Stumbled upon this hidden gem on my recent visit to San Francisco! Was warmly greeted by the friendly barista whose embrace was as warm and rich as his brew. The pride and attention to detail that goes into each cup is second to none. They have incredibly high standards for a quality product; each bean is selected by hand, individually roasted, and finally ground specifically for each cup.
The attention to detail does not just stop with the coffee. The atmosphere and décor is equally top notch. This trendy upscale tech inspired décor flows eloquently with the stylings of their world renowned classically trained pianist. Perfect place to get a cup of coffee listen to some of the best music in San Francisco.
The owner happened to be around when I was there. He is a true visionary! He took the time to personally show me around the entire place. He even kept Academia open after hours because his cliental were enjoying themselves so much! This is truly the best place for coffee in San Francisco. This place is a must!

Café pushes the boundaries of 3^rd wave coffee. They have a wide variety of coffee locally sourced from Ritual, Verve, Sightglass, and other roasters. They primarily focus on V60 pour overs, but also do Aeropress and French press. I hope they expand to espresso as well in the future. They also have a great rotating selection of bottled and boxed cold brew from Stumptown, Bluebottle, and Black Medicine.
The resident barista is a talented, yet modest individual. He’s usually nice enough to go through the intricacies and details of his techniques while making your coffee. I suggested to him that they should upgrade their grinder to and EK43 since that seemed to be what was holding their coffee back. However, he said that they need to increase their revenue stream before doing so.
I really enjoy coming here everyday for my morning coffee, and plan on continuing to get my morning coffee here.
