Ace Handyman & Home Improvement

If there was a MINUS 5 review for this guy I would use it. He holds himself out as a handyman business and on Anjie’s list says he has all needed licenses. Could not find him on the state contractors license web site under his name, his alias, Tony, or under his business name: Ace Handyman. Like the other reviewer’s experience, Charles (Tony) Cortese, failed to provide a bid, contract or invoice for the work he performed. When he verbally stated the cost of what he was charging (replace water heater and do tar patch on roof) he stated an exorbitant amount of money. When my property manager requested an invoice he would not provide one. He has filed a mechanics lien on the property which according to California Law can only be filed by Licensed Contractors. Now I have had to retain an attorney.

I would avoid Ace /​Tony based on recent experience. Tony was completely unprepared for the work I requested in spite of the fact that we discussed my needs over the phone. He showed up without necessary equipment or supplies, and charged his full hourly rate to track down the supplies and tools he should have brought to the job. As a result, the bill was significantly higher than it should have been. If you are looking for a disorganized, poorly prepared, and expensive handyman, Tony is the man for the job!
