
All in all, if I have to go to a laundromat, this isn’t too bad.

I got 2 suits and 2 shirts dry cleaned. Everything came out great and the price was decent (about $ 30).
When I picked up my dry cleaning, I talked to an older asian gentleman who seemed like the owner, and he told me that I didn’t need to get my whole suit dry cleaned since it wasn’t very dirty. It was really great getting advice even though that advice might mean less business for him.
Will definitely come again!

On the dry cleaning side: great and efficient service, they got rid of pink stains on a yellow dress! And with a smile :) Very interesting prices too.
On the laundromat side: clean, inexpensive, and again, great service! They always recognize us even when we haven’t been in for weeks.

I discovered this place right before I moved to San Francisco and its close proximity to my apartment was part of what influenced me to move in where I did. I have to say it’s worked out better than I ever hoped. I make use of the wash and fold service where I drop off my laundry and pick it up after work. Typically it’s ready in a day, but I get the sense that same day wouldn’t be a problem if you were really feeling rushed. I’ve had hundreds of things laundered here over the years and aside from one running ink incident from a novelty t-​shirt from china that a friend gave me, everything has come back in sterling condition. (And the t-​shirt was mostly my fault, I just threw it in with all my other laundry.) The owners are super friendly and accommodating and I feel very lucky to have them so close to my house!

I recently switched to this laundromat after the one closer to my home closed. It’s definitely worth walking an extra block or two – open early, very clean, and all the machines work. Washers are really fast, too, so I don’t have to hang around too long. (There’s nothing to read other than B.A.R. though, so now I make sure to bring a book.)
Last time I was there, another customer started yelling at me for taking out a sock he’d left in a dryer – I didn’t even know it was his and assumed another customer had forgotten it. After he left, the owner came out and asked me what had happened and apologized for the customer’s rudeness. The owners really keep an eye on things, which makes a huge difference. Great place!
Today I didn’t have time to do my wash myself, so I dropped it off for wash-​and-​fold service. Weekends are busy, and Steve didn’t think he could have it for me before Monday. I told him that was fine, so imagine my surprise when I got a phone call from him just a few hours later saying that my laundry was ready! And beautifully washed, folded and packed as well.
It’s really a pleasure to patronize a business whose owners take so much pride in their work, and really try hard to make their customers happy!

I have been going to this place for 8 years. They are such a nice couple and they work all the time. They know me by name and I just drop my dry cleaning off and it is done in a couple days. I have never had an issue with my clothes.

This is absolutely the best laundromat that I have ever used and I’ve been doing laundry for a very lonnnng time.
The facility is spotless and all of the washers and driers are in great working order, which is not the case at many other laundries.
Best of all, the owners, Steve and June are so wonderful and helpful. Plus, they offer wash and fold if you don’t have time to sit around and do your own laundry – and they have cleaning service for garments that aren’t washable.
I highly recommend this business!

The laundromat closest to my apartment permanently closed, so I was forced to search for another one. 17^th St Launderland is a little further away, but I will forevermore come here! Everything is super clean and easy-​to-​use. No more janky machines that I have to pray first in order for them to work. The majority of the machines are in-​service, so there is always plenty of room for everyone. And the dryers actually DRY my clothes… imagine that. The change machines are also super handy.
I always do my own laundry, though I’ve heard good things about the adjacent wash and fold from fellow Unilocalers. Usually I will stick around and bring a book to read. There is no free WiFi here, though it’s close enough to other public establishments that you can mooch off of. Quick and reliable laundromat. Glad I discovered this place!

I use Launderland on a weekly basis. I cannot express the high quality of the service. Steve seems to have a memory like a steel trap, gets my dry-​cleaning before I even get to the counter. Every time I have put clothes through there, they have come back impeccably clean.
Faultless service. You cannot beat it.

With the unfortunate closing of Rub a Dub on 16^th for repairs, I was forced to wander in desperate search for a suitable replacement. Though the idea of walking an entire extra block nearly moved me to tears, I sauntered on.
Launderland is a nice enough laundromat. Washers are $ 2.75 for a small one and $ 3.75 for a bigger one. Driers are a quarter for 7 minutes. There are a ton of machines, and a few carts to move your stuff from A to B.
Bring your quarters, because everything is coin-​op. I don’t think there’s wifi, but I was using a comcast wifi hotspot nearby so I can’t give a definitive answer.
I’m lucky that this laundromat is close by, so I have more options. I’ll definitely go here again.

I’m so glad to see 17^th St Launderland getting as many 5-​star reviews as it has, and given my experience, Steve and June absolutely deserve every single one of them.
Wash and fold is like a drug– once you’ve tried it, it’s nearly impossible to go back to doing your own laundry. And, like an addiction, there’s nothing worse than getting poor service/​product, and it can easily become an expensive habit. At Launderland, I don’t have to worry about either.
We use their wash and fold service every 3 – 4 weeks, and, if we’re able to drop off our laundry in the morning, often get it back that same afternoon. Steve amazingly remembers customer’s names, making drop off and pickup a breeze. Clothes that arrive wrinkled and shoved into a laundry bag are returned neatly folded and organized, wrapped in new bags or rubber bands. We’ve never had any quality issues, either, and we’ve been patrons for over 2 years.
And, for the convenience of having everything cleaned and folded, their prices are reasonable. Combine with the fast and professional service, it’s no wonder we are addicted.
Also, the laundromat itself is kept in tip-​top shape. We still wash our own linens and towels, and often find ourselves using some of the larger machines to get it done. Have yet to experience any overcrowding (or, conversely, rarely am I alone/​feeling unsafe in there either!)

Great place for laundry and dry cleaning! Steve gives really great advice, and takes care of my clothes. Been here for laundry, washing comforters, as well as regular dry cleaning of dresses, sweaters, scarves etc. Friendly service.

I really love this place!!! I have been bringing my wash and fold here for almost 4 years now. I am always able to pick up my laundry same day or, on the rare occasion, the next day early afternoon if I drop off late on a busy day (Wednesday-​Friday as most are getting ready for their weekend plans).
The owners are very meticulous and welcoming. My laundry always comes out neatly folded and warm :) I would recommend to all but especially for those on a budget with no access to laundry. By my calculations, for the time I would spend doing laundry, this is a bargain!!!

The best laundromat in San Francisco! I have been taking laundry to Steve and June for myself and two different clients (I am a personal assistant) for a year and they have kept everything straight without fail (even when I’ve been confused!!) Very accommodating!
The same day wash and fold services are so convenient and reasonably priced. They fill up fast each day because they have so many satisfied regular customers. Don’t show up at 11 and be surprised if they are all full for the day! Steve is always sure to give me a call when the laundry is ready, which I also really appreciate.
I have also had nothing but positive experiences with repairs here– from patches on jeans to holes in down vests to zipper replacements, the quality of the work is always very high.
Overall– a stellar local business run by the friendliest people with great quality and prices!

I have lived in SF for over 15 years, in a number of neighborhoods, and have been to dozens of dry cleaners. 17^th St. Launderland is hands down the best dry cleaner I have been to so far! They are incredibly friendly and hospitable, efficient and timely, and the service they deliver is impeccable. Without a doubt they are the best dry cleaner that I have been to in the city. I have finally found a place that has a local neighborhood feel and delivers a product/​service that is truly outstanding!

17^th Street Launderland is the reason I love this neighborhood. Steve and June (the owners) welcome me weekly, and leave my dry cleaning looking as if I bought the clothes the day before. From spot-​treating my duvet cover to drying my rug, Steve goes above and beyond to ensure all your laundry is done perfectly.
Steve and June’s warm smiles, thorough work and spotless laundromat keep me coming back week after week. Grab a coffee and come do your laundry here; you’ll seriously forget you’re not at home.

After moving to the Castro I did my research and I’m not disappointed– this is by far the best laundromat in the neighborhood in terms of value and service and friendly faces.
The couple who own the place are the best– one time I had finished my laundry and accidentally left an expensive $ 100+ dress out being air dried. I realized this the next day and was absolutely certain someone must have snagged it, so I was pretty sad about it. I came back to Launderland the next weekend and in the middle of washing the owner came up to me and asked me if I had left my dress. We have never chatted before and I was really impressed he had recognized me and held on to my dress before someone else took it. Major major props— I will definitely continue being a regular here.
