I love going to Alexander G for my haircut and color. Amy is the one for me. She does exactly what I want and listens to me as a consumer. I have A LOT of long curly blonde hair and Amy has been a huge part of helping me tame it on a daily basis. Both locations are completely elegant and charming. The downtown location is convenient and close to my work and the other location is close to my home– win win! Thanks Alexander G and Amy !

I’m a guy with long hair. This apparently is a rather difficult combination, going by the results of the previous hair stylists I’ve tried. I’ve never been happy with my haircuts, instead choosing just to grow it out.
Thankfully, someone recommended Alexander G — and I couldn’t be happier.
I waited a while to write this, as it’s easy to be happy with a cut straight out of the salon, but it really relies on how it holds up after a few washes and a little growth. It’s safe to say this is the BEST haircut I’ve had, ever.
The whole process is excellent from booking to walking out of the door — beautiful salon, excellent people, and an amazing haircut. Alexander really pays attention to your hair, face shape, and what you want out of the cut. I have no idea what I’m talking about when it comes to hair, but somehow he still interpreted this into exactly what I was hoping for.

I’ve had trouble finding the right fit with hair stylists in the past, because I have very specific ideas (and tastes) but have trouble putting it into words. Lucky I found Amy at Alexander G. She instantly puts me right at ease with her sparkling manners, and somehow intuits from my list of disconnected adjectives exactly what I’m looking for. And then she makes it turn out even better. The whole experience feels stimulating and restorative with the gleaming fixtures, cute British accents, and the gorgeous cosmopolitan view. It’s a posh little oasis. And then I love that mood at the end of my appointment, stepping out into our lovely downtown metropolis, feeling super confident, refreshed, and ready to go out on the town. At this point I usually start singing Petula Clark to myself.
By the way, if you’re approaching from the west on Bush St, don’t get confused like I did the first time: 333 Bush has a residential entrance (a little courtyard behind a trellis). If you keep going east you can’t miss the massive business entrance, on the other side of the parking entry. Look for the Lion!

I found Alexander G Salon about a year ago through friends. Amazing salon, but the 32^nd Ave was far to go, even for good hair. But I fell in love with Amy. She can cut and color my blonde curls to perfection. Since they moved downtown, my life is complete!!! Amy is primarily at this location and it’s so easy to get to. I even turned my Mom into it now that it’s easily accessible from Bart. Can’t say enough good things!

Alexander is the best hairdresser that I have ever encountered. Certainly he is highly skilled and very experienced (ask him about some of the famous people he has cut for), but what sets him apart is that he is a savant at identifying the perfect shape for any given style so that when I leave the hairdresser not only does my hair look great but also my face looks better!
I look forward to my appointments as the whole team at Alexander G’s are friendly and genuine and I always feel welcome, relaxed, and pampered.
I am not an easy person to please with my haircut and I must admit that I used to churn through hairdressers every few months. Since I found Alexander G’s I have been going there for more than 10 years! The one problem I have had was an increasing difficulty getting to their old location in the Richmond area. I used to live quite close when I first started going but getting there from across the bay (or even just across the city) was quite a chore so I am delighted that they have added this new location right by Montgomery BART.
I have quite difficult hair — each hair is quite thick and a little curly so that it easily frizzes up — and as a result I have had some nightmare haircuts elsewhere in the past — but never here. Alexander pays really close attention, doesn’t take shortcuts (like using ‘thinner’ scissors or razors that are a disaster for hair like mine) and so as it grows out it still looks like my hair has been freshly styled weeks later.
For anyone with hair similar to mine I would definitely recommend their wearable treatment (I rub in 2 or 3 squirts immediately after towel drying and it cures any frizz) and the polishing cream (a tiny amount to finish styling when the hair is almost dry). I find that most products on the market are either too sticky or so heavy that they dull my hair but these products are light and smooth with no stickiness even in the hand.
Great haircut, great experience, and now at last a great location too :)

Marilyn is literally the best ever! I am absolutely obsessed with her! She does fantastic work and she’s honest! She’s helping get my hair healthier and I can already see a significant difference! She’s not only an awesome hairstylist shes a really great person! Highly highly recommend her!

Great great location for those of us who works in FiDi. SO happy that Alexander G opened another salon, and downtown no less! It’s a small space but they did a great job with it. Ask for Amy M ! She always knows what I’m trying to go for with my hair, even when I don’t know at all (95% of the time)

I’ve been getting my haircut by Amy for years and this new salon has made my usual great experience even better! It’s one block from work so it makes getting a cut during lunch super convenient. Try some of the products offered too, I really like the «polishing paste» and my wife likes some of the other products.

I was referred to Alexander G. by a colleague and i’m extremely pleased with my hair cut. The location is super convenient, right in the middle of the FiDi, and this brand new location looks very sharp. It’s an intimate size, with 2 – 3 stations, but immaculately remodeled with marble, classic fixtures and high ceilings.
Service, from booking to departure, was warm and attentive. My stylist (Amy) did a fantastic job and her pleasant personality made the time fly right on by. If you’re like me, and you’re stuck in a rut with quick (but not so «super») haircuts because of a hectic schedule, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to an appointment at Alexander G. Time and money well spent.
